The use of hierarchical modeling in prostate stereotactic body radiation therapy
A work focused on creating a model which simulates patient treatment shift information. This is useful for the purpose of exploring the effects of motion on patient treatment outcomes as well as exploring how current treatments might be changed given new patient information
Self-presentation of Polyxena Lobkovic of Pernštejn on the basis of her correspondence with Zdeněk Vojtěch Popel of Lobkoic
The main topic of this bachelor thesis is the self-presentation of a well known renaissance noblewoman Polyxena Lobkovic of Pernstein (15661642). As the main source of information about her self-presentation the author used the correspondence which she and her husband, the high chancelor of The Czech kingdom Zdeněk Vojtěch Popel of Lobkovic, exchanged. In these texts we can see how this noblewoman shows herself in different social roles (wife, mother, noblewoman, suzerain, ill and suffering woman and worshipper). Author describes her stylization into these roles and compare her self-presentation in this way with other noblewomen of sixteen and seventeen century

Les illustrations à figure de l'Insulinde dans l'Histoire générale des voyages de l'abbé Prévost (1746-1759) : vérité et ressemblance
International audienceIndian Archipelago as illustrated in Abbé Prévost's "Histoire générale des voyages": truth and likeness. The Histoire générale des voyages (1746-1759) knew an oustanding fame until the second half of the 19th century. It's author, Abbé Jean Prévost, was appointed by the Minister of the Navy Maurepas and by the Chancelor d'Aguesseau to oversee the translation and adaptation of this encyclopaedic project, which exerted such an influence on Rousseau, Voltaire, Abbé Raynal or Diderot. The plates, under the direction of C. N. Cochin the Young, largely contributed to the success of the book, even if the study of the illustrations of Indian Archipelago reveal an inaccurate approach, dictated by Prévost himself. Indeed, the level of truth, the richness of invention of the artists, as well as the refined etchings, give the impression of scenes taken on the spot, so that the demands of likeness come second to those of entertainment

დაჰმანი. DAHMAN
https://geohistory.humanities.tsu.ge/ge/procedings/83-shromebi/137-shromebi-daviti.htmlIn “Life of David, King of the Kings”, written in the first half of the 12th century,
Elghazi, the leader of the great army of Seljuk invaders, is described by the chronicler in
Kartlis Tskhovreba as a formidable enemy – “a man dahman-i(i-marker of nominative) and
mraval-ghone (“clever, resourceful”). The word dahmani, used as an epithet by the historian,
does not occur frequently in Old Georgian and the example cited above is practically the
only known one. S. Qaukhchishvili in his edition of Kartlis Tskhovreba (in 1955) explained
the meaning of this word as “cunning, sly”. But M. Brosset, the first editor of Kartlis
Tskhovreba, had already remarked in a footnote in his French translation of the text (in
1849) that the word dahman could be “l’ancien Persan tahman,héros”. Brosset’s conjecture,
though a rather vague one, should be considered plausible. Lexical elements of Iranian origin
are numerous in Old Georgian; however, tah(a)m –“brave, valiant”, is attested in several
languages of the Iranian group and the exact form to which the Georgian dahman (with the
change of t to d) may be affiliated is not quite clear. It should also be added that tahamtan,
the epithet of Rustam in “Shah-Nameh” is found in “Rostomiani” (the Georgian version of
the famous Persian epic) in various forms: taamtan, tamtan, tamtam.
In Matiane Kartlisa (another part of Kartlis Tskhovreba) the chronicler informs the
reader that Klde-Kari, the rocky fortress of the great feudal lord, Liparit, was inaccessible,
because it was defended by his chancelor, Anamor. One group of manuscripts – MQm – adds
to this name a reading which seems to make no sense: kaci da iamani. In other manuscripts
this reading is omitted, neither has it been noticed in publications. One may conjecture that
the correct form used by the author was kaci dahmani,a laudatory term praising the brave
defender. The text in the manuscripts of the Georgian main historical narrative source is
unfortunately very corrupted by ignorant scribes in the process of repeated copying and
dahmani, “brave, courageous” – a word misuderstood by them, should find its rightful place
in the text of Matiane Kartlisa
Rendimiento menor al esperado en Educación Secundaria Obligatoria: comparación de métodos estadísticos para su identificación en España
This study compares the statistical methods employed for detecting underachievement, specifically the simple difference method, the regression method and the Rasch method. A sample of 1182 first- and second-year secondary students from 8 high schools in the province of Alicante participated in the study. The results showed a percentage of underachieving students that varies from 14.55% to 30.37%, depending on the statistical method employed. The Rasch method identified the highest number of underachieving students. Statistically significant differences were found between gender and type of student-underachieving and non-underachieving; however, no significant differences were detected between the course and type of student. This study confirms the importance of knowing the measurement properties of the statistical methods, how they affect the detection of underachieving students, and the main educational implications. The present work was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Award number: EDU2012-32156) and the Vice Chancelor for Research of the University of Alicante (Award number: GRE11-15).
