Pragmatic Case Studies as a Source of Unity in Applied Psychology
No full textTo unify or not to unify applied psychology: that is the question. In this article we review pendulum swings in the historical efforts to answer this question—from a comprehensive, positivist, “top-down,” deductive yes between the 1930s and the early 60s, to a postmodern no since then. A rationale and proposal for a limited, “bottom-up,” inductive yes in applied psychology is then presented, employing a case-based paradigm that integrates both positivist and postmodern themes and components. This paradigm is labeled “pragmatic psychology” and, its specific use of case studies, the “Pragmatic Case Study Method” (“PCS Method”). We call for the creation of peer-reviewed journal-databases of pragmatic case studies as a foundational source of unifying applied knowledge in our discipline. As one example, the potential of the PCS Method for unifying different angles of theoretical regard is illustrated in an area of applied psychology, psychotherapy, via the case of Mrs. B. The article then turns to the broader historical and epistemological arguments for the unifying nature of the PCS Method in both applied and basic psychology.Peer reviewe

No full textEl objetivo del estudio fue determinar la relación del planeamiento estratégico institucional y la calidad de gestión en el Hospital Regional Daniel Alcides Carrión Pasco, 2022, según el tipo de investigación aplicada, nivel relacional; diseño correlacional, una población de 297 trabajadores y una muestra de 167 personas, técnica encuesta, instrumentos escala de Likert.
De acuerdo al objetivo general e hipótesis general se llegó a la conclusión: Existe relación significativa del planeamiento estratégico institucional y la calidad de gestión en el Hospital Regional Daniel Alcides Carrión Pasco, 2022.
De acuerdo a los objetivos específicos y mediante las pruebas de hipótesis específicos se llegó a la conclusión:

No full textEl objetivo de la investigación fue determinar cómo la administración de proyectos de inversión pública se relaciona con la reducción de la pobreza del distrito de Chacayán, Provincia Daniel Alcides Carrión 2018-2023, estudio que se desarrolló con el tipo de investigación aplicada, método dialéctico, diseño correlacional, con una población de 2006 habitantes del distrito de Chacayán, de los cuales 322 fue la muestra probabilística.
De acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos para la hipótesis general y cumpliendo con el objetivo general se ha llegado a la conclusión: La administración de proyectos de inversión pública se relaciona significativamente con la reducción de la pobreza en el distrito de Chacayán, Provincia Daniel Alcides Carrión 2018-2022.
Según los resultados para las hipótesis y objetivos específicos planteados se llegó a las siguientes conclusiones: a) La organización y dirección de los proyectos de inversión pública se relaciona significativamente con la reducción de la pobreza en el distrito de Chacayán, Provincia Daniel Alcides Carrión 2018-2022. b) La capacidad técnica de los proyectos de inversión pública se relaciona significativamente con la reducción de la pobreza en el distrito de Chacayán, Provincia Daniel Alcides Carrión 2018-2022. c) La planificación y control de los proyectos de inversión pública se relaciona significativamente con la reducción de la pobreza en el distrito de Chacayán, Provincia Daniel Alcides Carrión 2018-2022. d) Los recursos económicos de los proyectos de inversión pública se relacionan significativamente con la reducción de la pobreza en el distrito de Chacayán, Provincia Daniel Alcides Carrión 2018-2022. e) La participación conjunta de los proyectos de inversión pública se relaciona significativamente con la reducción de la pobreza en el distrito de Chacayán, Provincia Daniel Alcides Carrión 2018-2022.Tesi
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textDr. Daniel B. Plyler discusses his career at UNC-Wilmington. Dr. Plyler came to Wilmington College in the Fall of 1966 to teach in the biology department. He discusses the various roles he has held, including that of biology professor, department chair, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, academic Dean, and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He was also the first director of the Marince Science program. Dr. Plyler began the phased retirement program in 1999, and then officially retired in 2001
