Hobbes e o problema da personificação na teoria da representação
Get PDFThe purpose of this article is to discuss the terms of representation and the theory of authorization in Hobbes, highlighting, in turn, the adversities and inconsistencies in the way the fictitious attribution interferes with the constitution of authority in Hobbes. In this sense, it becomes necessary to discuss the way in which Hobbes determines the function of the representative in the absence of his identification as author, that is, without any condition to attribute authority to his actors. This is, therefore, a contradiction in terms of the rationality imposed by the model of representation proposed by Hobbes, in which the imputation of responsibility, in the case of the fictitious person, is absent of responsibility for his acts and, thus, making it impossible to assume responsibility for the acts of another. To this end, the aspects of the fictitious person and his relationship with the precepts of unauthorized authorization are highlighted in order to define the terms of the fictitious attribution and its implications in the legal theory of authorization in Hobbes.O propósito desse artigo consiste em discutir os termos da representação e da teoria da autorização em Hobbes evidenciando, por sua vez, as adversidades e as incoerências no modo como a atribuição fictícia interfere na constituição da autoridade em Hobbes. Nesse sentido, torna-se necessário discutir o modo pelo qual Hobbes determina a função do representante na ausência de sua identificação como autor, ou seja, sem qualquer condição de atribuir autoridade aos seus atores. Trata-se, portanto de uma contradição aos termos da racionalidade imposta pelo modelo de representação proposto por Hobbes, no qual a imputação da responsabilidade, no caso da pessoa fictícia, encontra-se ausente de responsabilidade por seus atos e, assim inviabilizando assumir responsabilidade pelos atos de um outro. Para tanto, evidenciam-se os aspectos da pessoa fictícia e a sua relação com os preceitos da autorização não autorizada para definir os termos da atribuição fictícia e suas implicações na teoria jurídica da autorização em Hobbes
Unidade e multiplicidade na constituição do corpo político em Thomas Hobbes: uma leitura do Elements of Law e do Leviathan
Get PDFO objetivo desse artigo consiste em discutir as relações entre multidão e povo para a constituição da teoria da representação proposta por Thomas Hobbes. Para tanto, direcionam-se as discussões para o âmbito das obras Elements of Law e Leviathan, pelas quais se reconstitui a trajetória argumentativa que dispensa os elementos da pluralidade das vontades para o âmbito da sua unidade. Evidencia-se, portanto, uma evolução argumentativa no que concerne à ideia de unidade e representação entre as duas obras de Hobbes. Para tanto, discute-se a aquisição da unidade das vontades como um elemento indispensável para o estabelecimento da pessoa artificial. Como consequência, demonstra-se que a teoria da representação está condicionada à constituição de uma vontade única, pela qual se estabelecem as premissas da redução do múltiplo ao uno, cuja consequência é o surgimento da concepção de autorização, fundamental ao núcleo da representatividade política.
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
