La novela terrígena de Mario Verdugo: un encuadre maula del campo chileno
No full textLa novela terrígena (2011) by Chilean poet Mario Verdugo, depicts a trickster image of the province through a “maula framing”, which shows both the flaw and the potential of the static 2022representation of Chilean territory in Criollista literature. Through a novel that does not narrate, Verdugo’s conceptual poetry deploys an impersonal gaze that selects and combines symbolic and material remains of the countryside of the Maule area to construct a terrígena imaginary (Mariano Latorre) stripped of national symbols and deformed by referents of the sci-fi world and mass culture. This new way of imagining the province and in particular, the rural area becomes a performative exercise that reflects on the possibilities of literature to represent these territories against the identity discourses that have tended to overcode them, and in turn make visible the evident temporal and spatial dislocation produced by the capitalist machinery in its global process, in which the human figure is increasingly blurred as a point of reference.La novela terrígena (2011) del poeta chileno Mario Verdugo construye una imagen tramposa de la provincia a través de un encuadre maula que muestra tanto la falla como el potencial de la representación estática del territorio chileno en la literatura criollista. A través de una novela que no narra, la poesía conceptual de Verdugo despliega una mirada impersonal que selecciona y combina restos simbólicos y materiales del campo de la zona del Maule para construir un imaginario terrígena (Mariano Latorre) despojado de símbolos nacionales y deformado por referentes del mundo sci-fi y de la cultura de masas. Esta nueva forma de imaginar la provincia y, en particular, la zona rural se vuelve un ejercicio performativo que reflexiona sobre las posibilidades de la literatura para representar estos territorios a contrapelo de los discursos identitarios que han tendido a sobrecodificarlos, y a su vez visibilizar la evidente dislocación temporal y espacial producida por la maquinaria capitalista en su proceso global, en la que la figura humana se difumina cada vez más como punto de referencia
