    Article and Author Level Measurements

    No full text
Article and author level measurements have been discussed in this Unit. Author and researcher identifiers are absolutely essential for searching databases in the WWW because a name like D Singh can harbour a number of names such as Dan Singh, Dhan Singh, Dhyan Singh, Darbara Singh, Daulat Singh, Durlabh Singh and more. The ResearcherID.com, launched by Thomson Reuters, is a web-based global registry of authors and researchers that individualises each and every name. Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) is also a registry that uniquely identifies an author or researcher. Both have been discussed in this Unit. Article Level Metrics (Altmetrics) has been treated in this Unit with the discussion as to how altmetrics can be measured with Altmetric.com and ImpactStory.org. Altmetrics for Online Journals has also been touched. There are a number of academic social networks of which ResearchGate.net, Academia.edu, GetCited.org, etc. have been discussed. Regional journal networks with bibliometric indicators are also in existence. Two networks of this type such as SciELO – Scientific Electronic Library Online, and Redalyc have been dealt with. This Unit discusses in details aspects such as Unique Identifiers for Authors and Researchers; Article Level Metrics (Altmetrics); Academic Social Networks; and Regional Journal Networks with Bibliometric Indicators

The prose written by a representative of the First Wave of Russian Emigration – B.K. Zaytsev – has been investigated in Poland since the 1980s, and at the beginning of the 21st century we know that there are some academic centers and researchers that have dedicated their work to different aspects of the prose written by the author of ’A Writer’s Diary’. This article examines Zaytsev’s essays devoted to the spiritual values of the Russian Orthodox Church. Their essence is described in Zaytsev’s essays about John of Kronstadt or the Optina Hermitage, which is where Russian notables such as N. Gogol, V. Solovyov, K. Leontyev, F. Dostoyevsky or even L. Tolstoy himself came to seek advice. Zaytsev’s essays: ‘The history of the Russian soul’ and ‘One more time about Athos’ are very important as they provide an understanding of the values of the Russian Orthodox Church. In the latter the author contemplates his visit to the monks of Athos reminiscing about their kindness, rectitude and modesty which, according to Zaytsev, ‘calmed his own soul’

“Masha,” a Story by B.K. Zaitsev: Composition and Idea of Order of Estate Life

    No full text
The article comprehends the structure of the story by B.K. Zaitsev’s “Masha” (1915) as a parallel development and non-linear comparison of two storylines dedicated to the love stories of the noblewoman Lisa and her peer, the peasant girl Masha. The author of this article explained the writer’s choice of the story’s title (after the name of the peasant heroine, which marks the semiotic shifts in the “estate culture” of the Silver Age). The article examines in detail the dichotomy of order / disorder, which substantially organizes the artistic world of the work. The research explores the ways of representing the “estate topos” and analyses the sociocultural connection of the heroines with the estate. The Kochki and Radishchevo estates described in the story are also characterized as two varieties of “estate topos” in Russian literature at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. There is a typological similarity between Liza Andreeva in Zaitsev’s story “Masha” and Liza Kalitina in the novel by I.S. Turgenev, Home of the Gentry (1858). It indicates Zaitsev’s reception of Turgenev’s characterological principles in the dual portrayal of the heroines. The article identifies and classifies the details of everyday estate life in Zaitsev’s story and highlights the author’s complex, ambiguous attitude towards characters leading a secluded estate existence

ACTUALIZED HISTORY IN THE WORK OF B.K. ZAYTSEV «Venerable SERGIUS of RADONEZH»

In the article the religious prose of Boris Konstantinovich Zaytsev is analyzed. It is considered in the context of Russian medieval religiouse literature that was deeply rethinked by Russian emigrant authors. The themes of Ortodox culture and spirituality were very important for them because they believed that their mission was to preserve the pre-revolutionary Russian culture. The story «Venerable Sergius of Radonezh» which is written by B.K. Zaytsev is included in the well-known trilogy of the author about the life of the saints. So we can compare St. Sergius with others. The image of the Trinity-Saint Sergius Lavra is presented as a sacred center of Russian Orthodox culture and statehood. Following the words of Epiphanius the Wise and preserving the emotional evenness, Zaytsev lends his interpretation to the key episodes from the life of Sergius and Lavra. Saint Sergius is just an example, favorite by the people themselves – clarity, light transparent and equal. St. Sergius left, in his influence on the world, from the historical framework. Having done his job in life, he remained a figure. We saw Sergius as a thoughtful boy, quietly obedient; a young hermit, and hegumen, and the elder famous Sergius. He is a delicate, modest and selfless man at the same time he is a spiritual leader and a significant public person. The description of the high mission of Sergius is combined with the history of the monastic community of the Trinity-Saint Sergius Lavra. Zaytsev demonstrates that the monastery had a significant influence on the Russian medieval society and played an important role in revival of Russian medieval state. The article focuses on the antithesis as one of the compositional techniques of narration. The asceticism of Sergius is shown in the context of the famous ascetics of both Orthodox and Catholic churches.</jats:p
