The proposals put forth start from the assumption of implementing Advanced Air Mobility systems in less densely populated areas. The contribution explores the image of AAM in the collective imagination. It summarizes the characteristics of AAM implementation in the National Airport Plan. It explores the feasibility of a pervasive implementation of AAM as a suitable tool to reduce travel times in less infrastructure-rich areas. It suggests a network schema of AAM that could contribute to the construction of an integrated urban region by breaking down barriers to access to interior areas
The article reports on an applied experience that emerges as a good practice in the construction of decision-making processes capable of aggregating and integrating different actions within strategic horizons formulated on a territorial basis. The opportunity arises from the Government's decision to develop, through the commissioner's intervention, a unitary and comprehensive plan for adapting the entire itinerary between Rome and Ascoli Piceno. The Commissioner, within his mandate, decided to articulate his action by organizing it on two levels: a) a strategic dimension and b) an operational dimension with the definition of 54 interventions. A multidisciplinary study was developed as a framework for the plan.
The article summarizes the scientific horizon, the method, the field of investigation, the tools and data, and the organization of the study. The contribution is completed through the report on the state of implementation of the plan and the related further expected outcomes
The Sars-CoV-2 pandemic has imposed on each of us a long and difficult experience. In this crisis, both elements of criticality and change emerged: elements which had already been underway for some time. The imposition of smart working (in both public and private context) and the physical displacement restrictions (which restrained accessibility to central areas) have promptly led to the demand relocation for public services (nearby green spaces) and private commercial services.
The critical issues of a settlement model that has always remained predominantly centripetal have become evident. The instances of widespread urban quality, of better quality of life, of ecosystemic rebalancing of the settlement system have become, for few moment, pressing and shared.
In short time, even if not promptly followed by market trends, the level of urban rent value (in its pricing effects in shop and home rents) appeared to be widely excessive.
In metropolitan areas, it was made clear that through a diversified planning of timetable and through the diversification of flows, it would be easy to restore existing mobility infrastructures, with only management measures, to excellent service levels.
In this new perspective it is interesting, after fifteen years, to deepen the methods and the tools of the experience of urban regeneration, reported by many (Ispra; National Council of Architects) as "best practice", of "Europa Unita" park in Potenza.
This project allows to deepen the design strategies implemented to enhance the "role of the ecological-environmental component within urban systems". This is accomplished through a "systemic approach" and with an "holistic vision" rooted in the evolutionary trends of territorial realities.
The fifteen years passed since the Park inauguration allows us to go back to the method and project choises with the aims to find confirmations and any critical issues. This can be done by verifying the project at different scales as well as by studying the choices of planning tools that have governed this successful process of urban transformation
The contribution proposes a reflection on possible settlement rebalancing strategies of a large area which, starting from the awareness that the identity specificities of the places and the vegetation arrangements find their origins in the productive system of transhumance. The hypotheses tend to explore the possibility of building an integrated urban region by breaking down, through new and traditional infrastructures for mobility, the barriers to accessibility to inland areas
The selective inhibition of inducible nitric oxide synthase prevents intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice
Nitric oxide (NO) involvement in intestinal ischemia–reperfusion (I/R) injury has been widely
suggested but its protective or detrimental role remains still question of debate. Here, we examine
the impact of supplementation or inhibition of NO availability on intestinal dysmotility and
infammation caused by mesenteric I/R in mice. Ischemia 45min and reperfusion 24 h were
performed by superior mesenteric artery occlusion in female Swiss mice. Saline-treated shamoperated
(S) or normal mice without surgery (N) served as controls. Drugs were subcutaneously
injected 0, 4, 8, and 18 h after ischemia. Upper gastrointestinal transit (GIT, estimated through
black marker gavage), intestinal myeloperoxidase activity (MPO), intestinal malondialdehyde levels
(MDA), Evans blue extravasation (EB), intestinal histological damage, and mean arterial pressure
(MAP) were considered. In I/R mice, GIT was significantly delayed compared to S and N groups;
MPO activity and EB extravasation enhanced, whereas MDA levels did not change. Compared to N
and S groups, in I/R mice selective iNOS inhibitor P-BIT significantly prevented motor, MPO and
EB changes; putative iNOS inhibitor aminoguanidine significantly counteracted GIT delay but not
neutrophil recruitment and the increase in vascular permeability; NOS inhibitor L-NAME and NO
precursor L-arginine were scarcely or no effective. Furthermore, in S mice aminoguanidine caused
a significant increase of MPO activity reverted by H1 histamine receptor antagonist pre-treatment.
Unlike P-BIT, aminoguanidine and L-NAME injection increased MAP. These fndings confirm a
detrimental role for iNOS-derived NO overproduction during reperfusion. Aminoguanidine
associated neutrophil recruitment suggests that this drug could act through mechanisms additional
to iNOS inhibition involving both eNOS blockade, as indicated by its hemodynamic effects, and
indirect activation of H1 histamine receptors. Nitric Oxide 14 (2006) 212–21
The River Contract of the Tiber from Castel Giubileo to the Foce: An Innovative Practice for a Relationship between Tiber and Rome
The River Contract is a little-known practice and an unconventional planning procedure but an opportunity in many Italian Regions to overcome the problems of coherence between levels of Government and to promote participation. The River Contract is a voluntary agreement of strategic and negotiated planning, aiming the protection, proper management of water resources, recovery, and enhancement of the river territories, together with flood protection, contributing to the local development of such areas. In 2017, in Rome, started the procedure for the River Contract by Agenda Tevere Onlus. This paper illustrates a practice-oriented research built by multidisciplinary approach and a method able to mix cultural and participatory knowledge. Because the Tiber is the river of Rome, the research aims to raise the possibility of enhancing the strategic and fundamental role of the Tiber in relation to the City through four key issues: the urban landscape, because the Tiber is intrinsically related with the city; the public space, because the Tiber must be a good of the city; the sustainable use, because the Tiber must be for the city; the active participation, because the interventions on the Tiber must be shared in the city by those who live and work in Rome
In accordance with the the agenda of the jointly promoted UNESCO and IOM "International migration programme", museums have been elected as special venues to foster an inter-cultural dialogue and thus facilitate integration. Within this analitic framework, the author takes into consideration the migrant museums recently founded in some European port cities which became the most important gateways to the Americas throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s when the Great Migration took place
The article examines the role judges had in the Resistance in the yars 1943-1945 and fucuses in particular on the Judicial District of the Liguria. The Italian historiography dealing with this specific issue is rarther limited and there are no studies concerning Liguria. Therefore, the article is manly based on primary sources. The author has identified several cases of judges involved in different types of Resistance activities and reconstructed their professional career, the modalities of their opposition to Nazi-fascism and their punishment, mostly the death sentence or deportation
The annulment of marriage due to impotence obtained by Anna Maria Pallavicini: unpublished materials and perspectives of an eighteenth-century case
In February 1716, after almost three years of marriage, the noble Anna Maria Pallavicini (1698-1751) began the battle to obtain the annulment of her wedding with Gio. The documentation −handwritten and printed− of the complex legal process which led to the annulment in 1720 is kept in the archives of Bologna and is now being presented and studied for the first time. In fact, the cause for the annulment begun in Genoa ended its process before the Roman Congregation of the Council of which, in those years, Prospero Lambertini was secretary. He will be responsible for transferring the papers and documents of the whole process to Bologna. He dispute between the two spouses, caused by Pallavicini’s request for annulment due to the husband’s impotence and therefore his inability to consummate the marriage contract, will give life to an interesting legal path materialized by the accounts of witnesses close to the two spouses, from the medical recognitions carried out both on the body of her husband and those requested and carried out on Anna Maria, from the phases and methodologies of investigation carried out along the lines of the authoritative and then universally accepted doctrine of the Jesuit Tomas Sanchez (1550-1610) author, among other works, of the three volumes De sancto matrimonii sacramento disputationum. After a long and heated battle, in which the fear that the controversy could unleash conflicts and clashes detrimental to the peace of the Genova weighed heavily, Pallavicini obtained recognition of her request, becoming a precedent for other subsequent causes
