IFLA/UNESCO Multicultural Library Manifesto Toolkit
This toolkit was developed to give practical approaches on how libraries can apply the concepts in the Manifesto. Similar to the hard work dedicated to writing the Manifesto, the section began in 2012 to work rigorously on the development of the toolkit. The IFLA/UNESCO Multicultural Library Manifesto Toolkit was launched at the 2014 80th IFLA General Conference and Assembly in Lyon, France to a large audience of conference attendees anxious to have a toolkit to assist libraries in planning, applying, and sustaining the principles and actions described in the Manifesto. In December 2018 the section reviewed the toolkit and translated it into Chinese. Since then, we have added translations into Japanese (July 2019), Russian (February 2020) and Spanish (July 2020). The final English version was reviewed and updated by Section Member Le Yang and Nicholas Demetriades

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Incidence of post-traumatic hydrocephalus in traumatic brain injury patients that underwent DC versus those that were managed without DC: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Introduction: There is an ongoing debate whether Decompressive Craniectomy (DC) serves as an independent risk factor for the development of Post-traumatic Hydrocephalus (PTH). Research question: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to compare the incidence of PTH in TBI patients that underwent DC versus those that were managed without DC. Materials and methods: The literature was systematically reviewed to identify studies with specific inclusion criteria: (1) Randomized Controlled Trials and observational studies with more than 10 patients in each study arm, (2) comparing the incidence of PTH, (3) in patients aged ≥15 years old, (4) that either underwent DC or received other treatment (non-DC). (5) Only studies in English were included and (6) no restrictions were applied on publication date. The pooled Odds Ratio (OR) and Confidence Interval (CI) were calculated. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the ROBINS and RoB 2.0 tools. Results: Evidence from six articles was synthesized, incorporating data from 2522 patients. A statistically significant higher occurrence of PTH [OR (95% CI): 4.84 (2.51, 9.31); Pz < 0.00001] was identified in patients undergoing DC for TBI when compared to those that were managed without DC. The same was true when only patients with severe TBI were included in the analysis [OR (95% CI): 2.87 (1.85, 4.43); Pz < 0.00001]. Discussion and conclusion: Our study has shown, within limitations, a clear association between DC and PTH. Further prospective studies, providing high-quality evidence, are needed to definitively establish any causative relationship between DC and PTH

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Characterisation of the Soft-switched Single-Active Bridge Topology Employing a Novel Control Scheme for High-power DC-DC Applications
The half-bridge SAB topology is the simplest soft-switched topology known to the authors and is firstly presented in (G.D. Demetriades). In the present paper the SAB topology is thoroughly studied and the aspects as stability and efficiency are addressed as well. High-frequency oscillations occurring during the discontinuous-time interval are reported.</p
