    Solution of Simple Reference Cases

    No full text
This chapter presents the solution of simple reference cases of frame structures with the use of force method, displacement method or mixed method. The presented cases consider different loading condition (distributed loads, concentrated loads, thermal actions), different boundary conditions (rigid and/or elastic constraints), different geometrical configuration of frame and load (inclined rods, symmetrical and anti-symmetrical load and frame) and different mechanical behaviour of rods (elastic, axially deformable, infinitely rigid in bending)

Anna Achmatova i Šerlok Cholms: liričeskij geroj i geroj narodnyj

    No full text
The new comic about Anna Akhmatova is an instance of transmedial translation; the new narrative however is not based on the writer's work but on her biography. This is justified by Akhmatova's conscious and active construction of her own life mythology. The lyrical hero of Akhmatova's poems started living her own life outside the texts: an analogous phenomenon has been observed concerning the heroes of mass-literature, Sherlock Holmes being an outstanding example. Consequently, the methodology which has been developed for the study of mass culture can be fruitfully applied to high literature – this does not mean that Akhmatova is a masscult writer, but rather that the distinction between both categories is relative

    L'andamento generale della criminalità

    No full text

Equivalent Reinforcement Layer Approach for Bending Design of TRC Members

    No full text
The use of Textile Reinforced Concrete is becoming more and more important both in retrofitting of existing structures and in new constructions. This asks for reliable approaches for the design of structural members. In particular, referring to bending behavior, traditional approaches for Reinforced Concrete structures that account for a perfect bond between concrete and reinforcement cannot be adopted for these kinds of composites where the interaction between reinforcement fabric and concrete plays a key role in the global tensile response of the solution. General characterization approaches refer to the composite as a whole providing a tensile behavior that already takes into account the specific interaction between reinforcement and concrete. The present paper aims at presenting a design approach for bending behavior of these composites that propose the use of an equivalent reinforcement layer of reinforcement, whose mechanical properties are defined by tensile tests on the composite, and that is considered as embedded in the cross section under design. The paper discusses the reliability of the approach, also discussing the dimension and definition of the equivalent reinforcement layer comparing the prediction of the model with experimental results

Precast TRC sandwich panels for energy retrofitting of existing residential buildings: full-scale testing and modelling

In the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, the European Commission financed the project EASEE (2012–2016), which was aimed at developing façade solutions for the energy retrofitting of multi-storey multi-owners existing residential buildings, built in an historical period in which no specific attention was paid to the energy issue. For the outer envelope, the consortium proposed textile reinforced concrete precast sandwich panels. The high durability, high aesthetic potential, low impact on occupant life during installation, and increase in impact resistance make this solution competitive with the exterior insulation and finishing system, now the most widespread energy retrofitting method adopted on existing buildings. Within the project, the panel has been mechanically investigated at multiple scales, and finally applied on some demo-buildings. This paper presents the investigation of the bending behavior of full-size panels up to failure when tested according to four-point bending scheme, focusing the attention on the effects of the production procedure and panel details on the structural behavior. The capability of expanded polystyrene in transferring shear stresses to the external TRC layers—already exhibited by specimens at lab-scale—is here verified on full-size elements. In addition, a numerical model—already validated for lab-scale sandwich beams—is here applied in order to check its reliability for the design of full-scale panel

    Disturbo bipolare e criminalità

    No full text
