    Unilateral Ureteral Obstruction Evokes Renal Tubular Apoptosis Via the Enhanced Oxidative Stress and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in the Rat

    Purpose: Oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum ER stress may induce renal apoptosis and contribute to the pathogenesis of the kidney with unilateral ureteral obstruction UUO. Materials and Methods: We induced UUO the female Wistar rats by ligation of the left ureter at the ureteropelvic junction. TheUUOkidney was performed from 4 hr to 7 days course. At the indicated time, we measured the arterial blood pressure and renal blood flow in each rat, renal ROS measurement in vivo by a chemiluminescence analyzer. We performed immunohistochemistry of monocyte/ macrophage ED-1 stain for leukocyte infiltration, 4- hydroxynoneal 4-HNE stain for ROS products, and apoptosis by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nick-end labeling TUNEL and Western blot to analyze ER stress- associated andapoptosis-related proteins expression intheUUOkidney. Results: WefoundthatUUOdecreasedrenal bloodflowand increased renal vascular resistance and renal ROS. UUOdecreased renal manganese superoxide dismutaseMnSOD and catalase protein expression in a time-dependent manner. Increased-4-HNEstain in the renal tubules and ED-1 stain in the renal tubulointerstitial compartment occurred after 4 hr of UUO in the kidney. UUO significantly enhanced ER stress markers likeERstress-response protein 25 and glucose- regulated protein 78 and ER- associated apoptosis proteins, c -JUN NH2-terminal kinase, and caspase 12, in the kidney. Subsequently, UUOenhanced renal pro-apoptotic Bax and caspase 3 expression and decreased anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression, leading to renal tubular apoptosis. Conclusions: Our data suggest that renal tubular apoptosis induced by oxidative stress and ER stress occurred in the UUO kidney

    Iterative Design Methods for Filter Banks and Transceivers

    Multirate filter banks have recently drawn a lot of attention. Filter banks can decompose signals into separate frequency subbands. Separate operations can be applied to those subband signals to obtain very good results. The theory and design methods of uniform filter bank have been well studied and developed. In many applications, however, uniform filter banks do not provide appropriate frequency decomposition, and it is sometimes more desirable to decompose a signal into nonuniform frequency subbands. System which are closely related to filter banks are filter bank transceivers. It is well known that when transmission channels are one tap channels, we can obtain transceivers that achieve ISI-free by interchanging the analysis with the synthesis parts of perfect reconstruction (PR) maximally decimated filter banks, even in the case of nonuniform subbands. For multipath channels, however, these transceivers are no longer ISI-free. In the first part of this thesis, we propose a direct and simple design method suitable for designing any filter bank (uniform or nonuniform) with a set of sampling factors that can achieve PR. Also, we show that we can easily incorporate the method with some constraints, such as linear phase, frequency constraints, paraunitariness, the IFIR structure, and low delay condition. In addition, we generalize some necessary or sufficient conditions developed in the past for the case of integer decimation factors to the case of rational sampling factors. In many applications, some statistical information of the input signals may be known. If the information is incorporated into the design of filter banks, we can often obtain better results such as smaller reconstruction error or better frequency response. We modify the proposed filter bank design method to take into consideration the input statistics as well as the quatization noise effect. In the second part of this thesis, we consider generalized design methods for filter bank transceivers, which can be either uniform or nonuniform, to combat against multipath channels.     [[abstract]]  在臺灣,以白話文、新體詩為主的新文學這領域因時間與空間的隔閡較少、文獻的蒐集與保存研究都是較容易入門,所以吸引許多學者專家、博碩士生投入此一領域研究,且成果豐碩。但相較於新文學的「古典文學」領域,擁有自明鄭以來三百多年的遞嬗歷史;產生了無數的作家,也累積了無數的作品,卻被投以較少的關愛眼神,如果不能多下點功夫及多喚醒有志之士投入參與對臺灣古典文學的研究,讓古典文學的領域獲得與新文學同等的重視,再過十年、廿年,可能因時光的隔閡,耆老的凋零,文獻的湮滅,而愈顯困難。    江擎甫乃前清文秀才江藻如公子,為西螺地區「菼社」創始社員,一生以「忠孝傳家」自持,沉湎於漢學天地,從事漢詩創作,筆耕不斷,其創作時間之長,與創作力之豐富,真可說是另類的「臺灣之光」,功在臺灣文壇、詩壇。另外,更難能可貴的是他除醉心創作外,也具有高度文獻保存意識,多次纂集詩作,雖終未能如願付梓,但已使畢生詩作不致散佚,留下可觀的「第一層位的文學史料」以供後學研究之用。    故本文將以出生西螺的漢詩家─江擎甫,所創作之漢詩為研究對象,首先以其新出土的手稿資料為出發點,並廣徵其他文獻,加以蒐集、整理、分析與研究,期能對其創作之時代背景、中心理念、作品特色及對雲林地區古典文學傳承的貢獻有深入、全面且多元的了解,希望能對這塊急待澆灌的古典園圃略盡一雲林之子的棉薄之力。[[abstract]]  In Taiwan, due to the advantages in time and space, the field in new literature that primarily includes vernacular and new-styled poetry is comparably easy to research the literature collection and preservation. As a result, this field of study has attracted numerous scholars, experts, and graduate students, which led to great contributions. On the other hand, "classical literature" in the new literature that has over 300 years of history since Ming Dynasty during Cheng period had numerous writers who created many pieces, which yet attracting less attention. More efforts are needed to bring ambitious and energetic new members into the study of Taiwanese classical literature so that it would receive the same attention as new literature.     After ten or twenty years, the study of classical literature may be even more difficult due to the barrier of time, withering elders, and deteriorating literature records.    Chiang Ching-fu was the son of early Qin literature scholar Chiang Tsao-ju. Being the founding member of "Yen Poetry Society" in Hsi Lo region, he insisted "pass on faithful and dutiful virtues in family generations" and was obsessed with Han Learning and Han poetry. He had a long history of writing poetry with his immeasurable creativity, which can be called "Glory of Taiwan" in the field of literature and poetry. In addition to his devoted work on writing poetry, he had great concern in preserving literature and attempted to compile his poetry work; although the effort was not successful, his lifetime work was not lost in the tide of time. His considerable "fist-level literature history record", hence, may be used for future studies.    Born in Hsi Lo, Chiang Ching-fu, a poet who devoted in Han Poetry, was the research subject of this paper. Based on the manuscript information newly excavated, the study also collect, organize, analyze, and research the other literature data so that the historical background, central principle, characteristics of work, and contribution to the classical literature heritage in Yun Lin region can be understood in its diverse entirety. It is anticipated that the research results may contribute to the classical literature field that has thirst for cultivation in Yun Lin

    Development of a 3D Parallel Mechanism Robot Arm with Three Vertical-Axial Pneumatic Actuators Combined with a Stereo Vision System

    This study aimed to develop a novel 3D parallel mechanism robot driven by three vertical-axial pneumatic actuators with a stereo vision system for path tracking control. The mechanical system and the control system are the primary novel parts for developing a 3D parallel mechanism robot. In the mechanical system, a 3D parallel mechanism robot contains three serial chains, a fixed base, a movable platform and a pneumatic servo system. The parallel mechanism are designed and analyzed first for realizing a 3D motion in the X-Y-Z coordinate system of the robot’s end-effector. The inverse kinematics and the forward kinematics of the parallel mechanism robot are investigated by using the Denavit-Hartenberg notation (D-H notation) coordinate system. The pneumatic actuators in the three vertical motion axes are modeled. In the control system, the Fourier series-based adaptive sliding-mode controller with H∞ tracking performance is used to design the path tracking controllers of the three vertical servo pneumatic actuators for realizing 3D path tracking control of the end-effector. Three optical linear scales are used to measure the position of the three pneumatic actuators. The 3D position of the end-effector is then calculated from the measuring position of the three pneumatic actuators by means of the kinematics. However, the calculated 3D position of the end-effector cannot consider the manufacturing and assembly tolerance of the joints and the parallel mechanism so that errors between the actual position and the calculated 3D position of the end-effector exist. In order to improve this situation, sensor collaboration is developed in this paper. A stereo vision system is used to collaborate with the three position sensors of the pneumatic actuators. The stereo vision system combining two CCD serves to measure the actual 3D position of the end-effector and calibrate the error between the actual and the calculated 3D position of the end-effector. Furthermore, to verify the feasibility of the proposed parallel mechanism robot driven by three vertical pneumatic servo actuators, a full-scale test rig of the proposed parallel mechanism pneumatic robot is set up. Thus, simulations and experiments for different complex 3D motion profiles of the robot end-effector can be successfully achieved. The desired, the actual and the calculated 3D position of the end-effector can be compared in the complex 3D motion control
