The article presents a research concerning an important group from Romania, at risk of social exclusion – young people between 15 and 24 years old, which are being exposed at the risk of exclusion from the labor market. The work is structured in three parts, addressing as many issues, respectively an attempt to capture the main aspects of the concept of social exclusion the way they are being presented in the literature, a brief characterization of the socio-economic context in which the studied group is placed and activates and a restoration of the main vulnerabilities that the youth is facing on the labor market. The vulnerabilities have been identified through three focus groups organized with young people at risk of exclusion from the labor market, with the specialists who manage the problem of employment and with some employers, all from Bihor County. The results were fortified with analyzes based on existing data and with results from specialized studies. The identified risks were grouped in two categories, respectively risks arising from the socio-economic context in which young people are living (insufficient jobs that are being inadequate to the educational and vocational training of the youth; unfavorable attitude of the employers towards young people; the unemployment; the long-term unemployment) and risks posed by the particular characteristics of young people (the residence in a rural area; being member of a deinstitutionalized youth group or of a family in difficulty, along with a low level of education, reduced experience and an induced deterrent attitude in seeking a job)

Consecințe psihosociale ale fenomenului de bullying școlar. Cercetare calitativă în liceele orădene: Psychosocial Consequences of the School Bullying Phenomenon. Qualitative Research in Oradean High Schools

    No full text
This study represents an analysis of the bullying phenomenon, seen as a specific adolescence behaviour by most of the experts, with strong influences on pupils’ personality development. For this reason it cannot be ignored or tolerated by the social actors who are involved in the education process. The act of bullying is noted as an aggression subdivision, that seeks to assert power through physical, psychological or social harm, in direct or indirect ways. Physical violence is not a condition for a bullying act to be classified as such. There are also verbal, relational, psychological, social, and relational types of bullying. The roles taken over by the actors in the bulling act are the perpetrator, the victim, the active spectators, the passive spectators and the defending witnesses. This paper will present a qualitative sociological research in the secondary schools in Oradea. It focuses on the characteristics of the main actors involved in bullying (the aggressor and the victim). We will also suggest anti-bullying programs and practices in schools, on the basis of interviews and a focus group with specialists

Copii lăsaţi acasă de emigranţi. Studiu în judeţul Bihor: Children left home by emigrants. A study in Bihor County

Starting from the limits of the current research on the phenomena of Romanian parent's migration for work by leaving the children at home, we collected data from schools throughout the Bihor County, conducted a survey with people in charge of these children and performed a secondary analysis on a survey with high school students. Result show there is a clear pattern of transnational family with fathers leaving abroad in 50% of the cases. When mothers are leaving too, children are left in charge of the extended family (mostly grandparents) or even by themselves. Among children of the migrants, those in this situation have the highest risk for school underachievement, low psychological well-being and deviant behavior. Research show that Romanian institutions that have to deal with these cases are insufficiently trained and engaged in solving the problems that appear. An integrated effort towards identification and properly dealing with these cases would definitely increase the quality of life of children left home

Familia de origine - predictor al modelului familial adoptat de studenți. Studiu comparativ - zona transfrontalieră Bihor-Hajdu-Bihar: Family of Origin - a Predictive Factor of the Family Model Embraced by Students. Comparative Study in Bihor-Hajdu-Bihar Euro-Region

The present study aims to fill the research gap regarding the marital and reproductive attitudes and behaviours of students appertaining to two similar but differentiated socio-cultural areas: the Western border of Romania (Bihor county) and the Eastern border of Hungary (Hajdu-Bihar area). A secondary analysis was conducted on the data collected within HERD research among 1.323 Romanian and 1.295 Hungarian higher education students. Comparing the samples, the results showed differences and resemblances: the family background determines students’ marital and reproductive behavior for both samples but the decision to establish an own family is biased by groups, being affected by social, cultural, educational and financial factors. The fact that, opposite to the Hungarian sample, the financial stability is considered by the Romanian students to be the most important element when deciding to have a family, could be interpreted as an alarm sign for the authorities; they must create an optimum context for the proliferation of new families. Although Romanian students manifest attitudes that aim to transcend traditional norms, they are still being exposed to the influence of these values, while Hungarian students are more affected by modern social norms

The issue of social inclusion of young peoplewho come from child protection system in Romaniawas and still is at the center of concerns of decisionmakersin the system, especially due to the fact thatmuch of the effort focused in the last 25 years on thiseffect, apparently produced no substantial changes interms of integration into society of the category ofyoung people leaving the child protection system. Inpost-communist Romania, the legal framework that isgoverning the creation and diversification of servicesoriented to preparing young people for independentliving has developed. How these regulations areimplemented depend upon the concerns of the socialactors invested with responsibilities in this field locally. This paper aims, on the one hand, to highlight thespecific problems faced by this group of young peopleand, on the other hand, to capture specific aspects of lifestrategies adopted by individuals in this category, asreactions to the measures taken by social actors investedwith specific responsabilities. The study was conductedin Oradea, including both young people from theprotection system and professionals who interact withthem

AbstractFrustration intolerance (FI) is a central REBT concept and it was defined as inability to tolerate reality that is different from our demands. The present study aims to support the idea that Roma population differs from Romanian population regarding frustration tolerance and to reveal that FI could be a factor that prevents Roma to value education and marriage's stability. The participants (55 Roma and 40 Romanians) completed SGABS and LFT scale. The Roma subjects recorded higher FI than Romanians. The educated Roma expressed higher tolerance to school, work and future. The Roma with several partners showed higher FI to school

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
