No full textIl volume La Storia dell’Estetica. Ricordando Luigi Russo fa seguito
all’omonimo convegno, tenutosi a Palermo, il 27 e 28 giugno 2019,
per ricordare Luigi Russo a un anno dalla sua scomparsa. Rispetto al convegno, che ha ricostruito la figura umana e scientifica di
Russo e la sua luminosa lezione attraverso le memorie di un piccolo
gruppo di amici e allievi che lo hanno accompagnato nelle sue avventure editoriali o che a vario titolo si sono formati sotto l’ala del
suo magistero, il presente volume accoglie il contributo di quanti
hanno voluto rendere omaggio allo studioso che ha gettato le basi
di un potente ripensamento della storia dell’estetica, espresso negli
anni attraverso la traduzione dei classici e la pubblicazione dei saggi
teorici più significativi.
Gli studi qui raccolti hanno pertanto stile e andamento diverso,
disegnando in tal modo la variegata trama di legami scientifici e
affettivi che gli autori hanno intessuto con Luigi Russo nella sua
parabola accademica di professore universitario, coordinatore del
dottorato, presidente del Centro Internazionale Studi di Estetica
e infine fondatore e presidente (poi emerito) della Società Italiana
d’Estetica. Alcuni saggi testimoniano il ruolo decisivo che Luigi
Russo ha avuto per gli studi estetici italiani, stimolando il dibattito
teorico su temi e autori fino ad allora trascurati o poco conosciuti
e dando avvio a un progetto editoriale di rilevanza internazionale;
altri saggi si incentrano sulle chiavi metodologiche da lui avviate e
in particolare sulla proposta disciplinare della Neoestetica, per rilanciare il dibattito verso nuovi orizzonti di ricerca; infine altri scritti
ancora, pur toccando temi non strettamente in linea col magistero
di Russo, esprimono la stima verso lo studioso che, coniugando
innovazione teorica e rigore storiografico, ha segnato una tappa
miliare nella Storia dell’estetica.
Che questi studi siano accolti nel primo numero della nuova serie
di “Aesthetica Preprint” costituisce un omaggio all’opera di Luigi
Russo e una testimonianza della fertilità del suo insegnamento

the domain of an oblique, and not frontal, rhetoric, which is extended from philosophy
to military and political strategy, but also to everyday language. Both the rhetoric ways
have potential meaningful advantages (and disadvantages). The Chinese obliquity, on
which we shall focus, can also make us start to reflect on an analogy (which can be

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
