Geographical and cartographic heritage of Pietro Coppo
V delu smo s pomočjo zgodovinskih virov raziskovali življenje in delo beneškega kartografa Pietra Coppa. In this thesis, we studied the life and work of the Venetian cartographer Pietro Coppo using many historical sources. We devoted one chapter to the description of the political, cultural and social situation in Istria in the past, in order to contextualize Coppo\u27s work and evaluate it more accurately. The core of the thesis was the analysis of all preserved Coppo’s documents, with special emphasis on his maps of the Istrian peninsula, which we compared with other best-known maps of the Istrian peninsula from the 16th and 17th centuries. We payed special attention to the Piran Codex, primarily because of its uniqueness, historical significance and the value it has for the world\u27s scientific heritage. In the end, we also presented cartographers and geographers directly influenced by Coppo, as well as researchers who several centuries later investigated his documents and rediscovered this great and influential cartographer

Urban food strategies and plans: considerations on the assessment construction
Abstract In a context of growing attention to the issue of feeding the city, this article focuses on the role of the assessments guiding the processes of urban food policy and planning to reach Sustainable Food Security. The starting point is a collection of experiences dealing with some cities that in recent years have launched strategies for developing healthier and more sustainable food systems. Their analysis highlights the innovations in the construction of cognitive frameworks supporting food policies and planning, as well as the difficulties to explore the food phenomenon on the qualitative and quantitative level. Within a current research meant to address the food agenda in Venice, the authors take advantage from the case studies comparison to propose key themes and investigation methods a preliminary assessment of the existing food system. Considering the strong impact of the huge tourist flow that invests the city, daily, the foodservice sector is considered as the main challenging and strategical core-area for boosting impactful changes in the urban food system
Thiol regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and innate immunity: protein S-thiolation as a novel molecular mechanism
: Inflammation or inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress have often been associated, and thiol antioxidants, particularly glutathione, have often been seen as possible anti-inflammatory mediators. However, whereas several cytokine inhibitors have been approved for drug use in chronic inflammatory diseases, this has not happened with antioxidant molecules. We outline the complexity of the role of protein thiol-disulfide oxidoreduction in the regulation of immunity and inflammation, the underlying molecular mechanisms (such as protein glutathionylation) and the key enzyme players such as Trx (thioredoxin) or Grx (glutaredoxin)
