The Australian Commonwealth Bill : observations by Mr. J.H. Symon, Q.C., in reply to Chief Justice Way’s attack upon the delegates and Mr. Chamberlain’s "compromise" as to clause 74.
Sir Josiah Symon (1846-1934) a South Australian lawyer and member of the Legislative Council from 1881-87, was one of the chief contributors to Federation. He opposed the 1884 Federal council bill on the grounds it would delay or prevent Federation, but became president of the Australasian Federation League in South Australia in 1895 (giving an impassioned speech in favour of federation at the inaugural meeting of the League) and was a member of the 1897-98 Federal Convention, contributing largely to its debates and chairing the judiciary committee. His particular interests were in the parity of the two houses and resolution of deadlocks between them, fair representation of all states, and the establishment of a Federal court of appeal. He took an active part in the referendum campaign in South Australia, speaking with masterful oratory at meetings and publishing a number of pamphlets, some of which indicate his characteristic vigorous refutation of the arguments of opponents. He headed the poll in South Australia for the Senate at the 1901 Commonwealth elections and became leader of the Opposition in the Senate, and attorney-general in 1904-5.Scanned from the original held in Rare Books & Special Collections, Barr Smith Library.Library copy in Symon’s pamphlets collection has title corrected by author to read: The Australian Commonwealth Bill : observations by Mr. J.H. Affective Adaptations: Stephen King from the page to the Screen
In an effort to highlight how and why so many adaptations seem to fail utterly, I\u27ve been focusing on exploring three adaptations of Stephen King that, I believe, typify three different relationships of affect as pertains to cinematic adaptations of horror novels. King is my case study as one of, if not the most, adapted author in living memory, as well as one of the most widely read.

Participant-led video diaries
Book synopsis: Most researchers in organization and management studies stick to two or three traditional research methods like surveys and interviews. Sticking with the familiar is seen as a safe bet, and innovation is discouraged by academic incentives and rewards. But research participants are now suffering from 'survey fatigue', and using the same old methods runs the risk of generating the same old findings.
This book describes twelve unconventional methodologies in organization and management research. These include unconventional research settings and data sources, unconventional research designs and data collection methods, unconventional analytic approaches, and designs and methods that exploit new technology developments. The aim is to encourage dialogue and experimentation with regard to the development of innovative, unconventional approaches to organization and management research. Several commentators have criticized the way in which research methods have become more formulaic, and have argued for greater diversity in research approaches. The methodological perspective that the we adopt shapes our interpretation of the information that we gather. Different methods generate different kinds of information, leading to different ways of understanding the phenomena that we are investigating. Our methods influence our styles of theorizing, ways of thinking and reasoning, and forms of writing and reporting research.
This book will be of value to academic researchers in organization and management studies, Doctoral candidates, and Masters students on MBA and similar programmes

The impacts of short break provision on disabled children and families: an international literature review
For over 30 years, short breaks have been part of the landscape of support provision for families with a disabled child. Historically, the term ‘respite care’ has been used in much of the research literature concerning short breaks for families with a disabled child. However, ‘short breaks’ has become the preferred term, partly due to the negative connotations of family carers requiring ‘respite’ from their children, and partly because short breaks now encompass a much wider range of supports than out-of-home placement in specialist residential facilities (Cramer and Carlin, 2008). As such, the term ‘short breaks’ will be used throughout this review, with the exception of direct quotes from research studies where the term ‘respite’ is used by study participants or study authors
Representation of Cinematographic Postmemory about Symon Petlіura on the Example of the Movie «P.K.P.»
The proposed study focuses on the problem of the conflict of memories of Symon Petliura in modern Ukraine. Looking for reasons for the ambiguous perception of the figure of the Chief Otaman, the author draws readers’ views on ways to construct the image of «alien / enemy» in the Soviet Union.
One example of this ideological mechanism of influencing public consciousness has been and remains the way to visualize the memory of the past with the help of films. The construction of memory in the cultural space has concentrated all possible mechanisms of influence on the social consciousness, especially cinema. The Bolsheviks realized very early on the huge role of cinema as a means of influencing mass culture. With the help of cinema, the party leadership sought to form a «correct» view of reality, thus educating the people in the spirit of «communism and internationalism».
The film «P.K.P» became a vivid embodiment of the Soviet propaganda machine and contributed to the formation of the image of «Petliura-enemy». The film has long been out of research attention and only at the beginning of the 21st century became available to the mass public. An important role in the creation of the film was played by the figure of Yurii Tiutiunnyk – General of the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic. Based on his memory, we can reconstruct in details the historical background of the film.
The Chief Otaman continues to be the embodiment of controversy in the cultural memory of Ukrainians – a hero of the Ukrainian revolution and a traitor
