Riflessioni su Pyrgi: scavi e ricerche nelle aree del santuario
English summary: This volume collects twelve essays devoted entirely to the sanctuary of Pyrgi. The first part provides an overview of the wide and varied 'Southern Area Sacra', analyzed through both the general aspects of topographic and stratigraphic character. The second part contains essays devoted to the Monumental Sanctuary and the territory that is the epicenter of the "sacred area," accounting for the continuation of studies and the continuous deepening of knowledge. The book concludes with an overview of future plans for a museum, designed by the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Southern Etruria. Italian description: Il volume raccoglie dodici saggi interamente dedicati al santuario di Pyrgi, noto da tempo alla comunita scientifica internazionale, ma ancora ricco di novita emerse nelle indagini degli ultimi decenni. La prima parte offre un quadro ampio e articolato dell' Area Sacra Meridionale, analizzata sia negli aspetti generali di carattere stratigrafico e topografico, che nelle specifiche valenze rituali, nel regime dell' offerta votiva, nell' acquisizione e funzionalizzazione di specifiche forme ceramiche di importazione, senza tralasciare il ricco corpus epigrafico. La seconda parte contiene saggi dedicati al Santuario Monumentale e al territorio di cui l' area sacra costituisce l' epicentro, dando conto del prosieguo degli studi e del continuo approfondimento delle conoscenze. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

In the important volume The Restlessness of the Negative, which has been dedicated to Hegel, Jean-Luc Nancy rethinks the rapport between the ‘Herrschaft und Knechtschaft’ and ‘I’ - ‘other’ dialectical discourse. He does not enclose them within the dialectics of the negative but rather, he sees them within the realm of ‘restlessness’, within the movement of shifting that makes up the corporeal and singular form of every ‘I’.
From the deconstruction of the paradigm of the subject, brought to light by Nancy in the volume Ego sum, it is apparent that the French philosopher intends to give importance to the value of speculation and seeks to extend the semantics of the concept of the body through a continuous and substantial dialogue between ancient and modern thought.
Therefore, Nancy emphasizes the urgent need to think of the body outside of the ‘personal-impersonal’ dichotomy or the ‘bios-zoe’ concept and gives voice to the political, philosophical issues of our time
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. "Theory of activated-rate processes under shear with application to shear-induced aggregation of colloids"
Using an approximation scheme within the convective diffusion (two-body Smoluchowski) equation framework, we unveil the shear-driven aggregation mechanism at the origin of structure formation in sheared colloidal systems. The theory, verified against numerics and experiments, explains the induction time followed by explosive (irreversible) rise of viscosity observed in charge-stabilized colloidal and protein systems under steady shear. The Arrhenius-type equation with shear derived here, extending Kramers' theory in the presence of shear, clearly demonstrates the important role of shear drive in activated-rate processes as they are encountered in soft condensed matter
Applications of dewetting in micro and nanotechnology
Dewetting is a spontaneous phenomenon where a thin film on a surface ruptures into an ensemble of separated objects, like droplets, stripes, and pillars. Spatial correlations with characteristic distance and object size emerge spontaneously across the whole dewetted area, leading to regular motifs with long-range order. Characteristic length scales depend on film thickness, which is a convenient and robust technological parameter. Dewetting is therefore an attractive paradigm for organizing a material into structures of well-defined micro-or nanometre-size, precisely positioned on a surface, thus avoiding lithographical processes. This tutorial review introduces the reader to the physical-chemical basis of dewetting, shows how the dewetting process can be applied to different functional materials with relevance in technological applications, and highlights the possible strategies to control the length scales of the dewetting process
