Calculation of three-dimensional compressible laminar and turbulent boundary layers. Calculation of three-dimensional compressible boundary layers on arbitrary wings
A very general method for calculating compressible three-dimensional laminar and turbulent boundary layers on arbitrary wings is described. The method utilizes a nonorthogonal coordinate system for the boundary-layer calculations and includes a geometry package that represents the wing analytically. In the calculations all the geometric parameters of the coordinate system are accounted for. The Reynolds shear-stress terms are modeled by an eddy-viscosity formulation developed by Cebeci. The governing equations are solved by a very efficient two-point finite-difference method used earlier by Keller and Cebeci for two-dimensional flows and later by Cebeci for three-dimensional flows
This thesis explores the tangible and intangiblevalues and significance of modernperiod cemeteries and their conservation asheritage places, focusing on Cebeci (Asri) Cemetery in Ankara, Türkiye.Although cemeteries are dynamic places that change together with the city andsociety, they are generally perceived as fixed, static parts of the built-upenvironment or merely as areas for burial. Although the perception ofcemeteries varies across cultural contexts, the general view of cemeteries assymbols of death leads to their being perceived as negative and dark places. Inaddition, because they belong to the recent past, modern period cemeteries arenot sufficiently recognized as heritage sites, leading to their neglect. Allthese put modern period cemeteries at risk of disappearing. In this context, the thesis evaluates the Cebeci (Asri) Cemetery holistically across differentaspects, from its urban context to its architectural and artistic qualities, from its cultural landscape value to its place in social memory. As part of the planning of Ankara as a modernnew capital after 1923, the Cebeci (Asri) Cemetery is a critical component ofAnkara's Republican history. It is designed with a modern approach, featuring agrid plan, zoning suitable for a multifaith structure, and modernistarchitectural elements. However, the area is currently threatened by issues atdifferent scales, such as unplanned and changing urbanization, structural andecological neglect, and the loss of its unique characteristics. Aiming to fillthe gap in the literature on the recognition and conservation of moderncemeteries as heritage in Türkiye, this study documents the site's currentstate through fieldwork and proposes management and conservation strategies andactions for the cemetery in line with universal conservation principles. Inconclusion, the thesis advocates integrating the Cebeci (Asri) Cemetery withinthe framework of modern heritage and contributes to the conservation literatureby defining the necessary actions to ensure the site's sustainability.</p

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Nutritional label use among patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus
Background and Aims: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the nutritional label use of individuals with type 1 DM. Material and Method: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in November 2017 - June 2018. Diabetic individuals were reached through hospitals and social networks. The study was conducted with 105 (64 female, 41 male) individuals with type 1 DM living in Istanbul. A questionnaire about sociodemographic characteristics, biochemical parameters, medical treatment, food label reading status, food label reading reasons were applied in the study. Data were analyzed using SPSS V 16.0 program. Results: 85.7% of the participants read the food label. No significant difference was found when age group and nutritional label reading status were examined (p > 0.05). Besides, information was given to 67.6% of the participants about reading the nutritional label. A significant association was found between nutritional label reading knowledge and carbohydrate counting application and stages (P=0.0001). However, there was no significant difference between biochemical parameters and reading label status (p>0.05). Conclusions: Nutritional label reading should be mentioned more in the medical nutrition therapy and diabetes education. © 2021 The Authors. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
