The psychological impact of COVID-19 on women's wellbeing during pregnancy and postpartum one year after pandemic outbreak in Italy. A Systematic review

Background. Coronavirus (COVID-19) contagion prevalence and the severity of its symptoms do not seem different for pregnant and postpartum women than the general population. Nevertheless, the possible traumatic experiences related to the spread of covid-19 show negative effects on women's mental health during the childbearing and postnatal period. Although international reviews observed this phenomenon worldwide, an in-depth exploration of Italian pregnant and postpartum women's wellbeing is needed, considering the specific phases of the virus spread and the restrictive measures imposed by Italian government throughout the last year. Aim. This research aims to identify and discuss existing studies on women's antenatal and postnatal mental health during the first year of the pandemic in Italy. Method. In accordance with PRISMA guidelines, a systematic review was conducted, using the following databases: Web of Science, Embase, EBSCO (APA PsycArticles, APA PsycInfo; Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection; MEDLINE), Pubmed and other sources. Results. Eleven articles were included in the review and three meaning trajectories were identified: Pregnancy andpostpartum continuum —from anxiety to depression andpost-traumatic stress; Risk dimensions: previous psychopathologies and the lack of social support; Focus on others health before themselves. Conclusion. Findings suggest different vulnerable areas, such as a high fear for others health and the loss of the protective dimension of social support for pregnant and postpartum women's wellbeing in Italy. This evidence might help to project useful and specific psychological screening and intervention programmes for perinatal clinic

Migrant women and gender-based violence: Focus group with operators

Gender violence is the most important factor that leads women refugees and asylum seekers to leave their country and is one of the main risks to which the migration journey exposes them. To the multidimensional trauma of migration is added the complex trauma of gender violence making migrant women even more vulnerable. This study, aimed to investigate meanings of experience of the operators who deal with migrant women in Southern Italy. For the purpose of the study, we use the Focus Group, for data collection and the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to analyze the data. The study confirms the need to structure specific paths for the well-being of forced migrant women victims of violence that respect gender dynamics and cultural differences. In particular, in the context of the transcultural clinic, it will be demonstrated that focus groups are a useful resource and propose the construction of “métissée” spaces

Multiple sclerosis online: an analysis of the narratives of multiple sclerosis (ms) experience between illness and health blog

In the field of e-health, the research has recently focused on blog as narrative autobiographical spaces that, along the illness-health continuum, represent important narrative devices of illness experience. In particular, multiple sclerosis (ms), as degenerative chronic disease, induces to a continuous re-signification of own experience. There are still too little studies about the experience of ms narrated in blog. The aim of the study is to explore themes in blog written by people with ms, identifying which differences exist in the narration of illness experience based on the time of communication of diagnosis. Seven blog written by women with ms were analysed diagnosed in young adulthood and in adulthood. From the analysis four cluster emerged and subsequently projected on the factorial map and read through three sense vectors: The process of integration of the ms experience in the own identity; The illness online narration as a strategy of agency; Re-organization of the relationship between self and other. From our research the blog is seen as an organizer of meaning and resource in terms of improving well-being and health promoter in the experience of living together with the ms

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
