-----Among cultural-based urban regeneration projects that operate within those spaces waiting for an improvement of the existing public functions (Albano e Mela, 2020) a particularly prominent role is currently played by experiences
conducted by schools, often with a strong involvement by parents’ associations, which are also an expression of new modes of interaction between citizens and institutions for collaborative governance practices. In these circumstances, the school, as an institution closed in its educational mission, emerges instead as a local cultural device that is alive pulsating, as it enables a plurality of relations, but also project opportunities for spaces within and beyond the school service embedded in the needs and requirements of the neighborhoods in which schools are sited. To discuss these unprecedented interactions
between educational actors (institutions and educational communities) and city planning, this contribution critically examines an emblematic case: the Open and Participatory School Di Donato in the Esquilino district of Rome
Femminielli and the city: urban space and non-binary gender identities in Naples
This essay examines the interrelation between (peripheral) gender identity and (peripheral) urban space. The analysis focuses on the femminiello, a quintessentially Neapolitan non-binary subjectivity embodying a fluid sexual identity, performatively crossing across masculine and feminine, deeply connected to the territory where it originates—Naples’ inner city and its low-income historic neighborhoods. Accordingly, the essay looks at the material and immaterial interrelations between urban space and the femminiello identity. Methodologically, the study is built on a qualitative approach based mainly on fieldwork interviews with three of the most prominent femminielli of the Neapolitan context: CiroCiretta, a recognized exponent of the femminielli community and among the founders of a cultural association devoted to spreading and preserving the ancient femminiello culture; Tarantina Taran, an iconic local figure dubbed as “Naples’ last femminiello” in the city’s Spanish Quarters; and Loredana, activist and secretary of Naples’ Transsexual Association. The voices and stories of these three femminielli led us to read this non-binary gender identity in its relation to urban space, from different and complementary perspectives, which ultimately helped us trace a map of changing meaning and emerging forms of adaptation over time
Seguire i soldi.
Back to (the Future) School. Reshaping the Relationship Between Mobility and Schools
The paper proposes the first results of the La mia scuola va in classe A project, a participatory research and planning process promoted by the City of Venice, with the collaboration of the Cooperativa Sestante di Venezia and the Iuav University of Venice. Co-funded by MIT’s “National Experimental Program of Sustainable Home-School and Home-Work Mobility.” The project tries to rethink the relationship between school and city, between school spaces and urban fabric, through the development of educational and participatory processes aimed at the school system. The participatory pathway involves the school community in developing actions and interventions that promote active mobility on home-school routes and a rethinking of the street, threshold and proximity spaces of four inland Venetian elementary schools. Through a reconstruction of the process, we reflect on how to interweave relationships and mutual learning between school and city, with the shared elaboration of an imaginary oriented toward active mobility, awareness of the importance of motor autonomy and the psycho-physical well-being of the local community. The proposed design solutions will have the role of holding together the different instances in a fertile path leading to the improvement of the conditions of the spaces of mobility and proximity, with the idea of opening the city to the school and the school to the city, to improve the relationship between people and to return spaces of possibility to children.
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
