ASSESSMENT ON VARIATION AND SEGREGATION IN F2 POPULATION OF HOT PEPPER (Capsicum annuum) CHAW SU
A good assessment on the extent of variation of qualitative and quantitative traits in hot pepper is highly important to select desirable traits for varietal improvement. The experiment was carried out to investigate the extent of variations in quantitative traits and to test the segregation pattern for some qualitative traits of selected F2 hot pepper. The seeds were collected from 23 F1 hot pepper plants grown at Yezin Agricultural University Farm. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block design (RCBD) with two replications. The traits like leaf length, leaf width, filament length, corolla length, fruit width, thousand seed weight and number of seeds per pod showed important contributors towards genetic variation among the genotypes. No significant difference observed in anther length, fruit length, fruit weight, total fruit weight and fruit pedicel length indicated uniformity in some yield contributing traits in F2 generation. Study on variability highlighted that phenotypic component was the major contributor to total variance for all traits studied. Low and medium heritability values and higher phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) suggested that these above phenotypic traits interacted with the environment rather than genetic variation. Segregation pattern of 21 qualitative traits indicated similar characters for angled stem, erect flower, white corolla and corolla spot, rotate corolla, white filament, elongate fruit, obtuseness of fruit at pedicel attachment and absent neck at base of fruit on all genotypes. Segregation distortion observed in some traits: nodal anthocyanin, branching habit, leaf shape, mature fruit color suggested that they are polygenic traits. Calyx margin and fruit bearing characters followed to the Mendelian ratio (3:1) highlighting the monogenic recessive nature of the gene. Anther color expressed independent assortment with complete dominance (9:3:3:1). Plant growth habit, stigma exsertion, fruit surface, leaf color and male sterility resulted as modified F2 dihybrid ratios indicating the involvement of two genes controlling each trait. From the breeding point of view, variation in quantitative traits, on which environmental factors have a profound effect, may hinder the progress in selection for progeny containing favorable genes. However, variation in qualitative traits, as a result of segregation in F2 progeny, might be useful for selection of desirable quality in next generation
A Study of the Information Resource Management in Some Myanmar Private Enterprises (Chaw Su Lwin, 1997)
Vocabulary A Basic Element of Language Learning
The importance of developing the vocabulary learning skill is the most essential skill for foreign language learners. Language is sequential - speech is a sequence of sounds whereas writing is a sequence of symbols. To produce a good piece of writing, learners need to enrich their vocabularies. Vocabulary knowledge is also one component of language skills such as reading and speaking. Since the meanings of new words are emphasized frequently, vocabulary learning plays a crucial role in foreign language learning. Teaching and learning vocabulary in context also helps learners for inferring the meaning of new words. Vocabulary development is concerned with all four language skills and it can be treated as a link between reading and writing. Innovative Preformance of Myanmar Private Banks Through Key Success Factors of Knowledge Management (Chaw Su Aung, 2020)
This study attempts to analyze the knowledge management practices of the private banks in Myanmar aiming to explore the key success factors affecting knowledge management in private banks and also the relationship with innovative performance of their private banks. The study used primary data and secondary data: primary data were collected by interviewing with the managers of seven selected private banks in Myanmar through the use of the structured questionnaire. The sample respondents include 200 managers from the selected private banks. The study applied the descriptive statistics and multiple regression method to analyze the variables considered in the study. The key success factors include information technology (measured with the use of information technology), culture (measured with collaboration, trust, learning, incentives and rewards) and leadership (measured with transformational leader and transactional leader) which are assumed as independent factors affecting the knowledge management practices of the banks. Knowledge management practices in this study include knowledge acquisition, knowledge conversion, knowledge sharing, knowledge application and knowledge protection. The banks’ innovation is identified by the three types of innovation which are product innovation, process innovation and market innovation. Product innovation is measured by the new banking products and services created by the banks. Process innovation is determined by the pursuit of the smooth operating procedures for banking transactions. For identifying market innovation, the use of new marketing activities is considered in the study analysis. Based on these findings, regarding key success factors, the study observed that the use of information technology (IT) followed by paying incentive and rewards, working with the teams, providing training for continuous learning are significantly influencing on realistic implementation of knowledge management practices. The study suggested that banking organizations need to pay adequate attention to have such a strong positive organizational culture encouraging the continuous pursuit of knowledge management practices among employees. Furthermore, the study found that practicing knowledge management in the banking sector positively and significantly supports to result the attractive performance of private banks in terms of banks’ innovative product, process and market. Therefore, it can be concluded that knowledge management in particular, knowledge acquisition, knowledge conversion, knowledge sharing and knowledge application are essential mechanisms, through which banks perform more creative and innovative banking products and services satisfying the various needs of customers in the changing environment of the country
Benefits and Constraints Associated with Horticultural Farming In Yangon Region ( A Case Study of Myaung Takar and Nhainnse Myaine Villages in Hmawbi Township) (Chaw Su Win, 2025)
This study examines the benefits and constraints associated with horticultural
farming in, Yangon Region. As horticulture plays a vital role in enhancing rural
livelihoods and food security, understanding its contributions and limitations is critical
for sustainable agricultural development. The primary objectives are to assess the
economic, nutritional, environmental, and social benefits of horticultural practices and
to identify the key constraints that limit productivity and adoption. A mixed-methods
approach was employed, involving structured questionnaires with 87 farmers across
two villages, supported by interviews and field observations. Data were analyzed using
descriptive statistics and reliability analysis. Findings reveal that horticulture offers
significant income, dietary diversity, and community benefits. However, farmers face
challenges including climate variability, limited technical knowledge, labor shortages,
and poor market access. The study suggests the need for policy support, improved
infrastructure, and capacity-building to enhance the resilience and profitability of
horticultural farming in the region
A Study of Elephant Foot Yam Cultivation and Perception towards Sustainable Agriculture Practices in Mindat Township. (Chaw Su Su Aye, 2024)
This study focuses on sustainability agriculture practices of Elephant Foot Yam or
Wa-U in Mindat Township in Chin State. The research aims to assess the present state of
the Elephant Foot Yam or Wa-U industry in Midat Township and examine the key elements
that impact the sustainable agricultural practices of farmers engaged in cultivating Elephant
Foot Yam or Wa-U in the same area. This review employs a descriptive methodology. This
work utilizes both primary and secondary data. The collection of main data involves
conducting field research and interviews with 175 Wa-U producers in Mindat Township
using the basic random sample technique. A structured questionnaire using a 5-point Likert
scale is used to evaluate the perspectives of Wa-U producers about their comprehension of
agricultural methods, access to financing, training of farmers, obstacles, and sustainable
agricultural practices. The study also analyzes the sustainable agriculture practices of Wa
U growers. It is found that Wa-U growers have some knowledge about sustainable farming.
On the other hand, there are some factors that hinder them to practice sustainable agriculture
practices. Wa-U growers have a low level of credit access at their region and some kinds

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
