Regularization of optical flow with M-band wavelet transform
No full textThe optical flow is an important tool for problems arising in the analysis of image sequences. Flow fields generated by various existing solving techniques are often noisy and partially incorrect, especially near occlusions or motion boundaries. Therefore, the additional information on the scene gained from a sequence of images is usually worse. In this paper, discrete wavelet transform has been adopted in order to enhance the reliability of optical flow estimation. A generalization of the well-known dyadic orthonormal wavelets to the case of the dilation scale factor M > 2 with N vanishing moments has been used, and it has proved to be a useful regularizing tool. The advantages in the computations have been shown by experimental results performed on real image sequences. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved

"Strongyla". I rituali di Santa Venera (Paestum) e il "Simposio" di Platone
No full textThis paper examines the "strongyla" («circles»), known from a Latin inscription (EDR100734) and identified with circular niches placed on either side of the "naós" (the so-called “Oikos”) of the sanctuary in Santa Venera at Paestum. These niches were distributed into two separate systems and functional in the practice of the "loutrón nymphikón", the “nuptial
bath” of the girls in preparation for marriage and motherhood. In this regard, the author highlights that the term "strongylon" was used in Plato’s "Symposium" to define the circular shape of the first human beings in the account of the famous, etiological myth of the missing halves. Consequentially, the ritual still celebrated under the Roman period in the "strongyla" was the result of a centuries-old tradition permeated by specific concepts and beliefs. Finally, the dichotomy between Aphrodite Urania and Aphrodite Pandemos is considered, as well as that between Eros Uranius and Eros Pandemos. This
distinction is discussed in the "Symposium" and was expressed at the sanctuary of Santa Venera through the spatial and social polarity of the “Rectangular Hall” as opposed to the “West Wing”
Results of Using Neural Networks for Technological Processes Control of Iron Mill
No full textAbstractThe article deals with the problem of optimization complex processes of mining and processing complexes of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the article characteristics of used control systems were analyzed and it revealed the necessity of the use of non-existing approaches to “fine” adjustment of adaptive control systems. On the basis of the research the author proposes the structure of an adaptive control system grinding process, built using an artificial neural network with radial basis function. To evaluate the effectiveness of the developed system was evaluated reducing power consumption parameter and was proved the possibility of reducing power consumption using the system by 6.9%
