Abstract : This work has as main goal to see how is short-term capital management in technology companies of Florianopolis. In the theoretical framework, several concepts were presented to the term "working capital" which, generally, consists in manage the resources themselves or others needed to sustain operating the business routine activities. Over the years, Florianópolis has become an internationally recognized technological center by the existence of significant technology companies (EBTs), incubators and institutes in the region. The EBTs differentiate themselves from others by the existence of a significant technological effort, in which innovation is the key for their competitive strategies and investments are concentrated in research and development. From the application of a structured online questionnaire (survey) in 79 companies of 281 companies part of the population associated to ACATE - a very importante organization that represent the technology companies - and located in Florianópolis, there was a representation of engineers managing the companies. With respect to financial planning 58.2% of managers reported that they are engaged in the planning of short-term funds and only 13.9% with the financing of the company in the long term. Over 45% responded that inventory management is not applicable to the company's activity. Approximately 95% of the sample uses cash flow and have knowledge about their need for working capital. Still, 53% said they use operational sources to remedy its need for working capital and other 48.1% financial loans held for such purpose. The results showed a gap between theories statements in corporate finance and the management routines in EBTs. And, therefore, some changes need to happen in working capital theories in order to simplify and democratize the knowledge of financial management techniques

IMPROVING THE MATERIAL SELECTION PROCESS IN PRODUCT DESIGN ACTIVITY: AN OVERVIEW OF MATERIAL REPOSITORIES
Information about innovations in material science and material selection [1] is central in the product design discipline, not only for their immediate consequence on functional aspects of products parts but also for several different reasons. Over the years, an increasing number of material properties and
characteristics have been considered for pursuing an accurate materials selection to govern and manage all information related to materials at several levels, from technical, sensorial, intangible, and ethical aspects. In previous works [8], a critical analysis of existing digital tools has already been conducted, providing an analysis of the advantages and peculiarity of the different sources. In this paper, the authors analyzed a selection of existing online materials repositories. Still, they tried to implement this analysis with more information to build and provide a tool for students and professionals. A table has been built to catalog and collect information of the diverse sources through systematic study and classification of the different material repositories found in literature and on the web. This activity has been carried on to provide, at a glance, an overview of the different repositories and ease information gathering activity for material selection in various contexts, depending on the project development level and the referring user of each library. Finally, the table obtained by the desk analysis has been embedded in two different activities: one involving professionals and the other involving students to test the efficiency of the tool built. The activities outputs and results of the table application will be presented and discussed
I TUMORI A CELLULE GERMINALI: CLINICA E TERAPIA
WI.S.P.HER (WIreless Sensors for the Preservation of artistic HERitage)
We propose a methodology based on cooperating wireless sensors to diagnose, control, and better preserve artistic heritage. Our aim is to provide a feasible framework to balance preservation issues with usability issues, both for open air buildings and for closed ones. The proposed methodology benefits from networks of cooperating sensors in two respects. Firstly, sensors are used to diagnose accurately the state of a building, to draw accurate thermo-hydrographic maps, and to understand the dynamics of exchange between the building and the environment (caused either by natural seasonal fluctuations, or by the use of the building). Secondly, sensors are used in the management of a building to react effectively to sudden changes of the environment, thereby enabling a better preservation strategy. We present an application of our methodology to a concrete example: Arena di Verona in Italy.
The rest of paper is organised as follows. The problem we want to study is defined in Section 1, while Section 2 presents the state of the art of currently employed diagnostic methodologies and preservation strategies. Section 3 introduces our framework, whose benefits are analysed in Section 4. Section 5 applies the methods to a concrete example: Arena di Verona
come leganti e pigmenti, e monitorarne l’andamento aiuta a prevenire
ADVANCED GEOMATICS AND CONSERVATION MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR PRESERVING 20th CENTURY ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE
This paper discusses the relationship between advanced geomatics and Conservation Management Plan (CMP), by deepening the case of a CMP dedicated to the conservation of the 20th century architectural heritage. A number of issues have already been discussed on how the advanced survey techniques contribute to the conservation field for the last decades (e.g. Laser Scanner, HDR, GIS, intelligence vs. abundance, B.I.M, VT/IM etc.). The authors analyse pros and cons of each technique with respect to the main purposes of a CMP: 1.knowledge, 2.value assessment, 3.data sharing and dissemination of results, 4.support for conservation and restoration activities, 5.support for the planned conservation of buildings / facility management over time. With respect to the research on the CMP for the National Art Schools of Havana, the conclusions focus on the need to share results to non-specialist stakeholders, and on the possibility to combine different scales of analysis and a plurality of buildings with various levels of interest and conservation needs
