    No full text
In this contribution, Giulia Zanon investigates the use of detail as a scholarly tool in Warburg’s corpus. In the first phase of an ongoing study, the author makes a recognition of the cases in which the detail of an image in the Atlas is enlarged and juxtaposed to its original, highlighting the different visual strategies exploited by the scholar to develop and expose his research themes

Some Remarks on Bruce Ackerman's "Revolutionary Constitutionalism : Charismatic Leadership And The Rule Of Law"

    No full text
The contribution aoffers a short analysis of Bruce Ackerman's book "Revolutionary Constitutionalism: Charismatic Leadership and the Rule of Law". In particular the Author focuses on two key issues of Ackerman's analysis. The first relevant aspect is the role played by the judiciary, especially by constitutional and supreme Courts, in the revolutionary dynamic. The second one is the cultural diagnosis of the EU crisis and of its legitimacy, read in the light of the different constitutional paths (elite-driven, revolutionary and establishmentarian) taken by EU Member States

New petrographic, geochemistry and mineral chemistry data from acid and basic dyke swarms, associated to the Pelotas Batholith in the Piratini, Pinheiro Machado regions, within the Rio Grande do Sul state are presented in this work. The obtained data suggest that the two types of dykes were generated by different magmatic sources and processes, within an extensional setting that was linked to the Pelotas Batholith. These data suggest also an affinity between the acid dykes and granites from the Dom Feliciano Suite. The basic dykes show different compositions. Field and petrographic evidences shown the existence of magma mixing, suggesting contemporaneity with the acid magmatism. Biotite is the mafic mineral of the acid rocks, whereas pyroxene and calcic plagioclase are the minerals of the basic rocks and together suggest that the magmatism was formed within different thermodynamic and crustal level situations. Field and structural characteristic of the host granitoids show solid-state superimposed deformations within ductile and ruptil regimes, a situation that was not seen in the dykes. Some dykes shown textures mirmekite and graphic suggesting the presence of residual liquid in contact with already crystallized higher temperature minerals. Geochemical data shown that the Piratini dikes are ryholites, trachites, and basalts, whereas of the Pinheiro Machado are ryholites, trachyandesites, dacites, lathites and basalts. Mg# suggest that Piratini acid dikes are more evolved than the other rocks. Ryholites and trachites from Piratini have alkaline to transitional characteristics. Ryholites, dacites, lathites and trachyandesites from Pinheiro Machado are high-k calc-alkaline to moderately alkaline, with the basaltic types showing calc-alkaline nature. The acid dykes of both regions up present one group of rocks relatively homogeneous with relation the rare earth element (REE) values, showing values more pronounced in light RRE, largely negative Eu anomalies and values low in heavy REE, suggesting fractionation of alkaline feldspar. Multielementary diagrams of the studied rocks shown similar pattern between the acid dykes and granites, with negative anomalies in Ba, Sr, Eu, Ti, Sc and Ni, and enrichement in relation to the chondrite in K, Rb, Zr, Y and Tb, whereas the basic dykes pattern shown positive anomalies in Ba, Ti, Sr, Eu and La, being lightly enriched in K, Nd and Zr. Positive Eu anomalies may be interpreted by presence of amphibole. The probable correlation of acid dykes with newer granitic suites of the Pelotas Batholith suggests magmatism with tectonic characteristics late and post-collisionals the Brasiliano Cycle

The essay examines the so-called Nordic production of the Victorian intellectual William Morris. After presenting Morris's approach to Nordic subjects and his marked interest in sagas, the author focuses on the representation of the Germanic gods in Morris's works. The result is a reading of the humanisation of the divinities, which are brought closer to human reality, in their suffering but also in their resistance to the vicissitudes of life with that heroic spirit which so fascinated Morris even in the characters of the Nordic sagas. Translation extracts from The Lovers of Gudrun are also offered

    No full text
In this article, seeks to answer the following questions: How do the theses of the Professional Master’s Program in Mathematics in the National Network (PROFMAT) from 2016 to 2020 deal, in basic education, with the solving of combinatorial analysis problems mediated by digital technologies? What contributions can a systematic review of these theses offer to research on this topic in Brazil and to classroom practices? A series of analyzes resulting from a systematic bibliographic review (Botelho, Cunha & Macedo, 2011; Romanowski & Ens, 2006) of PROFMAT theses produced in the period from 2016 to 2020 is presented. Gravina and Santarosa (1998), Onuchic (1999), Alevatto (2005) and Zanon (2019) were used to study nine productions, in which the understanding of combinatorial analysis and problem solving, and the presence of digital technologies were analyzed. Furthermore, the methodological aspects of the investigations and the products that each author developed were investigated. The results of the analyzes allowed to affirm the existence of a conflict in the understanding of what would be the problem solving, as well as the presence of technologies as a support for the application of the elaborated products.

Fabula rasa: Gamifying a storytelling platform to enhance proactive science communication from TU Delft researchers

    No full text
This research project proposes a theoretical gamified design of a storytelling platform to engage TU Delft researchers into proactive submission of story ideas to co-create online storytelling for wide audiences. While universities have focused on improving communication with the general public in the past decades, researchers may still find barriers to engage in public communication of science. One of these barriers is proactive media contact, as the scientific community may perceive it as outside of the researchers’ role and subject the “transgressor” to informal peer-based sanctions. By assessing a sample of TU Delft researchers’ attitude towards an online TU Delft non-profit storytelling platform for internal and external communication similar to the target one, response efficacy proved to be the primary variable to motivate TU Delft researchers to engage in co-creation of online storytelling. The findings further confirm existing theories that younger and more intrinsically motivated researchers seem more willing to engage in online storytelling compared to older and more extrinsically motivated peers. The study translated these guidelines into a gamified design based on graph force models that challenge researchers to create tags related to their story, and form connections with peers within the TU Delft. To access these functionalities, TU Delft researchers must register to the platform by submitting a story idea, e.g. related to their researcher or field of study, and be willing to co-create online storytelling if their story is chosen. The design targets different groups of users by balancing the experience through the Octalysis framework, and implementing social points, competitions among faculties and badges. According to an evaluation with the case owner and a gamification expert of the first iteration of the design, rewarding the submission of stories with a network, seem effective in engaging TU Delft researchers to submit story ideas proactively and enhance collaboration and innovation with the TU Delft.Applied Sciences | Science Communicatio
