Managing schools in Myanmar : an investigation into motivational strategies for teachers and challenges of headteachers in schools
The present study is an investigation to motivational strategies that are currently applied to motivate teachers in an under-researched area, Myanmar. A variety of motivational theories have been applied in motivating teachers and the majority of them were originated in the Western context. This study has explored the effectiveness of Herzberg’s motivational theory called “two-factor theory” in the context of Myanmar. With the distinction of motivators and hygiene factors in Herzberg’s theories was applied to the practical experiences of teachers’ motivational factors.
In addition, many studies have given attention to teachers' perspectives on motivation and how teachers have identified what motivates them in their profession. However, this study has investigated the headteachers’ perspectives on how they initiate and maintain teachers' motivation in Myanmar. The time this research study has focused is the recent time of Myanmar when the country is in political and sociological difficulties which have led this study to investigate further the challenges headteachers face in the Myanmar context.
Data were collected from headteachers from schools in private sectors in Myanmar and the findings from the data suggest a range of motivational strategies that can be applied in Myanmar school context and there are variations in applying Herzberg’s motivational theory in Myanmar compared to the Western context

CHO-Bearing Molecules in Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko
In 2004, the Rosetta
spacecraft was sent to comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko
for the first ever long-term investigation of a comet. After its arrival
in 2014, the spacecraft spent more than 2 years in immediate proximity
to the comet. During these 2 years, the ROSINA Double Focusing Mass
Spectrometer (DFMS) onboard Rosetta discovered a coma with an unexpectedly
complex chemical composition that included many oxygenated molecules.
Determining the exact cometary composition is an essential first step
to understanding of the organic rich chemistry in star forming regions
and protoplanetary disks that are ultimately conserved in cometary
ices. In this study, a joint approach of laboratory calibration and
space data analysis was used to perform a detailed identification
and quantification of CHO compounds in the coma of 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
The goal was to derive the CHO compound abundances relative to water
for masses up to 100 u. For this study, the May 2015 postequinox period
represents the best bulk abundances of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
A wide variety of CHO compounds were discovered, and their bulk abundances
were derived. Finally, these results are compared to abundances of
CHO-bearing molecules in other comets, obtained mostly from ground-based
observations and modeling
Secondary Literacy Across the Curriculum
This paper discusses the challenges and possibilities attendant upon successfully implementing literacy across the curriculum initiatives – or ‘school language policies’ as they have come to be known – particularly at the secondary or high school level. It provides a theoretical background to these issues, exploring previous academic discussions of school language policies, and highlights key areas of concern as well as opportunity with respect to school implementation of such policies. As such, it provides a necessary conceptual background to the subsequent papers in this special issue, which focus upon the Secondary Schools’ Literacy Initiative (SSLI) – a New Zealand funded programme that aims to establish cross-curricular language and literacy policies in secondary schools
The construction of Karen Karnak: The multi-author-function
This thesis is situated within the comparatively recent developments of Web 2.0 and the emergence of interactive WikiMedia, and explores the mode of authorship within a Read/Write culture compared to that of a Read/Only tradition. The hypothesis of this study is that the role of the audience has become merged with the author, and as such, represents new functions and attributes, distinct from a more conventional concept of authorship, in which the roles of audience and author are more separate. Read/Write and participatory culture, as defined by this study, is focused on collaboration, and includes the influences of D.I.Y. culture, Open-Source practices and the production of text by multiple authors. Multi-authorship presents a re-thinking of several concepts which support the notion of the individual author, since the focus of multi-authorship is not on attribution and ownership of a finished text, but on the continued malleability of a text. Modes of multi-authorship, demonstrated in the use of the pseudonyms Alan Smithee and Karen Eliot, represent declarative authors whose names signify multiple origins, whilst concurrently indicating a distinct body of work. The function of these names form an important context to this study, since primary research involves the construction of an experimental mode of multi-authorship utilising WikiMedia technology and the interaction of thirty nine participants, who are invited to create a body of work under the collective pseudonym Karen Karnak. The data generated by this experiment is analysed using aspects of Michel Foucault's author-function to identify and determine power structures inherent in the WikiMedia context. The interplay of power structures, including concepts such as identity, ownership and the body of work, affect the resulting mode of authorship and contribute to the construction of Karen Karnak, suggesting further areas of research into the emerging multi-author
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

The final version is available through the publisher’s platform.Chinese hamster ovarian cells (CHO) cells have been extensively utilized for industrial production of biopharmaceutical products, such as monoclonal antibodies, human growth hormones, cytokines, and blood-products. Recent advances in recombinant DNA technology have resulted in the bioengineering of CHO cells that have robust gene amplification systems and can also be adapted to grow in suspension cultures. In parallel, recent advances in techniques and tools for decoding the CHO cell genome, transcriptome, proteome, and glycome have led to new areas of study for better understanding the metabolic pathways in CHO cells with the long-term goal of developing new biologics. This review paper discusses the recent advances in bioengineering strategies in CHO cell lines and the impact of the knowledge gained by CHO cell genomics, transcriptomics, and glycomics on the future of CHO-cell engineering.National Institute of General Medical Scienceshttps://login.libproxy.rpi.edu/login?url=https://doi.org/10.1002/bit.2484
Intracellular trehalose via transporter TRET1 as a method to cryoprotect CHO-K1 cells
Trehalose is a promising natural cryoprotectant, but its cryoprotective effect is limited due to difficulties in transmembrane transport. Thus, expressing the trehalose transporter TRET1 on various mammalian cells may yield more trehalose applications. In this study, we ran comparative cryopreservation experiments between the TRET1-expressing CHO-K1 cells (CHO-TRET1) and the CHO-K1 cells transfected with an empty vector (CHO-vector). The experiments involve freezing under various trehalose concentrations in an extracellular medium. The freeze-thawing viabilities of CHO-TRET1 cells are higher than those of CHO-vector cells for most freezing conditions. This result differs from control experiments with a transmembrane type cryoprotectant, dimethyl sulfoxide (Me2SO), which had similar viabilities in each condition for both cell types. We conclude that the trehalose loaded into the cells with TRET1 significantly improves the cryoprotective effect. The higher viabilities occurred when the extracellular trehalose concentration exceeded 200 mM, with 250-500 mM being optimal, and a cooling rate below 30 K/min, with 5-20 K/min being optimal
The Effect of social media influencers on purchase intention in Cosmetics Products (Ma May Thet Cho, 2020)
This study is aimed to analyze that whether influencers can affect consumers‟ intention to buy the cosmetics products. In this study, the independent variables are the characteristics of social media influencers and the dependent variable is purchase intention of cosmetics products. The required information was acquired by distribution of questionnaire to 413 female consumers through social media in Yangon. Descriptive statistics are used to identify female respondents' backgrounds and other facts. Not only primary data but also secondary data are applied in this research. As descriptive statistics, respondents accept that source credibility, physical attractiveness and product match up have an influence on consumers‟ intention to buy. And physical attractiveness is the lowest influential characteristic on the female consumers‟ intention to purchase. According to the results, this study discovered that source reliability and product match up have major effects on the intention of consumers to buy.
