Pengecoran (Casting) adalah salah satu teknik pembuatan produk dimana logam dicairkan dalam tungku peleburan kemudian dituangkan ke dalam rongga cetakan. Cetakan yang lazim digunakan terbuat dari pasir yang mengandung atau telah dicampur dengan bahan pengikat. Penggunaan bahan pengikat yang berbeda-beda akan menghasilkan produk cor dengan tingkat kualitas dan fluiditas yang berbeda pula. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan lumpur lapindo sebagai bahan pengikat pada pasir cetak terhadap fluiditas hasil pengecoran logam paduan Al-Si. Selain itu juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lumpur lapindo terhadap kekerasan permukaan dan cacat coran pada logam paduan Al-Si. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental yang melihat hasil dari sebuah perlakuan terhadap suatu kelompok spesimen. Setelah diberikan perlakuan, spesimen akan dianalisa kecacatannya dan kemampuan alir logam cor (fluiditas). Selain itu dilakukan pula pengujian kekerasan permukaan, dan foto mikro dan foto makro untuk melihat cacat yang terjadi secara lebih detail. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, nilai fluiditas paling tinggi terdapat pada spesimen coran yang menggunakan campuran lumpur lapindo sebesar 5% yaitu 787.60 mm. Sedangkan yang paling rendah terdapat pada spesimen coran yang menggunakan campuran lumpur lapindo sebesar 10% yaitu 718.30 mm . Nilai kekerasan tertinggi terdapat pada spesimen coran yang menggunakan campuran lumpur lapindo sebesar 15% dengan rata-rata nilai kekerasan 133.3 HV. Dari hasil analisa cacat cor secara kasat mata menunjukkan bahwa spesimen coran yang menggunakan campuran lumpur lapindo sebesar 15% memiliki cacat cor yang paling sedikit dan paling kecil bila dibandingkan dengan spesimen lainnya. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa lumpur lapindo dapat menjadi kandidat terbaik pengganti bahan pengikat bentonit pada pengecoran pasir (sand casting).

    Developing a monitoring protocol for a threatened species in a developing country: Lessons learned from monitoring the Togean Islands babirusa

    Monitoring is a critical step in evaluating the efficacy of conservation measures, and having an effective monitoring protocol can serve as a warning system for population decline. We performed a power analysis to develop a camera trap-based monitoring protocol to detect occupancy changes of the endangered Togean Islands babirusa (Babyrousa togeanensis) as a case study for a threatened species in a developing country. We divided our study sites, representing the entire distribution range of the species, into three areas following the species occupancy probability: high (0.8–1), medium (0.4–0.8), and low occupancy (0–0.4), and estimated the required sampling efforts to detect declines in occupancy in each area. Under a realistic sampling scenario (i.e., maximum 135 camera stations), our protocol is able to detect a ≥ 20 % occupancy decline in high occupancy areas and a ≥ 40 % decline in medium occupancy areas. The low occupancy area requires unrealistic sampling efforts to monitor changes in occupancy. We provide budgeting estimations for monitoring scenarios that are achievable in developing countries, as well as strategies to allocate limited funding. Furthermore, we derived some lessons from our study as guidelines for practitioners to develop and implement a cost-effective monitoring protocol for threatened species in developing countries, particularly by considering the species traits, management boundaries, priority areas, and budget constraints

    Conserving large mammals on small islands: A case study on one of the world’s most understudied pigs, the Togean islands babirusa

    Conserving large mammals on small islands poses a great challenge, given their high resource demand within the limited space available. The endangered Togean Islands babirusa (Babyrousa togeanensis) is one of these species, with a distribution range limited to four small islands in the Togean Archipelago, Indonesia. Despite being listed as endangered, very little information is available on the distribution and ecology of this species. To address this critical knowledge gap, we here report the first field-based ecological study of the Togean Islands babirusa across its entire distribution range. Following a stratified random sampling procedure, we distributed camera traps at 103 stations across four islands to collect data on the species distribution from July-October 2022. We performed an occupancy modeling analysis to assess the species’ habitat use, with various habitat features estimated through remote sensing and field measurements as covariates. We found that forest and mangrove availability over a large area positively influenced babirusa habitat selection. Babirusas only made use of agricultural areas when large forest areas were available nearby. Our results highlight the benefits of redesigning the national park area to accommodate babirusa habitat requirements, specifically by reassigning the non-forested park areas (about 30% of the park area) to non-protected forests currently outside the park boundary (about 50% of total forested area). Our case study exemplifies key challenges associated with conserving large mammals on small islands and highlights the importance of following an adaptive management approach, which in this case implies shifting 30% of the current protected area

    This study aims to find out whether the Kecak dance performed at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana destination is one of the attractions for tourists to visit Bali. The research method used is qualitative which is literature study which is a data collection method directed at searching data and information through documents, both written documents, photographs, images, and electronic documents that can support the writing process. Based on the research results conducted by the author, the performance of the Kecak dance as a tourist attraction at Garuda Wisnu Kencana has a significant effect on increasing tourist visits by almost 50%. Art performances that have a major influence on the level of tourist visits at Garuda Wisnu Kencana are the Garuda Wisnu Kecak Dance because the story staged is the story of Garuda Wisnu Kencana and is only staged at Garuda Wisnu Kencana. to attract both domestic and foreign tourists to visit the city of Bali and attract tourists to come visit while preserving Indonesian culture

    One of the ways authors express literary works is through the use of language styles. Language style has a function that can influence the reader which can make the reader interested in what the author conveys. This research is entitled "Language Style in the novel Big Plan to Die with Calm by Wisnu Suryaning Adji". The purpose of this study is to describe the use of style in hyperbole, irony, and personification in the novel The Great Plan to Die with Tranquility by Wisnu Suryaning Adji. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. Based on the results of the study, the author uses hyperbolic language style to emphasize excess, describe emotional tension, create dramatic effects, give an impression of humor. The use of ironic language styles for the contrast between hope and reality, dissatisfaction and frustration, social criticism, emotional reflection, and gives a more complex layer of meaning. Using his own personification language style, the author aims to bring objects and concepts to life, create an emotional impression, add aesthetic beauty to the novel Big Plan to Die with Tenang by Wisnu Suryaning Adji.93 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
