Construction of decision criteria for family – run businesses

    No full text
This paper focuses on a decision system for family – run businesses. The aim is to capture the leadership instinct and experience in order to guarantee a human resource management instrument for the next entrepreneurial generations. The design of a decision system considers the need of assembling work teams for business orders via the following steps. First, a KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes) model is analysed for the description of workers and their abilities for each work order. Then, an Apriori algorithm studies the logic by which the leadership makes the work teams. Finally, the information fusion, due to both KSA and Apriori algorithm, allows the reconstruction of leadership decisions with a high accuracy degree. A real case of family – run business is useful to test the approach, showing that the entrepreneurial success is not always due to the best work teams

    No full text
The paper analyzes the level of Information Technology (IT) and the quality of IT Controls (ITC) in outsourcing. We collected data through a questionnaire sent to a sample of Italian listed companies and performed robustness tests. Our results show that in Italy: 1) IT in outsourcing is widespread; 2) ITC in outsourcing complies with USA frameworks. ITC mainly follow the Statement of Auditing Standard No. 70 (SAS 70) Report Types 1 and 2. Concerns about quality are related to the absence of a direct evaluation in outsourcer location and the absence of audit provisions

In particular, the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is one of the most studied ICT systems in the healthcare management literature. Using the Zaharia et al. model, in this study we investigate the implementation of a core element of the EMR, in an university hospital, the deployment of which is expected to spur internal efficiency and pave the way for the development of the principles in other departments and/or hospitals. It then analyses the organizational impacts of EMRs on the healthcare provider’s structure
