Synchronization in cellular spin torque oscillator arrays
Spin torque nanodevices could provide a platform for computation beyond Moore's law. The network of spin oscillators can have only local, cellular interconnections because of the underlying physics: the interaction between the oscillators happens through the magnetic field. In this paper we describe the dynamics of weakly coupled spin-torque oscillator networks and how the dynamics of these cellular arrays can be used for problem solving. We will describe how the phase shift in a synchronized array can be calculated between the elements and we will also show a simple example how the dynamics of a cellular array can be used to solve simple tasks
Optimum currency area theory: A selective review
The first part of this paper is a review of significant papers in the vast literature on optimum currency area (OCA) theory. The author focuses on the main classical contributions, then considers modern treatment of OCA theory. The second part considers empirical literature on the types of geographical areas that might constitute optimum currency areas, particularly with respect to asymmetry and symmetry of shocks.
CIDRE: an illumination-correction method for optical microscopy
Uneven illumination affects every image acquired by a microscope. It is often overlooked, but it can introduce considerable bias to image measurements. The most reliable correction methods require special reference images, and retrospective alternatives do not fully model the correction process. Our approach overcomes these issues for most optical microscopy applications without the need for reference images

An Associative Memory with oscillatory CNN arrays using spin torque oscillator cells and spin-wave interactions architecture and End-to-end Simulator
An Associative Memory is built by three consecutive components: (1) a CMOS preprocessing unit generating input feature vectors from picture inputs, (2) an AM cluster generating signature outputs composed of spintronic oscillator (STO) cells and local spin-wave interactions, as an oscillatory CNN (O- CNN) array unit, applied several times arranged in space, and (3) a classification unit (CMOS). The end to end design of the preprocessing unit, the interacting O-CNN arrays, and the classification unit is embedded in a learning and optimization procedure where the geometric distances between the STOs in the O-CNN arrays play a crucial role. The O-CNN array has an input vector as a 1D array of oscillator frequencies, and the synchronized O-CNN array codes the output as the phases of the output 1D array. The typical O-CNN array has 1-3 rows of STOs. Simplified STO and interaction macro models are used. A typical example is shown using an End-to-end Simulato
Conceptualization of a real-time information processing platform for context-aware informing cyber-physical systems
Informing cyber-physical systems (I-CPSs) are designed to accomplish sensing, reasoning and informing activities in dynamic context. In order tosimplify and accelerate the design and implementation process of multiple context-aware ICPSs, we are developing an information sensing, computing and actuating (SCA) platform that can be used as a central module of these systems. This paper presents the concept of a SCA platform. Thefunctionality of the platform includes development of context-dependent strategies to adapt the sensing, reasoning and informing behaviors of the platform to various dynamic contexts. There are four constituents of the platform: (1) a generic kernel, (2) built-in elements, (3) add-on components, and (4) system interfaces. The paper also discusses both the internal and external integration mechanism of the SCA platform, which can be customized according to the needs of specific I-CPS applications by extending the generic kernel with various functional built-in elements and add-on components. The feasibility andapplicability of the platform have been tested through a case study: an indoor fire evacuation guiding system. The proposed platform provides a useful package of functionalities, alleviates the burden of developers, and speeds up the development of applications specific context-aware I-CPS.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work publicCyber-Physical System

Mastering 3D Printing
Mastering 3D Printing shows you how to get the most out of your printer, including how to design models, choose materials, work with different printers, and integrate 3D printing with traditional prototyping to make techniques like sand casting more efficient. You've printed key chains. You've printed simple toys. Now you're ready to innovate with your 3D printer to start a business or teach and inspire others. Joan Horvath has been an educator, engineer, author, and startup 3D printing company team member. She shows you all of the technical details you need to know to go beyond simple model printing to make your 3D printer work for you as a prototyping device, a teaching tool, or a business machin
This article draws on queer theories to interrogate the changing norms of maturity, and women’s maturity in particular. On this topic, the television series Girls (HBO, 2012-2017) attracts attention by virtue of the way it narrates the failure of the show’s protagonists to fulfill their dreams in their adult lives. The analysis offered here focuses on the main character, Hannah Horvath, played by Lena Dunham, who created the series. The author initially describes the lack of accomplishment represented by the character, and then demonstrates the aptness of queer approaches in contesting the normative chronology of the character’s path in life. Returning to Girls, he examines the context in which the characters live in order to see how the specificities of this context can lead to redefining or giving greater depth to a queer argument based for the most part on reproductive sexuality. The author concludes by bringing out the potential queer criticism of the negative affects the series sets in motion
