Towards the concept of semantic halo
This paper is focused on the “semantic halo of meter” («семантический ореол метра»), one of the most recognizable, popular, and widely used concepts in Russian verse studies. After the publication of Kiril Taranovsky’s article “On the Relationships between Verse Rhythm and Theme” (1963), in which the author addresses the issue by looking at the Russian trochaic pentameter and deals with one particular rhythmic variation of the specific meter, most scholars who have adopted Taranovsky’s perspective have overlooked this emphasis therefore effectively shifting focus from rhythm to meter. Mikhail L. Gasparov pointed out that “five semantic shades” are observed around trochaic pentameter. “These are (in the reverse order of relevance): Night, Landscape, Love, Death (triumphant or defied), and Road”. From this perspective, the author analyzes Osip Mandelshtam’s poem “Skilful Lady of Guilty Glances…” This poem has attracted a significant number of monographic studies; however, scholars have never examined the poem’s meter and its connection with the semantic halo of trochaic pentameter.</jats:p

IMMUNOLOGICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL STATUS OF THE ORAL CAVITY IN ELDERLY PATIENTS USING REMOVABLE LAMINAR DENTURES
Aim - analysis of immunological and microbiological indicators of oral cavity in elderly patients who use complete and partial removable dentures. Materials and methods. 42 patients with combinations of complete and partial absence of teeth were involved in the research. The group included 27 women and 15 men, whose age varied from 60 to 74 years. All patients used complete and partial removable dentures. Results. The results show marked abnormality of microbiocenosis of the oral mucosa in patients engaged in the research. Conclusion. The results of the microbiological research of the oral mucosa in elderly patients who use removable dentures demonstrate significant dysbiotic changes in the resident and transient oral microflora both in quantitative and qualitative indicators
EVALUATION OF Nd:YAG LASER IMPACT ON PARODENTIUM TISSUES
Aim - improving the method of laser therapy in complex treatment of periodontal diseases. Materials and methods. By using methods of light microscopy and morphometry, the dynamics of morphological changes in gum tissues after the traditional open curettage treatment of periodontal pockets by neodymium laser (Nd:YAG, 1064 nm) have been studied. Results. Angenesis was achieved after laser treatment. Conclusion: Morphological picture of gum tissues after complex treatment of periodontal diseases with the use of neodymium laser (Nd:YAG, 1064 nm) conformed to the normal structure of the mucous membrane without distinct signs of inflammation
The article presents a clinical case of “silent” ACTH-secreting pituitary carcinoma with multiple extra- and intracranial metastases. The patient received combined treatment including transsphenoidal removal of the tumor, 18 courses of palliative chemotherapy, 3 courses of stereotactic irradiation for primary tumor, therapy with cabergoline and somatostatin analogues. The patient lived 2 years and 9 months after the primary diagnosis of the tumor was made. There was a decrease in size of the primary tumor after radiotherapy, and chemotherapy resulted in a decrease in the metabolic activity of metastases which increased the life expectancy of the patient.
