Percurso profissional do piano ao cravo
No full textRelatório de atividade profissional de mestrado em Ensino da MúsicaEste Relatório de Atividade Profissional apresenta o percurso académico e
profissional da autora fazendo referência à docência de piano, de cravo, à sua
experiência no domínio da música de conjunto e da prática de acompanhamento. Nos
capítulos 1 e 2, é descrito o percurso académico e profissional, através de uma
reflexão que incide primordialmente sobre a prática pedagógica nos domínios técnico,
artístico e musical. Como introdução ao percurso profissional é exposta uma breve
contextualização das diversas tipologias de ensino especializado da música
experienciadas pela autora. No terceiro capítulo são mencionados os trabalhos de
natureza científica nomeadamente a Dissertação de Mestrado, a apresentação de
comunicações e a publicação de um artigo. No capítulo 4 é apresentada e analisada a
filosofia de ensino no domínio do piano e do cravo, através do recurso à exposição
dos fundamentos essenciais da docência, dos principais métodos utilizados e de uma
breve análise das semelhanças e diferenças encontradas no ensino dos referidos
instrumentos. As metodologias são corroboradas por referências a tratados
fundamentais na evolução da técnica do cravo. É dedicado um subcapítulo à
motivação para o estudo de cravo, descrevendo as iniciativas desenvolvidas neste
âmbito. Por último é realizada uma reflexão onde são abordados todos os aspectos
essenciais do Relatório.This report presents the educational and professional background of the author
referring to her professional experience in piano and harpsichord teaching as well as
in the field of ensemble music. In chapters 1 and 2, the educational and professional
backgrounds are presented, with a reflection on the author’s teaching practice both in
the technical and musical domains. As an introduction to the professional career of
the author, a brief introduction to the different types of music teaching is exposed.
The third chapter mentions the works of a scientific nature: a master’s thesis, oral
presentations and paper publications. In chapter 4 the author’s philosophy of
education regarding piano and harpsichord is presented and analyzed, with a
description of the principles of teaching, primary methods used, and a brief analysis
of the similarities and differences between the teaching of these instruments. The
methodologies are supported by important references in the evolution of harpsichord
technique. A subchapter is included on the motivation for the study of harpsichord,
presenting the initiatives undertaken by the author in this area. To conclude, a number
of final thoughts are put together, where all key aspects of the report are addressed

Stages for the More Sustainable Farm
No full textCurrently, agricultural farm units are faced with a double and most times contradictory challenge, in order to be successful: on the one hand the invested capital has to be profitable and the economic performance has to be maximised. On the other hand, given the socio-environmental situation, it is necessary to preserve and to protect the environment and natural resources. Given the potential conflict of the two aims, since the satisfaction of one implies the underperformance of the other (and vice versa), the question then is: which is the solution to choose? We intend, in this work, to formulate a farm plan with the purpose of reconciling the criteria of environmental sustainability with that of economic competitiveness. For this achievement we proceed to the comparative study of sustainability of different groups of farms identified in the study area (first evaluation cycle) through MESMIS (“Marco para la Evaluación de Sistemas de Manejo de Recursos Naturales Mediante Indicadores de Sustentabilidad” - Framework for Evaluation of Natural-Resource Systems Handling through Sustainability Indicators) methodology, that allowed to select the more sustainable group of farms. Based on the found potentialities and weakness on these production systems, we stepped to the planning of a production unit of bovine meat, which obeys simultaneously to economic and environmental objectives, using Multicriteria Decision. We finished the work with the sustainability evaluation between groups of farms identified previously and the planned farms (second evaluation cycle), based, again, in the MESMIS methodology, to confirm (or not) the greatest sustainability of the last ones. Estudo da variabilidade intra e inter-anual das trocas entre a Ria Formosa e o oceano - estudo de caso, a barra de Faro-Olhão
No full textDissertação de mestrado, Sistemas Marinhos e Costeiros, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade do Algarve, 2016A Ria Formosa é um sistema de ilhas-barreira localizado na costa sul portuguesa, sob a influência de marés semi-diurnas, constituído por 5 ilhas, 2 penínsulas e 6 barras. É através destas barras que ocorrem as trocas de água com o Oceano Atlântico. O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender o papel da principal barra, a barra de Faro-Olhão, nas trocas de massa (água, nutrientes, clorofila a e sólidos em suspensão) com o oceano costeiro e a sua variação sazonal, dada a elevada importância da produtividade biológica deste ecossistema. Além disso, a influência dos diferentes mecanismos forçadores, incluindo as marés quinzenais, foram analisadas de forma a compreender o seu impacto na atividade fitoplânctónica dentro deste ecossistema e no oceano adjacente. Para alcançar os objetivos desta investigação, foram realizadas medições in situ e amostragens de água de hora a hora ao longo de uma seção selecionada, em 7 ciclos de maré semi-diurnos, abrangendo diferentes condições mareais e estações do ano.
Os resultados mostraram que os principais fatores que explicaram a variabilidade das trocas de massas pela barra de Faro-Olhão foram os processos físicos que predominaram na zona adjacente à lagoa e o ciclo de produtividade fitoplantónica das águas, que se sobrepuseram à influência mareal. Estacionalmente, a barra de Faro-Olhão comportou-se como fonte de matéria nas campanhas da primavera (maré viva) e verão, que contribuiu para o aumento da produtividade biológica na zona costeira. A ocorrência de eventos de afloramento costeiro, particularmente na campanha de outono (maré viva) e no inverno, revelou um importante papel na importação de nutrientes para este sistema lagunar, contribuindo para o aumento da produtividade biológica da Ria Formosa. No entanto, os dias de precipitação que influenciaram a campanha de inverno condicionaram também a exportação de alguns compostos para a zona costeira adjacente, revelando o carácter produtivo da Ria Formosa

This symposium explored the history of fashion curating, the different ways fashion is displayed in museum settings, and how national and regional identities influence fashion exhibitions. The symposium was organized in conjunction with Exhibitionism: 50 Years of The Museum at FIT, which commemorated the rich history of the museum, the site of more than 200 exhibitions since the 1970s.Dr. Alexandra Palmer is the Nora E. Vaughan Senior Curator at the Royal Ontario Museum. She has curated numerous exhibitions including Christian Dior, and she is the author of the book Christian Dior: History and Modernity, 1947–1957

No full textResumo: O artigo aponta o modo como o romance Deus-dará de Alexandra Lucas Coelho, escritora portuguesa contemporânea, pode ser compreendido como um exercício de renegociação da identidade portuguesa em relação a questões referentes à colonização no Brasil. Mais do que isso, problematiza-se como, por meio da estratégia da paródia no texto ficcional, a autora consegue expressar uma necessidade e possibilidade de se redefinir pelo outro em um movimento contrário ao do discurso colonial – o que também ocorre em suas entrevistas e em suas narrativas de viagens, tais como em Vai, Brasil e Cinco Voltas na Bahia e um beijo para Caetano Veloso. Palavras-chave: identidade portuguesa; paródia; pós-modernismo; escrita portuguesa contemporânea; Alexandra Lucas Coelho. Abstract: The article observes how the novel Deus-dará, by Alexandra Lucas Coelho, a Portuguese contemporary writer consists in an exercise of renegotiation for the Portuguese identity in relation to issues that refer to the colonization process in Brazil. Moreover, this text seeks to show how parody as a fictional literary strategy helps the author in expressing a necessity and a possibility of redefining oneself through the other, in a direction that goes in the opposite way of the colonial speech. This necessity and this possibility also appear in the author’s interviews and travel books, such as Vai, Brasil and Cinco Voltas na Bahia e um beijo para Caetano Veloso, which will also be mentioned in this article.Keywords: Portuguese identity; parody; post-modernism; Portuguese contemporary writing; Alexandra Lucas Coelho

Athaliah and Alexandra: Gender and Queenship in Josephus [Author Accepted Manuscript]
No full textAthaliah and Alexandra were the only two women to rule as queens of Judah/Judaea in their own right and both women’s reigns are reported in Josephus’ writings. Despite their uniqueness, however, Athaliah and Alexandra are rarely compared in scholarship; the former is usually dismissed, and focus centred on the latter. This article contends that there are historical similarities between the two, but literary differences. Josephus could have referred to Athaliah or used elements of her portrayal in his presentation of Alexandra but does not, creating the impression that Alexandra was completely different to her predecessor. It may be instructive, therefore, to consider why Josephus literarily isolates the queens and what this means for his interpretation of Alexandra
