Compact MMIC active inductor
An active inductor implementation suitable for microwave and millimeter wave applications is introduced. The circuit is very simple, compact and can be easily realized in a floating configuration. Simulations, based on Philips smart library ED02AH, show that the component can have a quality factor in excess of 100 at 22 GHz with a current consumption of 5.5 mA @ 2.5V bias. A monolithic implementation in PHEMT technology is reported and discussed
A novel high Q active inductor for millimeter wave applications
The paper introduces an active inductor implementation suitable for microwave and millimeter wave applications. The proposed circuit exhibits a quality factor in excess to 500 at 25 GHz with a current consumption of 1.2 mA @ 1.5V bias. A Monolithic implementation in PHEMT technology is reported and discussed
A 18 GHz MMIC biquad active filter
A high-Q bandpass biquad filter operating at 18GHz is proposed. It is based on an active parallel resonator and it is suitable for MMIC implementation. A prototype has been implement ed using the Philips ED02AH PHEMT foundry process. A quality factor of 120 at 18GHz with a current consumption of 5mA @ 2V bias has been reported
MMIC active floating gyrator design and accurate modelling
This paper introduces a novel floating gyrator circuit. The circuit is based on two differential pair stages used as voltage controlled current sources (VCCS). In order to characterize the component, an accurate passive model is extracted by means of a technique based on symbolic analysis. A prototype has been designed using the Philips ED02AH PHEMT foundry process to validate the proposed mode
A Neural Architecture for the Parameter Extraction of High Frequency Devices
A novel optimization technique for the parameter identification of microwave monolithic integrated circuit is presented. It is based on a hybrid neural network whose learning process convergence allows the validation of the circuit approximated lumped model. The main feature of such a learning process is that no external desired signal is required and the neural network can be considered of the unsupervised type. Furthermore the neural network output represents the lumped circuit parameter estimation
A 5.8-GHz ISM band active 90 degrees hybrid and variable attenuator
The paper introduces an MMIC 90° hybrid based on MIM capacitors and active inductors. The component has been used to implement an integrated variable attenuator operating at 5.8 GHz. Simulations and experimental results are reported to describe the design process and validate the proposed configuration
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
