O ensino de ciências e biologia durante a pandemia da Covid-19 : uma revisão
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in Brazil across different sectors. Basic education has undergone a major shift, requiring rapid adaptation of the traditional in-person educational system to a remote (online) teaching model. The aim of this article was to review the impacts of the pandemic on Science and Biology teaching, addressing the challenges of implementing remote teaching, the effects of this transition on teachers and students, and the methodological strategies adopted. Emergency Remote Teaching (ERE) revealed inequalities in access to technology, making it difficult for students without adequate devices or a stable internet connection to learn. In addition, teachers faced the need to quickly adapt to the use of digital platforms and the need to reformulate pedagogical practices and assessment strategies. In Science and Biology teaching, the impossibility of carrying out experimental activities in person led to the adoption of alternative methodologies, such as the use of virtual simulators, video classes, interactive materials, and collaborative tools. These strategies allowed for greater flexibility in learning, but also highlighted the need for teacher training in the use of digital resources. The study concludes that, despite the difficulties, remote teaching has boosted pedagogical innovation and demonstrated the potential of digital technologies in education. However, for these practices to be effectively incorporated into in-person teaching, it is essential to invest in digital inclusion, ongoing teacher training and expanding school infrastructure to ensure more equitable and accessible education.A pandemia da Covid-19 impôs mudanças significativas no Brasil, dentre os diferentes setores. A educação básica sofreu uma enorme mudança, na qual exigiu uma rápida adaptação do tradicional sistema educacional de ensino presencial para o modelo de ensino remoto (online). O objetivo deste artigo foi revisar os impactos da pandemia no ensino de Ciências e Biologia, abordando os desafios da implementação do ensino remoto, os efeitos dessa transição para professores e alunos e as estratégias metodológicas adotadas. O Ensino Remoto Emergencial (ERE) revelou desigualdades de acesso à tecnologia, dificultando a aprendizagem de estudantes sem dispositivos adequados ou conexão estável à internet. Além disso, os professores enfrentaram a necessidade de rápida adaptação ao uso de plataformas digitais, a necessidade de reformulação de práticas pedagógicas e das estratégias avaliativas. No ensino de Ciências e Biologia, a impossibilidade de realizar atividades experimentais presenciais levou à adoção de metodologias alternativas, como o uso de simuladores virtuais, videoaulas, materiais interativos e ferramentas colaborativas. Essas estratégias permitiram maior flexibilidade no aprendizado, mas também evidenciaram a necessidade de capacitação docente para o uso de recursos digitais. O estudo conclui que, apesar das dificuldades, o ensino remoto impulsionou a inovação pedagógica e mostrou o potencial das tecnologias digitais na educação. Libras na educação básica : uma revisão
Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) is a linguistic system with visual-motor characteristics that is performed through the articulation of hand signals. Its representation configures the letters of the alphabet, being essential for communication by people with hearing impairments. In Brazil, the language is officially recognized as a foreign language. The objective of this article was to review the general theme of LIBRAS, considering its historical context and its importance in continuing education, as well as its use in basic education. A research was carried out in the format of a bibliographic review of the literature. From this review it was possible to observe that, due to the increasing number of students with special needs in the classroom, the challenges increase with the lack of teacher training. This fact highlights the need for continuing education for teachers. The lack of these trained professionals makes it essential to use visual strategies, in addition to the support of interpreters, reinforcing the importance of adapted methodologies, mainly in the teaching of Sciences and Biology, where there is the specificity of technical terms to be translated into LIBRAS. Therefore, knowledge and ongoing training are important for the effective inclusion of students with hearing impairments, ensuring access to quality education.A Língua Brasileira de Sinais (LIBRAS) é um sistema linguístico de característica visual-motora realizada por meio da articulação de sinais de mão. Sua representação configura as letras do alfabeto, sendo essencial para a comunicação de pessoas com deficiência auditiva., No Brasil, a língua é reconhecida oficialmente como idioma. O objetivo deste artigo foi revisar a temática geral da LIBRAS, considerando seu contexto histórico e sua importância na formação continuada, bem como, seu uso na educação básica. Foi realizada uma pesquisa no formato de revisão bibliográfica da literatura. A partir dessa revisão foi possível observar que, em virtude do número crescente de alunos com necessidade especiais em sala de aula, os desafios aumentam com a falta de capacitação docente. Esse fato evidencia a necessidade de formação continuada para os professores. A falta desses profissionais capacitados torna essencial o uso de estratégias visuais, além do apoio de intérpretes, reforçando a importância de metodologias adaptadas, principalmente, no ensino de Ciências e Biologia, onde existe a especificidade de termos técnicos a ser traduzido para a LIBRAS. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
