Classifying TRIZ methods to speed up their adoption and the ROI for SMEs
Full text linkThe interest about TRIZ is increasing day by day in the Small and Medium Enterprises - SMEs. Many of them ask for solutions but sometimes they cannot manage the costs coming from a deep review of their design projects. Our research group is carrying on a project to customize the adoption of TRIZ by the SMEs. The goal is to speed up this adoption and to disclose the Return Of Investment - ROI - as early as possible. The project classifies and subdivides TRIZ methods in order to foresee the generation of solutions falling into different categories. This classification has been exploited and validated in the field thanks to the collaboration with a hi-tech SME, the Sei Laser Converting srl

No full textIl dibattito sull’Area Metropolitana dello Stretto - descritta dal geografo Lucio Gambi negli anni sessanta, pianificata nelle proposte progettuali dei gruppi Samonà e Quaroni nel 1969 in occasione
della consultazione sul collegamento stabile, indagata negli studi e nelle proposte susseguitesi in più di quarant’anni - non ha prodotto, almeno fino ad ora, la messa a punto di strumenti di pianificazione in grado di programmare per essa uno scenario unitario e plausibile. Gli studi sulla realizzazione del ponte tra le due sponde, ponendosi come occasione per la formulazione di un ridisegno totale dei due versanti, mancano di un piano integrato in grado di guidare gli interventi, captare le risorse, concordare le strategie, i modi e i tempi di attuazione. Probabili problematiche derivanti dall’appartenenza delle due aree a due distinte, di cui una a statuto speciale, hanno di fatto determinato un’urbanistica compartimentata cresciuta sulla base di scelte strategiche effettuate singolarmente dalle due città, mediante l’approvazione di progetti urbani circoscritti, espressione di una politica di programmazione parziale legata alla riqualificazione di brani di tessuto o alla realizzazione di grandi edifici destinati a servizi
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Detecting peripersonal space: The promising role of ultrasonics
No full textIntroduction: The approach of an external stimulus to the peripersonal space (PPS) modifies some physiological measures, including the cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the supplementary motor area and premotor cortex. CBF measurement may be useful to assess brain activations when producing specific motor responses, likely mediated by cortical and subcortical neural circuits. Methods: This study investigated PPS in 15 healthy humans by characterizing the hemodynamic responses (pulsatility index, PI; and heart rate, HR) related to different directions of movements of individual's hand toward and backward his/her own face, so to perturb PPS). Results: We observed that the CBF and HR were enhanced more when the stimulated hand was inside the PPS of the face in the passive and active condition than when the hand was outside the PPS and during motor imagery task. Conclusions: These results suggest that the modulation of PPS-related brain responses depends on specific sensory-motor integration processes related to the location and the final position of a target in the PPS. We may thus propose TCD as a rapid and easy approach to get information concerning brain responses related to stimuli approaching the PPS. Understanding the modulations of brain activations during tasks targeting PPS can help to understand the results of psychophysical and behavioral trials and to plan patient-tailored cognitive rehabilitative training
