Bibliography of Publications by Dr. David Chappell, 1989-2018
After earning his BA in 1968 from Syracuse University (and Hamilton College) in European and African History, David Chappell taught in the Peace Corps for two years in the Ivory Coast, West Africa. He then earned his MA in African History from Stanford University in 1971, and traveled in Asia, teaching history in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He also taught history in secondary schools in the mainland US and on Maui. In 1991, He earned his Ph.D. in Pacific history at the University of Hawaii-Manoa and from that point taught in that field at the University of Hawaii, as well as in the Marshall Islands, American Sāmoa and New Caledonia. He also gave lectures at the University of French Polynesia, and at Pacific History Association conferences in New Zealand, Australia, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Kiribati and Guam. His early research was on Pacific Islanders who worked and traveled on foreign ships, indigenous diasporas and decolonization struggles, but more recently he have worked on the Francophone Pacific. His second book, The Kanak Awakening: The Rise of Nationalism in New Caledonia, was published by UH Press (Pacific Islands Monograph Series, No. 27, 2013) and has also been translated into French. Fred Chappell, 15th Annual ODU Literary Festival
Fred Chappell has written six novels, including Dagon, which won the Best Foreign Novel Prize form the French Academy, I Am One of You Forever, and Brighten the Corner Where You Are, which has been optioned by a Hollywood producer. He has also published ten books of poetry, including Midquest, which won the Bollingen Prize in Poetry from Yale University, and which provides the poems for the Literary Arts Festival\u27s staged reading. His newest book is a collection of short stories titled More Shapes Than One. Mr. Chappell teaches at the University of North Carolina

Oral history interview with Donnie Chappell
Donald Lee Chappell was born in 1929 in Van Nuys, California. His mother was from Stratford, Oklahoma, and shortly after Donnie was born they moved back to Oklahoma. They settled on a family farm near Durham, in Roger Mills County, where Donnie still resides today. Having lived in Roger Mills County for most of life, Donnie reflects on his years growing up, the community and changes that have occurred throughout the county over the years
Control strategies for a multiple degree of freedom prosthetic hand
Some of the traditional methods used to control a conventional prosthetic device are described alongside the current state of new control techniques and how they may progress. The review includes implantable myoelectric sensors and describes the potential of connecting directly to the peripheral nervous system. Control methods are then deduced for each technique, where the application is a six degrees of freedom hand having integral slip, force and temperature sensors
