No full textUno de los personajes más visitados de la comedia Hecyra es el adulescens Pánfilo.Se trata de un personaje sumamente complejo cuya conducta en escena -y fuera de ella- exhibeuno de los procedimientos privilegiados de la comicidad terenciana, esto es, la parodiaautorreflexiva. En este artículo nos proponemos demostrar cómo la construcción de un ethos doblepara el personaje de Pánfilo le permite a Terencio parodiar metateatralmente el código mismo dela palliata. Full text linkSelf-vindication is an issue of paramount importance in Seneca’s Epistulae. Particularly, Ep.80’s incipit presents Seneca as an exemplum of how the animus can set itself free from the limits imposed by the outside world. However, this paper argues that the emphasis this letter poses on theatre and unmasking seems to point to the fact that discourse can be turned into a mask that hides the inner difficulties to reach mental libertas. Since this letter mentions the personata felicitas of the delicati (§8), it could be stated that Seneca’s exemplum shows his readers the risk for libertas of becoming personata, and thus of concealing the contradictions of those who have not been able yet to achieve interior freedom.Fil: Correa, Soledad. Full text linkTime and death are central issues in Seneca’s Epistulae. Ep.101 focuses on living each day as if it were complete and the last, which creates a polarity with other letters in the collection where the philosopher longs for immortality. Exemplarity may provide a possible way out of this conundrum. This article argues that the different exempla featured in this letter guide the reader’s attention to Seneca’s exemplary use of time built throughout the collection, and that this strategy allows the writer to transcend the limits of human temporality and reach a form of textual immortality.Fil: Correa, Soledad. LXXVII y LXXVIII Séneca procura utilizar el discurso ejemplar de manera crítica con el objetivo de mostrar que la evaluación moral de una acción no es unívoca, lo cual habilita la posibilidad de concebir vías alternativas para convertirse en un héroe ejemplar. En particular, la Ep. LXXVIII enfatiza cómo la capacidad de superar las molestias físicas y psicológicas de una enfermedad crónica puede permitirle al ´proficiens´ estoico alcanzar un estatus ejemplar. La ´narratio´ autobiográfica situada al comienzo de esta carta guía la atención del lector hacia el ego epistolar en tanto ´exemplum´ viviente de lo que la ´epistula´ defiende.Fil: Correa, Soledad.
