From Albania to Brazil: Ismail Kadaré's Broken april and its filmic adaptation, Walter Salles' Abril despedaçado
Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras/Inglês e Literatura Correspondente, Florianópolis, 2007The aim of the present study is to analyse how issues of Albanian national identity are portrayed in Ismail Kadaré's novel Broken April (Prilli i Thyer), and how such features have been appropriated and translated onto the screen into a Northeastern Brazilian context. I depart from the premise that, even though Brazilian elements are indeed shown in the film, the non existence of the Kanun in Brazil, and the use of narrative techniques different from the ones employed in the novel render the story of the blood feuds in the film more universal than the genuinely Albanian reality depicted in the novel. In sum, the appropriation transcends the Albanian reality into a universal context, showing, at the same time, elements which are typical of the Brazilian culture.O objetivo do presente estudo é analisar como questões sobre a identidade nacional Albanesa são retratadas no romance Abril Despedaçado (Prilli i Thyer), de Ismail Kadaré, e como tais questões foram apropriadas e traduzidas para a tela num contexto Nordestino-Brasileiro. O estudo parte do princípio que, embora elementos tipicamente Brasileiros sejam mostrados no filme, a não existência do Kanun no Brasil, e o uso de técnicas narrativas diferentes das empregadas no romance ajudam a deixar a história das brigas de família no filme com um aspecto mais universal do que a realidade genuinamente Albanesa representada na romance. Em suma, a apropriação transcende a realidade Albanesa para um contexto mais universal, sem deixar de mostrar também elementos típicos da cultura Brasileira
Kriyojenik İşlem Uygulanmış Dökme Demir Malzemelerin Mekanik Özelliklerinin İncelenmesi
Bu çalışmada, gri dökme demir (GG20) ve sfero dökme demir (GGG40) numuneler üzerine uygulanmış olup bir grup 36 saat -80oC kriyojenik işleme tabi tutulmuş, diğer bir grup ise 12 saat –80oC de bekletilip, 12 saat oda sıcaklığında bekletilmiş ve ardından 36 saatlik çevirimli kriyojenik işleme tabi tutulmuştur. Kryojenik işlem uygulanmış ve uygulanmamış numulerin çekme test sonuçları, sertlik ölçüm değerleri ve mikroyapısal değişimleri incelenmiş ve karşılaştırılmıştır
Inter And Intra Row Competıtıon Effects On Growth And Yıeld Components Of Sunflower (Helıanthus Annuus L.) Under Raınfed Condıtıons
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is an important oilseed plant with high adaptability to semi-arid conditions for reasonable vegetable oil production. The aim of this study was to determine the agronomic responses of Bosfora hybrid sunflower cultivar sown inter-row (50 and 70 cm) & intra-row (20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm) spacing in rainfed conditions. The field experiment was laid out on split plots in randomized blocks with three replications for two years (2016 and 2017). Inter row spacings were placed in the main plots and intra row spacings were placed in the subplots. Narrower inter-row (50 cm) and intra-row (20 and 25 cm) plant spacing caused taller plant development but decreased stem thickness, head diameter, thousand-seed weight, number of seeds in a head, dehulled seed ratio, seed weight of per plant, crude oil ratio, day to flowering and maturity. The highest yield (2759.9 kg ha(-1)) was obtained in 50x20 cm spacing while the lowest (1963.8 kg ha(-1)) yield was obtained in 70x20 cm spacing, more likely, due to the increase in the number of plants per unit area. The crude oil ratio was decreased by narrower spacing. However, oil yield was increased with seed yield (kg ha(-1)) and reached the highest amounts (1221.9 and 844.2 kg ha(-1)) in narrow row spacing, attributed to the plant population per unit area. To conclude that the highest seed yield was obtained from narrower (50x20 cm and 50x25 cm) seeding rates in rainy year (2016), while the highest yields were obtained from lowest plant population (70 x 20 and 70 x 25 cm) rates in dry year (2017)
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHOTOSYNTHETIC PIGMENTS AND SEED YIELD COMPONENTS IN SOYBEAN CULTIVARS IN A SEMI-ARID REGION
The field experiment was conducted according to a randomized block design with three replications. Most common cultivated soybean cultivars (Arsoy, Atalkisi, Blaze, Bravo, Ilksoy, Lider, Mersoy, Nova and Traksoy) in Turkey were selected as the plant materials of the study. Agronomic properties such as plant height, first pod height, number of branches, number of pods, thousand-seed weight, plant seed yield, seed yield, crude oil ratio, crude oil yield, chlorophyll a, b, total chlorophyll and carotenoids contents were determined to assess the yield performances of the soybean cultivars. The results showed that yield and yield components were significantly different among soybean cultivars. Although grown under irrigated conditions, the differences in climate factors between the years caused a significant impact on yield and yield components. Photosynthetic pigments, i.e., chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and carotenoids, and consequently, seed yield was affected by stress conditions. The crude oil content of cultivars ranged from 21.45 to 26.6%, and seed yield varied between 1736.8 and 2496.24 kg ha(-1). The results revealed that Atakisi and Atasoy cultivars with high photosynthetic pigment contents can be recommended to obtain high seed and oil yields under semi-arid climate condition

Bu görüşme Rahime Demir tarafından Yaşayanların Dilinden Kartal başlığı altında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda yapılan görüşmelerin sayısı 46'dır.1945 yılında İstanbul ilinin Kartal ilçesinde doğan İsmail Tekin, ilçede bahçe işlerinin yaygın olduğunu ve bu geleneğin Ermenilerden devralındığını ifade eder. Ortaokulu bitirdikten sonra iş hayatına atılır ve elektrik işine girer. Çocukluğunda ilçede yaşayan Ermenilerle kurdukları ilişkilere değinir, herhangi bir ayrımcılığın yapılmadığını, kendisinin Ermeni arkadaşları babasının ise Ermeni bir ortağı olduğunu belirtir. 1944 yılında İstanbul ilinin Kartal ilçesinde doğan Metin Bora da Ermenilerle ve Rumlarla çok güzel ilişkiler kurduklarını ve birbirlerine saygı gösterdiklerini ifade eder. Arnavut Ali adıyla bilinen dedesinin çetecilik yapan Rumlara karşı koymak üzere bir çete kurduğunu ve Kuvayı Milliye’nin öncüleri arasında bulunduğunu söyleyen Bora, büyüklerinden bu konuyla ilgili olarak duyduğu hadiseleri de aktarmaktadır.Rahime Demi
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Numerical solutions of acoustic wave equations using the finite differences method
Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, Matematik Ana Bilim DalıÇalışmanın amacı, 2-boyutlu Kartezyen koordinatlardaki akustik dalga denklemlerinin çözümlerini bulmak için Fortran ve MathCAD programları kullanılarak akustik dalga denklemlerinin çözümlerini tekli, ikili ve çoklu ortamlarda sonlu farklar metoduyla incelemektir. Çalışmada öncelikle ortogonal koordinatlardaki dalga denklemlerinden yola çıkarak 2-boyutlu Kartezyen Koordinatlarda hareket denklemine ulaşıldı. Ortamda olan dalga yayılımını anlamlı bir şekilde gösterebilmek için hareket denklemi, akustik dalga denklemlerine indirgenmiştir. Bu dalga denklemleri sonlu farklar metodu ile çözülmüştür. Sonrasında, çeşitli ortamlar için 2-boyutlu akustik dalga modellemesi yapılmıştır. Akustik dalga modellemesinde, Fortran ve MathCAD programları tercih edilerek yeni sismogram grafikleri elde edilmiştir. Bulunan grafiklerden yola çıkarak, farklı ortamlarda dalga yayılım ve yansımalarına bakılmış bu konular incelenmiştir.The aim of this study is to investigate the solutions of acoustic wave equations using finite difference method in single, binary and multiple environments by using Fortran and MathCAD programs to find solutions of acoustic wave equations in 2-dimensional Cartesian coordinates. In this study, the equation of motion in 2-dimensional Cartesian Coordinates was reached by firstly starting from wave equations in orthogonal coordinates. In order to show the wave propagation in the medium, the equation of motion is reduced to acoustic wave equations. These wave equations are solved by finite difference method. Then, 2-dimensional acoustic wave modeling was performed for various environments. Fortran and MathCAD programs were preferred for acoustic wave modeling and new seismogram graphs were obtained. Wave propagation and reflections in different environments have been examined on the basis of these graphs

Cost assessment of construction projects through neural networks
Construction performance parameters have experienced greater international attention and discussion in recent years. In this study, the change in the load-bearing system cost of a reinforced concrete housing estate building was investigated in relation to the building importance factor, earthquake region, soil type, floor area, and the number of stories. Three different housing estate projects with seven and fifteen stories were investigated. The structural design calculations were performed according to four different soil types, four different earthquake regions, and four different importance factors. With regards to each combination, project costs were calculated. The changes in the cost were examined with artificial neural network and multiple regression models. According to the results of the analysis, the building importance factor was the most significant component, while earthquake region was the second most significant, followed by the factors of the number of floors and the soil type.https://doi.org/10.1139/cjce-2012-044
