12th European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, ECIE 2017 -- 21 September 2017 through 22 September 2017 -- Paris -- 132934The main purpose of this study is to explore the relationship of four generic management models (as proposed by Birkinshaw, 2012); namely; discovery model, quest model, science model, and planning model; with organizational innovativeness dimensions (as proposed by Wang and Ahmed, 2004); namely, product, market, process, behavioral, and strategic innovativeness. The main premise underlying the research model is that certain principles in each management model impact the emergence of certain innovativeness types. The issue has especially been dealt with its reflections on high tech companies in technoparks. These companies are known for their entrepreneurial and innovative behaviour. However, as to the authors' knowledge, the impact of their management model on their innovativeness capacity has been an understudied issue. Within this framework, following a thorough literature review, hypotheses have been tested by using data from high tech firms in a university technopark. Findings supported the view that different principles of each model significantly impact different organizational innovativeness dimensions. Detailed analyses also put forth interesting results which will open up new fields for further research in this vein

A company’s management model reflects its managers’ choices, decisions, systems, procedures, people, and organizational structure (D'Amato, 2015). Companies nowadays are often faced with transforming their management models to cope with discontinuous change in the current hyper-competitive business landscape. Under turbulent conditions, organizations develop skills, structures, and principles that enable them to build an innovative organizational climate and thus achieve competitiveness (Cooper & Kleinschmidt, 2000). Our focus in this paper is to reveal the impact of management models on product innovativeness. We will do this by trying to discover how specific principles in a company’s management model affect product innovativeness. The study targets technology-oriented firms strongly relying upon innovativeness to stay competitive. As far as we know, although certain principles in company management models have been central to recent discussion in literature, their impact on innovativeness has not been empirically studied from a management model perspective. This study offers a discussion of management models and their principles that addresses this gap, and attempts to extend the relevant theoretical debate by examining impact on product innovativeness. From a practical perspective, we suggest a guideline for tech-oriented companies to raise their awareness by highlighting various principles that foster product innovativeness

Extending the debate on how to enable and manage innovation requires a discussion of the potential beneficial impact of management models and corresponding principles. In this paper, we draw on literature involving product innovativeness and management models to propose that product innovativeness is facilitated and influenced by practices and principles traceable in different management models. We test our hypotheses with data from a sample of high technology firms. Findings suggest that management models and principles have varying impacts on product innovativeness. Specifically, we found the principles of obliquity, emergence, and intrinsic motivation as significant enablers of product innovativeness, along with extrinsic motivation. Also, each management model differently impacted and fostered product innovativeness

In my latest scholarship, I focus on fictional texts that incorporate and yet challenge the conventional pilgrimage narrative, and the nexus of spiritual, personal, and professional elements involved in travel to sites of sacred significance, often tracing traditional pilgrimage routes. In this paper, I will revisit that diasporic element in SK Ali\u27s young adult novel Love from Makkah to Madinah (2022), which again transgresses definitions of genre, incorporating a pilgrimage narrative, a romance of two young adult Westernized Muslims, and a focus on grounded (sand) and simultaneously transcendent (stars) travel through sacred space and text. My study integrates dialogue with the author regarding target audience, research undertaken, structure of narrative, and the significance of the Umrah for diasporic” and particularly South Asian” Muslims in North America, the UK, and in cosmopolitan communities throughout the world. Ali’s response to mainstream narratives of her own youth and their allusions to biblical, literary, and multiple colonialist paradigms is a challenge to assumptions of orientalist writers. Her work builds on The Road to Makkah (Assad), Malcolm X’s memoir, and Michael Wolfe’s publications and videos for diverse audiences, but notes how the Umrah (repeating the Hijrah or Hegira) is a frequent choice for 21st-century diasporic Muslims, who are not able to undertake the Hajj. Package tours to Makkah have become ubiquitous in Canada, and Ali particularly noted the significance of the Umrah in her own life, and the response of secular young readers seeking a unique romance novel and following the story of Adam (A) and Zayneb (Z) in an earlier novel, Love from A to Z (2019). I will conclude by providing a glimpse of package tours” like the one undertaken by Adam and Zayneb” in Canada

Exporting is a strategic way of accessing international markets for many companies. However, operating successfully can be challenging because of the highly competitive and dynamic business environment. Therefore, how to be a successful and competitive exporter and how to use its scarce resources and capabilities is a matter of great importance. All international activities can be considered entrepreneurial since they contain a combination of risk and innovation that are crucial to creating value. As a company’s prominent resource and capability, entrepreneurship orientation captured the attention of many researchers in the field of international business. Based on the dynamic capability and resource-based view, the purpose of this research is to further investigate the impact of entrepreneurship orientation on export performance and more specifically to examine and highlight the effectiveness and the effect of each dimension of entrepreneurship orientation on export performance. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 70 managers of exporting companies in Turkey to reveal the relationship among the constructs in question. The study’s results supported the positive relationship of proactiveness and innovativeness dimensions on export performance. According to the results of the research, some insights were suggested to contribute to exporters to identify and reinforce their entrepreneurial behaviors as well as to recognize the contribution of each entrepreneurship orientation dimension and develop it accordingly for better export performance
