The influence of J.S. Bach's contrapuntal style in the 'Well-tempered clavier' on selected piano fugues by Romantic composers

    No full text
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 188-197).This dissertation is concerned with a comparative study of the relationships between the contrapuntal language of J.S. Bach, as evinced in the Well-Tempered Clavier, and fugues for the piano by selected Romantic composers. The research involves a preliminary investigation into the decline of Bach's music in the Classical era and the resurgence thereof in the Romantic era

Le clavier avec ou sans accord : retour sur une controverse oubliée

In this article the author reconsiders the hegemony of the QWERTY keyboard by studying the destiny in personal computing of another type of keyboard, the chord keyset of Douglas С Engelbart, the inventor of the mouse. He shows that the predominance of QWERTY was the result of a long and complex process of socio-technological construction, (partly) determined by changes in users' representations of the personal computing systems under development. Bardini Thierry. Perspectives

5G deployment has started all around the world. However it is not fulfilling the needs of all current and emerging applications, and the ultimate performance limits are far from being reached. This chapter provides some discussions about which topics are left for future research. These perspectives are presented in two stages. The first is to identify certain promises of 5G that are not yet possible and where research and engineering must work hand in hand to come up with effective solutions. The second will look beyond 5G, what could be called 6G, namely, what applications can be envisioned and which could be the key technologies that will enable a seamless interaction between humans and the cyber-physical world

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
