The aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive discussion of the use of the Ellison and Glaeser index and subsequently to carry out a descriptive analysis of the geographical concentration of the manufacturing sector in Belgium. To assess the degree of concentration, individual plant data on wage and salary earners are used, with a relatively fine geographical breakdown (districts and townships). No full textIn Belgium, town and country development is set under the exclusive competence of the Regions. This paper shows the characteristics and perspectives of Land Planning in the Walloon and Flemish Regions. A brief historical survey of town and country planning in both regions is followed by an outline of the most important instruments to pursue a spatial policy. A third part presents the main features of the respective plans and schemes of orientation as framework of the territorial policy for the medium range.L'aménagement du territoire belge relevant de compétences régionales, ce papier envisage ses caractéristiques et perspectives en Régions flamande et wallonne . The Latin-Breton-French dictionary written by Jehan Lagadeuc gives valuable informations on the type of Middle French known in Brittany at the end of the XVth c. : first attestations, new derivatives, variants of the Western dialect, peculiar meanings, and etymological informations. This document, however, has been relatively neglected till now by French lexicographers - as the author demonstrates in the case of Godefroy’s dictionary, where the Catholicon is used in an eclectic manner. After proving that this lexicon has its place amongst the medieval French dictionaries, and that a Middle French thesaurus should use this document systematically, the author brings to light an evolution between the different editions of the Catholicon : firstly, French use had changed, the first printed version being already obsolete at the time of its publication (1499) ; secondly, the number of dialectalisms tended to be reduced in the subsequent reeditions. Also, a study of some phonetic features peculiar to Western French and of some regionalisms.Le Dictionnaire latin-breton-français de Jehan Lagadeuc apporte des informations précieuses sur le français connu en Bretagne à la fin du XVe s. : premières attestations, nouveaux dérivés, variantes dialectales de l’Ouest, sens particuliers, et indications étymologiques. Or cette source a été jusque ici relativement négligée par les lexicographes du français - comme le montre l’auteur à propos du dictionnaire de Godefroy, qui utilise le Catholicon de façon «éclectique». Montrant que ce dictionnaire a sa place parmi tous les dictionnaires français médiévaux, et qu’un trésor du moyen français doit utiliser cette source de façon systématique, l’auteur met à jour une évolution entre les différentes versions du Catholicon : c’est d’abord l’usage du français qui a évolué, la première version étant déjà archaïsante lors de sa parution en 1499 ; d’autre part les rééditions ont cherché à limiter le nombre de dialectalismes. The traditional arts and crafts of turnery or mashrabiya
No full textFor centuries, the mashrabiya as a traditional architectural element has been recognized and used by a broad spectrum of Muslim and non-Muslim nations. In addition to its aesthetic appeal and social component, the element was used to control natural ventilation and light. This paper will analyze the phenomenon of its use socially, historically, artistically and environmentally. The paper will investigate in depth the typology of the screen; how the different techniques, forms and designs affect the function of channeling direct sunlight, generating air flow, increasing humidity, and therefore, regulating or conditioning the internal climate of a space. Also, in relation to cultural values and social norms, one can ask how the craft functioned, and how certain characteristics of the mashrabiya were developed to meet various needs. Finally, the study of its construction will be considered in relation to artistic representation, abstract geometry, as well as other elements of its production.M.A.Includes bibliographical referencesby Jehan Mohame

No full textA first study tends to establish that Goniotae or Goniatai from Marmarica and the southern surroundings of Lake Mariout, probably some « Marmaridai », take their name from a locality Gonia, near modern Tobrook. During late antiquity, they made raids asfar as El Fayum. The second study gives the interpretation of an inscription from Vsinaza (South part of the Algiers region). It seems, according to the author, that the Roman administration, circa 203 B.C., has moved from the province of Africa some populi (communities subjected to tax) to people oppida on the new southern frontier of Mauretania Caesarensis.La premiere étude entend établir que les Goniotes ou Goniates de la Marmarique et des abords méridionaux du lac Mariout, probablement des « Marmarides », tirent leur nom d'un lieu-dit Gonia, proche de l'actuel Tobrouk. Dans l'Antiquité tardive, ils poussaient leurs raids jusqu'au Fayoum. La seconde étude est l'interprétation d'une inscription dVsinaza (Sud-Algérois). Bibliography: l. 90.The music which is the subject of this study is found in L’Oeuvre d’Orgue de Jehan Alain, Tome I (Trois Danses) and Tome II (Litanies), published in Paris by Alphonse Leduc. The publication date is 1942, two years after Alain's death. An earlier edition of the Litanies was issued in 1938 by the same publisher. A comparison of the two editions shows a
few differences in the matter of accidentals, the more recent edition being the authentic one as verified by M. André Marchal. In the Trois Danses, and, more especially, in the Deuils, certain inaccuracies in the rhythmic notation due to careless engraving have been logically corrected through comparison by this author
