Bielefeld (Germany): Bielefeld University; 2007.This dissertation examines how the process of creating the "Hong-dae cultural district" in Seoul has involved the mobilisation of various social groups and triggered the (re)institutionalisation of the meaning of "the cultural". It seeks to explicate how a cultural policy project can stimulate the emergence of social groups, which challenge existing policy provisions and laws and lead to the (re)institutionalisation of "Hong-dae culture". In so doing, the author will be able to simultaneously take account of the issues of agency, structure and culture by explicating the relationship between cultural policy and social change

No full textreservedOgnuno di noi è stato investito dalle notizie drammatiche, nei giornali o alla televisione, che riportano casi di individui, apparentemente sani ed atleti professionisti, che muoiono improvvisamente durante o alla fine di una performance sportiva o sui banchi di scuola. Ogni anno, in Italia, si contano circa 60000 persone colpite da arresto cardiaco. La causa di queste perdite premature sono degli eventi aritmici fatali. Di fronte a questi eventi cardiaci improvvisi, interrompere il ‘cortocircuito’ del cuore, mediante la defibrillazione cardiaca tempestiva (entro 2 minuti dal momento del malore) appresenta una strategia salvavita. I dati scientifici dimostrano infatti che l’intervento precoce con defibrillatore assicura la sopravvivenza nel 46% dei casi di arresto cardiaco, un valore che sale al 93% in città con una distribuzione capillare dei defibrillatori automatici esterni (DAE). Anche se grazie all’emanazione della legge Mulè e del decreto Balduzzi la diffusione dei DAE sta aumentando, in molti luoghi pubblici la loro presenza è ancora limitata e manca una sensibilizzazione e preparazione dei cittadini al loro utilizzo. A supporto di questo, da uno studio precedente è emerso che il 44% degli studenti iscritti a corsi di laurea in Professioni Sanitarie dell’Università di Padova non è in grado di utilizzare un DAE e/o teme conseguenze legali. Questo progetto di tesi si inserisce nell’ambito di un’operazione strategica più ampia che coinvolge l’Università di Padova e la Centrale Operativa Suem 118 - Azienda Ospedale Università Padova e che ha come scopo l’attrezzatura dei principali poli universitarie con i DAE e la divulgazione della conoscenza circa il loro utilizzo nella popolazione universitaria e non. Per tale motivo, abbiamo anzitutto somministrato un questionario in forma anonima a studenti iscritti ai corsi di Laurea in Infermieristica, Fisioterapia e Medicina e Chirurgia dell’Università di Padova per valutare lo stato delle conoscenze possedute circa l’utilizzo del DAE. I dati verranno analizzati con i preposti alla sicurezza dell’Università di Padova e il Direttore Centrale Operativa Suem 118 - Azienda Ospedale Università Padova (Obiettivo#1). In collaborazione con il Direttore della Centrale Operativa Suem abbiamo valutato e registrato la geo-localizzazione dei DAE negli Istituti universitari della città di Padova (Obiettivo#2). Infine, dato il ruolo fondamentale dell’infermiere nella promozione e protezione della salute della collettività, abbiamo studiato un video tutorial da somministrare tramite i social per diffondere alla popolazione studentesca e non la conoscenza circa l’uso dei DAE e le manovre di rianimazione cardiopolmonare (Obiettivo#3). Tale disegno progettuale tiene conto della responsabilità dell’infermiere nell’incentivare un cambiamento sociale, quale preparare il personale extra-ospedaliero all’utilizzo del DAE, per ridurre l’incidenza di eventi fatali improvvisi nella popolazione

Singing the landscape: "Bran Nue Dae"
No full textEver since they were first encountered by Europeans, Australia's indigenous peoples have been objectified and misrepresented within an essentialist white discourse of 'Aboriginalism'. It is important to recognise, however, that Aboriginality is not, and has never been, a singular, fixed and empirically knowable thing; rather, Aborigines have always been the bearers and producers of diverse and highly adaptable cultures. The musical drama Bran Nue Dae, written by Jimmy Chi and the band Kuckles, celebrates this cultural diversity, but also the sense of racial solidarity which characterises contemporary Aboriginality. In so doing, the play also celebrates Aboriginal survival of and resistance to the continuing oppression of blacks by state institutions, financial interests and broad sections of the public. And while Bran Nue Dae certainly alludes to the past, to the forces of history and tradition, it marshalls these forces as ways of working towards new beginnings, towards a 'bran nue dae' in the continuum of Aboriginal culture and history

Trajectories of a DAE near a pseudo-equilibrium
No full textWe consider a class of differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) defined by analytic nonlinearities and study its singular solutions. The main assumption used is that the linearization of the DAE represents a Kronecker index-2 matrix pencil and that the constraint manifold has a quadratic fold along its singularity. From these assumptions we obtain a normal form for the DAE where the presence of the singularity and its effects on the dynamics of the problem are made explicit in the form of a quasi-linear differential equation. Subsequently, two distinct types of singular points are identified through which there pass exactly two analytic solutions: pseudo-nodes and pseudo-saddles. We also demonstrate that a singular point called a pseudo-node supports an uncountable infinity of solutions which are not analytic in general. Moreover, akin to known results in the literature for DAEs with singular equilibria, a degenerate singularity is found through which there passes one analytic solution such that the singular point in question is contained within a quasi-invariant manifold of solutions. We call this type of singularity a pseudo-centre and it provides not only a manifold of solutions which intersects the singularity, but also a local flow on that manifold which solves the DAE
