Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textFibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a rare autosomal dominantly inherited disorder of connective tissue caused by mutations in the gene encoding for ACVR1/ALK2, a bone morphogenetic protein type I receptor. It is mainly characterized by congenital malformations of the great toes and the formation of qualitatively normal bone in extra-skeletal sites leading to severe disability and eventually death. La folie dans <i>La case du commandeur</i> d'Édouard Glissant
No full textDans La case du commandeur, l'auteur antillais Édouard Glissant effectue une focalisation sur une famille, la famille Celat que nous avions déjà rencontrée dans ses précédents romans dont La Lézarde qui eut le prix Goncourt en 1956. Dans notre roman, les différents personnages semblent ici souffrir d'un mal indéterminé qui les ronge de l'intérieur. C'est ce malaise qui touche les personnages que nous avons souhaité étudier dans le cadre de ce mémoire. En effet, après avoir lu essais et romans antérieurs, nous avons pu voir que Glissant partait toujours du même constat : la société antillaise est malade. Notre travail consistera alors à déterminer de quelle manière l'auteur rend compte de ce malaise. Nous poserons alors l'hypothèse que la folie omniprésente peut apparaître comme le symptôme de ce malaise général mais aussi que La case du commandeur peut se présenter comme une aire de travail dans laquelle l'auteur joue avec son écriture afin de la rendre significative de cette folie et où aussi il fait se rejoindre théorie et création littéraire afin d'ouvrir des pistes qui mèneraient à la désaliénation du peuple antillais. Pour valider ces hypothèses, notre étude suivra un cheminement en trois étapes. Premièrement, nous verrons de quelle manière la folie se manifeste chez les personnages en relevant ses différents symptômes puis en en cherchant ses causes. Dans un deuxième temps, nous nous attacherons à démontrer de quelle manière l'auteur manipule son écriture afin de signifier la folie. Et enfin dans un troisième temps, nous essaierons de discerner dans ce texte opaque les différents chemins qui permettraient un dépassement de cette folie et une reconstruction identitaire des personnages. Tout l'enjeu de cette dernière partie résidera dans le fait de savoir si ces chemins mènent réellement quelque part ou si bien au contraire ils demeurent sans issue condamnant les personnages et le peuple antillais à la malemort

No full textFeatures of the embodiment of the author’s position in the essay by I. A. Goncharov “Pepiniere” are considered. The relevance of the study is due to the poorly studied poetics of this work. A review of the scientific literature on relevant topics is performed. Methodological and theoretical definitions are given. The scientific novelty of the article is in the fact that for the first time attention is paid to artistic techniques that allow to identify the author's position in the specified literary text. The author of the article grounds her opinion from the fact that, despite the dominance of the subjective point of view, other characters’ views stand out in the work. It is concluded in the study that the text of the work represents a biographical author and author-creator. It was established that the position of the author-creator is expressed through the title, epigraphs, which are quotes, as well as through different points of view, including the author-character, the author-narrator, the characters of the work. The author of the article dwells in detail on different ways of expressing the points of view of the author-character and the author-narrator. It is proved that the point of view of the author-character and the author-narrator can intersect, they are interchanged. The author's development of the term comic “point of view” is presented in the article
