Tackling Environmental Impact: A New Support Tool for Sustainable Healthcare Waste Management
This study proposes a novel framework integrating Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) and Material Flow Analysis (MFA) within the Deming Cycle framework to address this gap. While valuable tools, ERA and MFA offer limited perspectives on environmental impact when used alone. The framework aims to provide policymakers and decision-makers with insights into developing sustainable waste management strategies. By combining ERA and MFA, this research offers a comprehensive approach to evaluate the environmental impacts of healthcare waste, identify potential risks, and optimize waste management practices. A case study of an Italian private healthcare clinic is conducted to demonstrate the practical application of the proposed framework. Through a SWOT analysis, the benefits and challenges of integrating ERA and MFA in healthcare waste management are revealed, providing guidance for future research and implementation efforts. © 2025 The Author(s). The study of relationship in a hierarchical structure of EU sustainable development indicators
Until recently, the sustainable development indicators published by Eurostat were divided into 10 thematic areas. Currently apart of this division, the new indicators system divided into 17 objectives of the Sustainable Development Strategy according The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has been published. The analyses presented in this paper are concentrated on the previous system of division of sustainable development indicators. The indicators in this database are divided into 3 levels reflecting their hierarchy: headline, operational and explanatory level of indicators. The purpose of the paper is a comparative analysis of relationship between the results achieved by individual EU Member States based on hierarchical structure of indicators published by Eurostat. Such a way of analysing sustainable development indicators has not been yet practiced in the literature in this field. The value added of the paper to the current state of knowledge in this field is the opportunity not only to determine, for example, the position occupied by individual Member States within individual areas of sustainable development monitored by Eurostat, but also to analyse interrelationships occurring within particular levels of monitoring of the Sustainable Development Strategy. According to the results of the research, differences in the ranking of EU Member States on the consecutive levels of monitoring the sustainable development strategy for different areas can be observed. In line with the hierarchical method of presenting the sustainable development indicators adopted by Eurostat, state rankings were prepared for each selected indicators aggregation level. For this purpose, a taxonomic measure of development based on Weber median vector was used. The results obtained clearly present the relatively low level of correlation between the results obtained by individual EU Member States on the subsequent levels of monitoring the implementation of EU strategy. This way of hierarchical analysis can be also used in the analysis based on indicators elaborated for The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
Zastosowanie taksonomii wielokryterialnej do analizy porównawczej struktur zrównoważonego rozwoju
One of the most common errors in research on sustainable development is to analyse a set of features describing this development within one set of diagnostic features. Such an approach does not allow for examining the real changes taking place within each area of sustainable development. These changes may have a completely different direction in the case of indicators describing, for example, the economic area or the environmental area of sustainable development. The solution is to consider the indicators separately for each area and then compare the results obtained. In this work, multi‑criteria taxonomy was used for this purpose. The study used indicators published by Eurostat to monitor progress in implementing the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 from 2008 and 2016. The results presented in the paper confirmed the considerable diversity of the EU countries in each area of sustainable development and their large heterogeneity.

Pociąg do życia Pilchowego [rec. Katarzyna Kubisiowska: Pilch w sensie ścisłym. Kraków: Wydawnictwo Znak, 2016, ss. 480.]
The biography became a controversial book before it even began to appear in bookshops. The review, thus, discusses not only its content, composition and inconsistencies but also potential reasons for the negative response of the protagonist and some of his family. As it turns out, Katarzyna Kubisiowska’s book arouses controversies for several reasons: firstly, it seems to be written mainly to meet the market needs, and secondly, it concerns a person who is close to the author. Above all, however, the book shows the protagonist in a bed light without giving him an opportunity to speak for himself, which is even more poignant in the case of a writer who hides behind the masks of literature. The biography became a controversial book before it even began to appear in bookshops. THE INFLUENCE OF CLUSTERS ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CLUSTER POLICY IN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND JAPAN
The development of clusters seems to be a natural consequence of the observed trends in the global economy. The increased interest in the creation and development of clusters can also be seen in most of the countries of the European Union, however, the experience of EU countries in this field is different. In addition to strong clusters with a long tradition, new clusters are created with much lower potential. Clusters compatible with the most important EU documents are to play the role of organizations supporting regional development and ensuring the growth of innovation of the European Union in the new programming period. The Japanese economy is based on the important role of clusters in this area, which along with the US and the European Union is among the largest economies in the world. The experience of Japan in this area is much longer. A lot of still functioning clusters were created in this country in the XVII and XVIII centuries. The aim of this study is a comparative analysis of the socio-economic situation of the European Union and Japan, with special emphasis on the role that clusters play in those economies. The result of the analysis is to identify the factors that allow for the effective operation of enterprises within created cluster structures. The analysis of Japan's experience in this area is a valuable source of information for policy guidelines developed to support clusters in the EU
Staging Joyce's prose : Zenon Fajfer and Katarzyna Bazarnik’s "Finnegans make"
W artykule przedstawiono analizę wystawianej w latach 90. sztuki Finnegans Make,
będącej adaptacją prozy Joyce’a, skomponowaną i wyreżyserowaną przez Zenona Fajfera i Katarzynę
Bazarnik w ramach działalności Stowarzyszenia Teatralnego Zenkasi. Artykuł ukazuje,
w jaki sposób użycie awangardowych strategii kompozycyjnych i gier językowych przyczyniło
angażowania widzów i wykorzystanie przestrzeni teatru. Ponadto omówiono, w jaki sposób
Fajfer i Bazarnik wykorzystują przestrzeń książki i układ graficzny strony, by przygotowana
już po wystawieniu i wydrukowana w woluminie partytura mogła jak najlepiej oddać to, co
wydarzyło się na scenie. The purpose of the paper is to examine Finnegans Make, Zenkasi Theatre Company’s
adaptation of Joyce’s prose devised and directed by Zenon Fajfer and Katarzyna Bazarnik,
staged in the 1990s. It aims to demonstrate how by employing avant-garde compositional ideas
and language games, they translate the structural and linguistic complexity characteristic of the
Irish author to the idiom of the stage. demonstrate the thematic coherence of Joyce’s work, accompanied
by compositional and. It analyses in detail the play’s circular structure that draws on
excerpts from Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist, Ulysses and Finnegans Wake. It also discusses
how Fajfer and Bazarnik engage the audience and explore the theatre space. Finally, it examines
how they use the space of the book and typographical devices to translate the live performance
into a spatialised score of the play
