Reinas de la noche: Performances trans(formistas) y mundos artísticos en un pub nocturno de la Ciudad de Córdoba
No full textEste artículo recupera las principales líneas de investigación de mi Trabajo Final de Licenciatura (TFL). En aquel trabajo etnográfico me pregunté por la construcción de subjetividades entre artistas que se presentaban a sí mismas, y eran presentadas por otr@s, como trans, transformistas y drag queens. Efectué el trabajo de campo en un espacio nocturno mercantilizado donde un conjunto de artistas realizaba shows de martes a domingo y allí indagué de modo analítico en la construcción de estas performances. “Beep Pub!” o Beep (como lo llamaba la gran mayoría de mis interlocutor@s) era un local comercial que integraba desde 1994 la “noche gay” de la ciudad de Córdoba y se ubicaba en algunas narrativas como uno de los primeros y/o principales espacios de iniciación para las prácticas artísticas en cuestión. El escenario del Beep era el soporte de un universo de relaciones que se condensaban en un mundo del arte trans(formista). El objetivo de este trabajo será volver sobre algunas de las relaciones analizadas como las particularidades de aquel pub en tanto espacio de sociabilidad, las formas de cooperación entre artistas y el personal de apoyo, las jerarquías entre las primeras, los avatares de su profesionalización, la formación de un nombre y las prácticas que formaban parte de las convenciones artísticas de ese mundo.Fil: Brollo, Maria Daniela. “An altar so that there will be less and less there”: Public repertoires of mourning for a transfemicide in the city of Córdoba, Argentina
Get PDFEn este texto propongo un abordaje sobre el tratamiento público y colectivo del duelo ante un transfemicidio ocurrido en 2017 en la ciudad de Córdoba (Argentina), con énfasis en algunas de las movilizaciones impulsadas por la organización ATTTA (Asociación de Travestis, Transexuales y Transgéneros de Argentina). A partir de un enfoque etnográfico me ocuparé de acciones que comenzaron con el reclamo de justicia y la elaboración de altares en el marco de una celebración/homenaje, continuaron con acciones de visibilización por otros asesinatos o episodios de violencia y finalmente se complementaron con la demanda por leyes integrales que contemplen la inclusión, el cupo laboral y la reparación histórica a personas trans y travestis.In this text I propose an approach on the public and collective treatment of mourning before a transfemicide occurred in 2017 in the city of Córdoba (Argentina), with emphasis on some of the mobilizations promoted by the organization ATTTA (Asociación de Travestis, Transexuales y Transgéneros de Argentina). From an ethnographic approach I will deal with actions that began with the demand for justice and the elaboration of altars in the framework of a celebration/homage, continued with actions of visibilization for other murders or episodes of violence and finally complemented with the demand for comprehensive laws that provide for inclusion, labor quota and historical reparation to trans and transvestite people.Fil: Brollo, Maria Daniela. Abordagens etnográficas sobre a dimensão profissional e laboral da arte drag na cidade de Córdoba
Get PDFEste trabajo surge del diálogo entre dos investigaciones etnográficas preocupadas por la articulación entre arte drag, performances, géneros, trabajos y profesiones. Comenzaremos presentando una descripción genealógica de los diferentes espacios de inserción laboral y profesional de artistas drag en la ciudad de Córdoba en los últimos cuarenta años, que incluyen desde circuitos del mercado de entretenimiento nocturno hasta espacios públicos y centros culturales. Con el objetivo de abordar procesos contemporáneos de organización y (con)formación de una escena drag local, nos dedicaremos a analizar modos de hacer en torno a un festival cultural gestionado por la colectiva artística drag Tarde Marika. Poniendo el foco en estos procesos organizativos apuntamos a problematizar la dimensión profesional y laboral de las prácticas vinculadas al arte drag con la intención de destacar algunas transformaciones significativas de los últimos años. Finalmente, reflexionaremos sobre algunos debates que se produjeron en la escena drag local en torno a las nociones de "trabajo", "«profesión", "precarización" y "condiciones laborales".This paper arises from the dialogue between two ethnographic researches concerned with the articulation between drag art, performances, genres, jobs and professions. We will begin by presenting a genealogical description of the different spaces of labor and professional insertion of drag artists in the city of Córdoba in the last 40 years, which include displacements from nightlife entertainment market circuits to public spaces and cultural centers. With the aim of addressing contemporary processes of organization and (con) formation of a local drag scene, we will analyze ways of doing around a cultural festival managed by the drag artistic collective Tarde Marika. Focusing on these recent organizational processes, we aim to problematize the professional and labor dimension of drag art practices with the intention of highlighting some significant transformations in recent years. Finally, we will reflect on some debates that took place in the local drag scene around the notions of “work”, “profession”, “precariousness” and “working conditions”.Este artigo nasce do diálogo entre duas investigações etnográficas preocupadas com a articulação entre a arte drag, as performances, os géneros, os trabalhos e as profissões. Começaremos por apresentar uma descrição genealógica dos diferentes espaços de trabalho e inserção profissional dos artistas drag na cidade de Córdoba ao longo dos últimos 40 anos, que incluem deslocações dos circuitos do mercado de entretenimento noturno para espaços públicos e centros culturais. Com o objetivo de abordar os processos contemporâneos de organização e (con)formação de uma cena drag local, analisaremos as formas de atuação em torno de um festival cultural dirigido pelo coletivo artístico drag Tarde Marika. Com foco nestes processos organizacionais, pretendemos problematizar a dimensão profissional e laboral das práticas ligadas à arte drag com o intuito de evidenciar algumas transformações significativas nos últimos anos. “Applause for the winner”: Production of performances in elections of Reinas Drag Queen and Miss Leather in the city of Córdoba (Argentina)
Get PDFEste trabajo reúne dos investigaciones etnográficas preocupadas por indagar en la producción de performances socio-festivas en la ciudad de Córdoba. Una de las pesquisas analiza los circuitos del mundo del arte drag queen y las prácticas del transformismo, mientras que la otra se pregunta por la producción de consensos entre practicantes de BDSM. Encontramos un punto de diálogo entre ambos universos empíricos a partir de un conjunto de eventos denominados elecciones, donde un grupo de candidatas se postulaban para ser evaluadas por un jurado y resultar ganadoras. Desde este cruce nos preguntamos por las relaciones entre género, corporalidad y performance que atravesaban estas noches festivas y competitivas. Para ello, primero indagamos en algunos trabajos que consideraron los efectos que los certámenes y concursos de belleza producían en los universos sociales donde eran organizados, para luego recuperar nuestras propias experiencias etnográficas desde estos debates. Teniendo en cuenta el lugar que estas performances ocupaban en aquellos mundos y en la subjetividad de sus participantes, nos preguntamos: ¿qué era exhibido y juzgado en estos eventos? y ¿cuáles eran los efectos que producían estas instancias en tanto performances sociales?This paper brings together two ethnographic investigations concerned with the production of socio-festive performances in the city of Córdoba. One of the researches analyses the circuits of drag queen art world and practices of transformism, while the other one asks about the production of consensus among BDSM practitioners. We found a point of dialogue between the two empirical universes in a set of events called elections, where a group of candidates applied to be evaluated by a jury and were judged the winners. From this crossroads, we asked ourselves about the relations between gender, corporeality and performance that intersected these festive and competitive nights. In order to do so, we first looked at some works that considered the effects that beauty contests and competitions produced in the social universes where they were organized, and then recovered our own ethnographic experiences from these debates. Considering the place that these performances occupied in those worlds and in the subjectivity of their participants, we asked ourselves: what was exhibited and judged in these events, and what were the effects produced by these instances as social performances?Fil: Brollo, Maria Daniela. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
