Induction machine stator fault on-line diagnosis based on LabVIEW environment
The benefits of machine condition monitoring have been widely recognized as superior with respect to other alternative maintenance approaches. As matter of fact, condition monitoring is an operational strategy for machine integrity assessment, fault identification and life extension. The cost-benefit ratio will be reduced in progress owing to the commercial diagnostic environment availability. This paper presents the implementation of a diagnostic procedure to detect induction machine stator faults based on LabVIEW environment. The diagnosis is performed by using a suitable neural network, trained by faulted machine simulator, that has, as input variables, the negative sequence current component and the variation of the positive sequence current component between actual and healthy machine conditions. The statement of a trigger threshold that discerns between true faults and intrinsic disymmetry of the machine is discussed as well
Folding of Phase Noise Spectra in Charge-Pump Phase-Locked Loops Induced by Frequency Division
In charge-pump phase-locked loops, the reference signal samples the phase delay between reference and feedback signal. When a frequency divider is present in the loop, the spectrum folding of the VCO phase noise caused by the inherent sub-sampling operation adds a relevant contribution to the in-band output noise. This paper elaborates the discrete-time linear model of PLLs, in order to take into account spectrum folding, and provides a simple equation for the estimation of the output noise. The closed-form expressions are validated on the basis of behavioral simulations of a third-order charge-pump PLL
Folding of Phase Spectrum in Phase-Locked Loops
In charge-pump phase-locked loops used as
frequency synthesizers, the phase error between the reference
and the divider output is sampled at the reference rate. This
operation is an inherent sub-sampling of the VCO phase and it
causes conversion of VCO noise and disturbances from highto
low-frequency offsets, which may dominate over reference
and charge-pump noise. Starting from the discrete-time linear
model of PLLs, this paper proposes a model, which takes into
account spectrum folding and allows deriving closed-form
expressions of output noise as a function of noise contributors

Detection of fibronectin-binding protein genes in staphylococcal strains from peri-prosthesis infections
Several studies have been devoted to identify the adhesion mechanisms of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis, which are the most frequent causes of prosthesis-associated infections. Recently, in particular for Staphylococcus aureus, considerable attention has been given to the host protein receptors as mediators for bacterial adherence. Fibronectin, an important matrix protein, seems to be a major ligand for bacterial adherence in the early stages of infection. To determine the importance of the fibronectin adhesin as virulence factor in Staphylococcus-induced prosthesis infection, a simple and reliable method using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was devised to identify fibronectin adhesin genes (fnbA and fnbB). Results obtained by this method were in accordance with those obtained by the in vitro phenotypic characterization of binding ability to fibronectin of Staphylococcus strains
Reaction of Pentacarbonyliron(0) with Phthalodinitrile in Dimethylformamide and Isolation of Carbonyl Derivatives of Iron(II) Phthalocyanine Stabilized by Group 6 Donor Atoms
The preparation and properties of some phthalocyanine (pc)-carbonyl derivatives [Fe(pc)(CO)L] [L =dimethylformamide (dmf), tetrahydrofuran, dimethylsulphoxide, ammonia, and PrnNH,] are reported, the first compound in the series being obtained directly from the reaction of [Fe(CO),J with o-C,H,(CN), in dmf
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
