Phase recovery by using optical fiber dispersion and pulse pre-stretching
No full textIn this work, the applicability of a recently proposed phase recovery technique is extended, by using temporal pulse pre-stretching. As a proof of concept, the light pulses emitted by a two-stage laser system consisting of a sub-picosecond passively mode-locked fiber laser followed by an erbium-doped fiber amplifier were experimentally analyzed. These results were successfully compared with two indirect phase recovery techniques, both based on the Gerchberg–Saxton recursive algorithm and with the intensity autocorrelation when sub-picosecond light pulses were analyzed.Fil: Cuadrado Laborde, Christian Ariel. Globalización y regionalización: respuestas regionales a los problemas no económicos
No full textEn este artículo, el autor señala que, si bien hay que reconocer que la globalización universalizadora es un hecho, la regionalización puede dar respuesta a problemas no económicos tales como la defensa de los derechos humanos y la democracia, el desarrollo sustentable, el narcotráfico, los movimientos guerrilleros, los conflictos territoriales, el colapso del Estado, y otros. Frente a la dominación hegemónica de Estados Unidos, el autor analiza diversas formas de integración latinoamericanas, como el Grupo de Contadora y el de Río. De igual modo, estudia los mecanismos de cooperación interregional establecidos entre América Latina y la Unión Europea para ampliar el margen de autonomía del continente latinoamericano con respecto a Estados Unidos.Although recognizing that globalization is a fact, the author points out that regionalization may be an answer to non-economical problems such as the defense of human rights and democracy, sustainable development, drug trafficking, guerrilla movements, territorial conflicts, the collapse of the state, and others. In view of the preponderant influence of the United States, Ramiro Brotons analyzes several means of Latin American integration such as the Contadora and Rio Groups. Similarly, he studies the inter-regional cooperation mechanisms established between Latin America and the European Union in order to increase Latin America's autonomy margin with respect to the United States

No full textPoly (vinyl ethers) are compounds with great value in the coating industry due to exhib-iting properties such as high viscosity, soft adhesiveness, resistance to saponification and solubility in water and organic solvents. However, the main challenge in this field is the synthesis of vinyl ether monomers that can be synthetized by methodologies such as vinyl transfer, reduction of vinyl phosphate ether, isomerization, hydrogenation of acetylenic ethers, elimination, addition of alcohols to alkyne species etc. Nevertheless, the most successful strategy to access to vinyl ether deriv-atives is the addition of alcohols to alkynes catalyzed by transition metals such as molybdenum, tungsten, ruthenium, palladium, platinum, gold, silver, iridium and rhodium, where gold‐NHC catalysts have shown the best results in vinyl ether synthesis. Recently, the hydrophenoxylation reaction was found to proceed through a digold‐assisted process where the species that determine the rate of the reaction are PhO‐[Au(IPr)] and alkyne‐[Au(IPr)]. Later, the improvement of the hy-drophenoxylation reaction by using a mixed combination of Cu‐NHC and Au‐NHC catalysts was also reported. DFT studies confirmed a cost‐effective method for the hydrophenoxylation reaction and located the rate‐determining step, which turned out to be quite sensitive to the sterical hin-drance due to the NHC ligands
Multibody model-based analysis of a 2 DOF translational mechanism: specification breakdown from system to sub-system
No full textIn high-precision complex mechatronic devices, specifications are mostly affected by the contribution of several disciplines. Thus, in order to facilitate the fulfilment of the specifications, it is crucial to have a well-defined requirement for each sub-system during the entire design process. Model based system engineering (MBSE) is a multidisciplinary approach with the aim of developing a balanced system solution in response to various stakeholder needs. A multibody dynamics model is developed to break down specifications from system to sub-system level. An analysis of the impact of the motion of a 2 DOF mechanism is done. Special focus is given to the location and impact of the interaction between the Center of Gravity and Center of Stiffness to the reaction forces.
