    No full text
Agritourism is recognized as a strategic approach to harness the existing advantages of rural areas, including both on-farm and off-farm attractions. This study, conducted in the Tan Cuong tea region of Thai Nguyen, examines the practical application of the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) in ranking agritourism destinations. Five experts, all with experience in agritourism in Tan Cuong, provided data through questionnaires for the analysis. The results indicated that the Hao Dat Tea Cooperative (A1) ranked highest for sustainable agritourism development. Additionally, the transportation system serving agritourism destinations (C9) was identified as the most influential factor based on the empirical findings. Based on these results, policy recommendations are proposed to prioritize the development of agritourism across various destinations, with suggestions for both central and local policy initiatives

The Interactions among the Heavy Metals in Soils and in Weeds and Their Antioxidant Capacity under the Mining Activities in Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam

    No full text
In this study, the relationship between heavy metals (HMs) concentrations in soils and several weeds including Cyclosorus parasiticus, Dicranopteris linearis, Pityrogramma calomelanos, and Pteris vittata in three mining sites (Cam Gia (Thai Nguyen city), Tan Long (Dong Hy district), and Ha Thuong (Dai Tu district)) in Thai Nguyen province, Vietnam, have been investigated. The levels of HMs varied among soil origins and showed the contaminations of As, Cu, and Pb in soil samples collected in Dong Hy and Dai Tu districts. In addition, the HM distribution and cocontamination phenomena in different soils significantly affected the HM residues and transportation abilities into different species as well as tissues. Moreover, based on the analysis of bioaccumulation factor (BF) and translocation factor (TF), C. parasiticus and D. linearis were found potentially for phytoextraction by roots, while P. calomelanos and P. vittata were suitable for hyperaccumulation in shoots and leaves. Consequently, the strongest antioxidant property by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and superoxide anion (SRSA) radical scavenging assays were demonstrated in the methanol root extracts of C. parasiticus and P. vittata, respectively. In conclusion, the correlation among HM in soils and tissues with antioxidant property allows us to hypothesize that the presence of these elements can enhance the antioxidant activity of plant extracts, suggesting to apply the weeds in phytoremediation as well as in phytomedicine

Bank erosion prediction and mitigation measures along the lower Mekong river

The Lower Mekong River area is a zone with plenty of natural resources and it has the highest agricultural production in Vietnam. The river passes though six provinces in the Southern patt of Vietnam, with more than 16 million in habitants in total. However, serious riverbank erosion problems occur and there is no master plan or mitigation strategy to prevent this problem. Given these conditions, the first objective of this Master of Science study was to study bank erosion prediction by means of both empirical methods and numerical methods. The second objective is to study possible mitigation measures, especially the use of revetments, bend cut-off, and permeable groynes. Based on a number of satellite images (1987, 1996, 2000), old map (1937, 1966) and the observed topography data at some locations, empirical methods to predict riverbank erosion were studied, tested and modified. It appeared not possible to derive an empirical method which in generally applicable in the Lower Mekong River. A numerical model was developed amongst others to make of riverbank erosion predictions. This model was properly calibrated and verified against data from measurements. In an early state of numerical model development, riverbank erosion prediction along the Lower Mekong River was tested with the model. In this testing, the sensitive of parameters in the bank erosion module of MIKE21 C were checked for the Tan Chau -Hong Ngu reach. To prevent (predict and mitigate) riverbank erosion is a very challenging task in river engineering. The mitigation measures were studied by a comprehensive approach, which reviewed the existing mitigation measures in the lower Mekong river, and subsequently fare an overview of possibility preventive measures in this area. Finally, one case study, notably the critical reach near Tan Chau, was taken considering three kinds of measures: a revetment, a bend cut and permeable groynes. The numerical model was used to predict (i) the scour hole in front of revetment, and (ii) the effect of the bend cut. Also the application of the permeable groynes was studied, but these appear to be less suitable for the specific conditions at Tan Chau

학위논문(석사) - 한국과학기술원 : 전기및전자공학부, 2025.2,[iii, 22 p. :]The goal of this work is to generate realistic audio with a lightweight and fast diffusion-based vocoder, named FreGrad. Our framework consists of the following three key components: (1) We employ discrete wavelet transform that decomposes a complicated waveform into sub-band wavelets, which helps FreGrad to operate on a simple and concise feature space, (2) We design a frequency-aware dilated convolution that elevates frequency awareness, resulting in generating speech with accurate frequency information, and (3) We introduce a bag of tricks that boosts the generation quality of the proposed model. In our experiments, FreGrad achieves 3.73.7 times faster training time and 2.22.2 times faster inference speed compared to baseline while reducing the model size by 1.51.5 times (only 1.781.78M parameters) without sacrificing the output quality. We provide the synthesized audio samples at: \url{https://mm.kaist.ac.kr/projects/FreGrad/}.한국과학기술원 :전기및전자공학부

Effect of large graphene particle size on structure, optical property and photocatalytic activity of graphene-titanate nanotube composites

    No full text
Available online 19 October 2021In this work we investigate the crystal transformation and optical properties of hydrothermal titania nanotube (TNT) when combining with large size of exfoliated graphene achieved by electrochemical process (EC-Gr). The TNT monoclinic structure has been changed to TiO2 anatase phase when TNT was grown in the presence of graphene dispersion. The effect of graphene on the evolution of TNT crystal could be understood by the interaction of carbon elements in graphene and Ti4+ ions in the titania structure. Due to the carrier separation which reduced recombination rate of excited photoelectrons and holes revealed by photoluminescence characterizations, the visible light photocatalytic activity in degradation of methylene blue in solution of the composite was enhanced. The photocatalytic enhancement was discussed and clarified based on UV–vis diffuse absorption spectra and time-resolved photoluminescence investigation.Vo Cao Minh, Phan Tan Dat, Pham Thi Thuy, Nguyen Xuan Sang, Nguyen Tri Tuan, Tran Thanh Tung, Dusan Losi

Fleshy Spectacles and Broken Hearts:The Hookup/Displacement/Barhopping/Drama Tour

This presentation explores the creative vision of Xandra Ibarra’s mobile community performance, ‘The Hookup/Displacement/Barhopping/Drama Tour’, to think about urban queer spaces, minoritarian belonging, and trans-temporal world-making. Winner of the 2018 Queer | Art | Prize, Chicana artist Ibarra’s piece consists of a pop-up walking tour in which she invites community members to join her in revisiting queer Latinx and lesbian historic sites lost to gentrification in San Francisco’s Mission District. As participants move from one location to the next, we are invited to not only remember, but also re-enact the vibrant barhopping scenes of the queer and trans immigrant communities that used to dominate the neighborhood before the tech boom of the 1990s. The piece also includes a series of material artifacts crafted by Ibarra that mimic, distort, and ridicule the language of the state through multiple over-lapping registers of Spanish, English, and queer linguistic word play that challenge the state’s authority over public space. Set against the sanitizing project of San Francisco’s tech-based gentrification efforts, this talk thinks about how this embodied mobile performance functions as the refusal of racialized queer erasure. It draws on José Esteban Muñoz’s ideas of ‘feeling brown’ and Elizabeth Freeman’s formulation of ‘erotohistoriography’ to explore how accumulated intergenerational desires for public expressions of queer racialized grief, inter-generational touch, and collective outrage play out against the walls of a haunted urban landscape. Shear behavior of fiber-reinforced concrete hollow-core slabs under elevated temperatures

    No full text
Experimental results of shear investigations on six hollow-core slabs with and without fibers cast by the extrusion method and tested under elevated temperatures are presented here. The purpose is to investigate shear behavior of precast/prestressed concrete hollow-core (PCHC) slabs using different types of fiber and fiber contents to resist fire effects. Three types of fiber including polypropylene (PP), hooked steel, and high-strength/straight steel fibers were employed. Two volume fractions of PP fibers (0.11 and 0.22%) and of steel fibers (0.51 and 0.89%) were examined. The effectiveness of PP fibers and steel fibers with different contents on structural performance of fire-exposed hollow-core slabs was quantified. Experimental results showed that the use of PP fibers increased resistance of concrete to explosive spalling, while resistance to load and elevated temperatures was substantially enhanced with the use of steel fibers. In addition, web-shear failure at an early stage of fire exposure was observed in all specimens without fibers and those with only PP fibers, exhibiting premature/brittle behavior. However, with the use of steel fibers, failure mode shifted from web-shear to flexural-shear or even flexural failure. Ductility and toughness of steel-fiber specimens subjected to elevated temperatures were also significantly enhanced. Test results from the experimental studies were then used to verify finite element (FE) models that simulated fire behavior of PCHC slabs with and without fibers. Good agreement between the test results and the FE models in terms of furnace temperature at failure, maximum deflection, and failure mode was obtained, thus verifying the numerical models. The verified FE models were then used to investigate web-shear mechanism of PCHC slabs exposed to fire. It is shown that temperature-induced tensile stresses in concrete webs (instead of temperature-induced reduction in strength of concrete and strands) governed web-shear behavior of PCHC slabs under elevated temperatures.Ministry of National Development (MND)National Research Foundation (NRF)The first author recognizes the support of the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE), Vietnam for granting the first author a sabbatical leave to conduct this research project at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
