Delayed Tear Clearance in Contact Lens Associated Papillary Conjunctivitis
Purpose. To study the tear film clearance in contact lens associated papillary conjunctivitis patients.Methods. Fifty- eight daily-wear soft contact lens wearers completed a questionnaire regarding a survey of their contact lens usage and subjective symptoms. They were grouped according to the size of conjunctival papillae, namely PC1 with no papillae, PC2 with papillae of less than 0.3 mm, and PC3 with papillae of 0.3-1.0 mm in diameter. Tear film breakup time and fluorescein clearance tests were performed.Results. There was a median of 1, 2, and 3 subjective symptoms in PC1 , PC2, and PC3 groups respectively (p < 0.001). Patients with larger papillae on their upper tarsus had more subjective symptoms such as burning sensation, discharge, limbal injection, foreign body sensation and dryness sensation (p = 0.018, 0.001, 0.004, 0.005, and 0.036 respectively). They also had shorter tear film breakup time (p = 0.05), delayed tear clearance (p = 0.002) and more corneal neovascularization (p < 0.001). Patients having delayed tear clearance test tended to have more subjective symptoms (p = 0.004) and larger papillae on upper tarsus (p = 0 .002). However, neither the way the patients cleaned their contact lenses nor their enzyme cleaning frequency associated with the tear fluorescein clearance (p = 0.528 and 0.394, respectively). Meibomian gland dysfunction and corneal neovascularization did not correlate with the delayed tear clearance either (p = 0.111 and 0.717, respectively).Conclusions. Tear clearance in contact lens associated papillary conjunctivitis patients was delayed. We proposed that delayed tear clearance might increase the protein and inflammatory mediator concentrations in the tear film and contribute to the pathogenesis or aggravate the severity of contact lens associated papillary conjunctivitis
Brain Segmentation ? A Case study of Biomedical Cloud Computing for Education and Research
Medical imaging is widely adopted in Hospitals and medical institutes, and new ways to improve existing medical imaging services are regularly exploited. This paper describes the adoption of Cloud Computing is useful for medical education and research, and describes the methodology, results and lesson learned. A working Bioinformatics Cloud platform can demonstrate computation and visualisation of brain imaging. The aim is to study segmentation of brains, which divides the brain into ten major regions. The Cloud platform has these two functions: (i) it can highlight each region for ten different segments; and (ii) it can adjust intensity of segmentation to allow basic study of brain medicine. Two types of benefits are reported as follows. Firstly, all the medical student participants are reported to have 20% improvement in their learning satisfaction. Secondly, 100% of volunteer participants are reported to have positive learning experience

An 18-year-old Rohingya woman, who was pregnant at 21 weeks, was admitted with a complaint of epigastric pain and nausea for two days. She is a Burmese refugee who has been in Malaysia for two years. She had previously eaten undercooked meat. Systematic examination was unremarkable. She was given intravenous fluids and symptomatic treatment, which included antacids and anti-emetics. She had one bout of vomiting in the ward and expelled a roundworm from her mouth. The worm was approximately 20 cm in length, and 5 mm in diameter, and it appeared elongated, cylindrical, and tapered at both ends (Figure 1). The worm was identified as an adult female Ascaris lumbricoides. Microscopic examination of the stool sample revealed the presence of fertilized eggs that are oval-shaped and surrounded by thick mammillated outer shell (Figure 2). She did not have intestinal obstruction, biliary ascariasis, or peripheral eosinophilia. She was given a single dose of albendazole 400 mg and was advised on proper food hygiene and sanitation

Abstract
Since the 19th century, Christian brings some degree of influence on modern Chinese literature. Chinese literati subsumed the terms and spirit of Christianity in their works. They achieved the development of Chinese Christian literature.
Chang Show-Foong is one of Modern Chinese literature writers, whose literature works are outstanding in weight and depth. Her text is full of Christian faith dimension, attempting to manifest the thought of Christian. In the context of Chinese literature, her writings of Jesus Christ is her interpretation of the Christian faith. It is her experience as a Christian in person. This thesis uses Chang Show-Foong's literature as a subject of study. Probing into the depth and breadth of the Christian faith, I expound and explore her literary and artistic creation, and finds that her writings of Christ are unique and ground-breaking, digging out the apocalypse and artistry on literature. Investigating the Cloud Computing Business Framework - modelling and benchmarking of financial assets and job submissions in clouds
Literature identifies three business challenges in clouds: (i) little linkage between qualitative and quantitative cloud business frameworks in the same domain; (ii) few structured frameworks to measure cloud business performance and (iii) application portability from desktops to clouds, and later on between clouds offered by different vendors. To address these three problems, we propose the Cloud Computing Business Framework (CCBF), which contains Financial Cloud Framework (FCF), Middleware Framework (MF) and the other two frameworks. FCF and MF are to deal with portability issue. In FCF, we select Monte Carlo Methods (MCM) for pricing and Black Scholes Model (BSM) for risk analysis. In MF, we select OMII-UK's GridSAM 2.3 to demonstrate job submission in clouds, and compare benchmarking results with our MCM and BSM models. Our objective is to demonstrate portability, speed, accuracy and reliability of applications in the clouds, and present how modelling, simulation and benchmarking fit into FCF and MF. Experiments are performed in public and private clouds, where portability, speed, accuracy and reliability from desktop to clouds are successfully demonstrated. Despite X.509 security can be demonstrated, the preferred security is single sign-on and will be dealt with later
An Introductory Approach to Risk Visualization as a Service
This paper introduces the Risk Visualization as a Service (RVaaS) and presents the motivation, rationale, methodology, Cloud APIs used, operations and examples of using RVaaS. Risks can be calculated within seconds and presented in the form of Visualization to ensure that unexploited areas are ex-posed. RVaaS operates in two phases. The first phase includes the risk modeling in Black Scholes Model (BSM), creating 3D Visualization and Analysis. The second phase consists of calculating key derivatives such as Delta and Theta for financial modeling. Risks presented in visualization allow the potential investors and stakeholders to keep track of the status of risk with regard to time, prices and volatility. Our approach can improve accuracy and performance. Results in experiments show that RVaaS can perform up to 500,000 simulations and complete all simulations within 24 seconds for time steps of up to 50. We also introduce financial stock market analysis (FSMA) that can fully blend with RVaaS and demonstrate two examples that can help investors make better decision based on the pricing and market volatility information. RVaaS provides a structured way to deploy low cost, high quality risk assessment and support real-time calculations
