The aim of this research is to analyze the practical contractual problems that are arising as a consequence of COVID-19 pandemic and which occurs on construction projects contracted under FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Construction. Assuming that neither party could have foreseen such an event at the time of contracting, in this paper author will present and analyze key contractual clauses that may be considered relevant for proving claims for extension of time or additional payments

The focus of my study is to put on a middle work of Roka Tokutomi, Yadorigi, which has been scarcely studied up till today. My purpose here is not a mere analysis of the work itself, but an investigation of the process how the work has taken shape in its author\u27s literary development, and also of the characteristics which were built by the author to be appropriate to the novel. Finally I would like to express my own opinion upon those two investigations. What I have expressed here is as follows: 1) The most primary inclination in Roka\u27s literature during the former half thirties of Meiji Era, is his unique view of nature. There lay an elastic and broad understanding of nature, which could grasp not only nature itself, but also society and people. 2) In the latter half of thirties, the view of nature has rapidly retreated within the author himself. A precise idea without any limitation of history and society called "Naked Self" has taken place of the above unique viewpoint. The abundant materials of Yadorigi recorded by Zenpei Ogasawara, has been taken by Roka Tokutomi from this point of view. 3) Therefore, it can be explained that Roka\u27s tendency towards quite thorough respect of the material and towards using no special technique and decoration has become a reflection or a necessary conclusion to the literature of the idea meaning the above mentioned "Back to the Naked Self". Thus it may be possible to unify the several answers for the strange question: who the original author of Yadorigi is

Selected Metadiscourse Markers in Academic Writing: Exploring the Distribution in the BAWE Corpus

    No full text
Master's thesis in Literacy StudiesThe study of metadiscourse markers is central to this thesis, based on the insights and framework embraced by Hyland who is a pioneer in this discipline. Metadiscourse is understood as an approach in which a writer or a speaker adopts to project himself or herself in the discourse, which itself is his or her creation. It indicates the attitude of the content creator towards his or her content as well as the intended consumer of the discourse. This has made metadiscourse an extremely popular tool for investigators whose research area of interest span from social construction to functional orientation to discourse as well by scientists who perform corpus analysis. The metadiscourse approach provides an attractive mechanism to investigate patterns of interaction and cohesion across the content of a discourse in corpus-based analysis. As a concept and philosophical paradigm, the study on metadiscourse markers offers an approach of accumulating under a single heading a series of tools that creators intelligently utilize in order to clearly format their texts, connect with their intended audience and indicate their behavior. These markers also show the attitude of the author towards both the discourse and the consumer of the discourse

Darbs ir veltīts roka dzejas tekstu izpētei retorikas aspektā. Pētījuma mērķis - noteikt retoriskos toposus un analizēt to saistību ar protesta patosu I. Aleksejeva krievu roka dzejas tekstos. This work is dedicated to the study of rock poetry texts from a rhetorical perspective. The aim of the research is to identify rhetorical topoi and analyze their connection with the pathos of protest in the Russian rock poetry texts by I. Alekseev. The author, using the methods of interpretation, rhetorical, and descriptive analysis, identifies and examines the means that contribute to the development of the category "effectiveness" in the specific corpus of rock texts. Special attention is given to the problem of creating an "effective" text. The work is divided into two parts. The first chapter provides the theoretical foundation necessary for the research, while the second chapter analyzes the realization of topoi and their connection with the pathos of protest. The study may interest philologists working on similar issues, as well as readers interested in this topic

The research has been designed to examine the variation of macrophyte diversity with references to water parameters, which determines the ecological status of Beeshazari Lake (a Ramsar site). Field data were collected in two seasons (monsoon and winter) from 42 plots with 1 m x 1 m quadrat size, laid down at shoreline of the Beeshazari Lake, each plot being 30 m apart from adjacent plot along the lake perimeter for the quantitative analysis of the macrophytes. A total of 42 macrophytes (40 in monsoon and 31 in winter) were recorded during the sampling seasons. Poaceae was the dominant during both seasons, followed by Asteraceae and Euphorbiaceae families during monsoon, whereas Asteraceae and Polygonaceae were found to be dominant during winter seasons. On the basis of growth form, emergent macrophytes were dominant during both seasons. The Shannon-Weiner Diversity Index (SWI) value of macrophytes was higher during the winter (H = 0.98± 0.04) than monsoon (H = 0.97± 0.04). Lemna perpusilla (Importance Value Index, IVI = 22.8) was the dominant species during the monsoon and Azolla pinnata (IVI = 38.2) during the winter. Macrophytes species richness was positively correlated with temperature, pH, DO, and conductivity whereas negatively correlated with TDS during the monsoon season. Further, in the winter season, the richness was positively correlated with pH, DO, TDS, and electric conductivity, whereas negatively correlated with temperature

Autor ističe nordijsku komponentu, naročito u fizionomijama likova.ln this study the author suggests a reconstruction of the artistic personality ol the wood sculptor Urban of Bavaria "de Surgge". who had worked in Dalmatia in the first half of the 17c, while the archives mention his presence in Lopud in 1636, on the island of Lastovo in 1637, in Kotor in 1640 and 1641, and on the island of Hvar 1645. Employing a number of artistic analogies and archive materials, K. Prijatelj proposes the hypothesis about Urban as a likely author of the polychrome wood predella reliefs and the figures of the saints surrounding the central composition of the Ascension of Our Lady on the high altar of Gospa od Šunja on Lopud, of the parish church altar in Jelsa with Our Lady with SS Nicholas and Rocco (it is assumed that its original location was in the Dominican church of St. Mark in Hvar), and of the altar in the chapel of St. Rocco at Vrboska, on the island of Hvar, with the tigures of SS Rocco, Fabian and Sebastian. The author studies the stylistic traits shared by these works and points out the Nordic Component most obvious in the faces of his figures

Experiences of workers with disabilities receiving supported employment services in Greece

    No full text
People with disabilities (PwDs) are under-represented in the workforce, especially during times of economic recession. Supported employment is recognized as an effective practice for promoting work inclusion of PwDs, including people with intellectual disabilities (IDs). This study aimed at exploring the experiences of workers with ID or mental health conditions who received supported employment services in Greece. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine workers with ID and five with mental health conditions. The thematic analysis revealed that emotional pressure was experienced by the participants with mental health conditions and those with ID during the job search and the adaptation period, respectively. On-the-job training was available for the participants with ID and assistance in finding suitable job opportunities was given to those with mental health conditions. All participants highlighted the importance of maintaining employment. The findings can inform efforts on developing employment services targeting social and work inclusion for PwDs. © The Author(s) 2019
