Constraint Handling in RV-GOMEA
The Real-Valued Gene-pool Optimal Mixing Evolutionary Algorithm (RV-GOMEA) is a state-of-the-art algorithm for single-objective, real-valued optimization. As many practical applications are inherently constrained, evolutionary algorithms are equipped with constraint handling techniques to allow optimizing constrained problems. The approach currently in use with RV-GOMEA prioritizes solution feasibility over the objective value in all cases, pressuring the algorithm to find feasible solutions. However, this can be inefficient if the constrained optimum is located at the constraint boundary, as search is discouraged from exploring the search space close to infeasible solutions. In this thesis, several well-known constraint handling techniques from literature are adapted for use with RV-GOMEA and evaluated on different benchmark problems, identifying the strengths and limitations of the various techniques. Furthermore, the inefficiency of the current technique is investigated in detail. Based on the insights gained, modifications to the existing techniques are proposed, leading to promising preliminary results.Computer Science | Artificial Intelligenc
Serial RV wall stress measurements:association with right ventricular function in repaired Tetralogy of Fallot patients
Background: Optimal timing of pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) in Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) patients remains challenging. Ventricular wall stress is considered to be an early marker of right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. Objectives: To investigate the association of RV wall stresses and their change over time with functional parameters in TOF patients. Methods: Ten TOF patients after surgical repair with moderate/severe pulmonary regurgitation were included. At two timepoints (median follow-up time 7.2 years), patient-specific computational biventricular models for wall stress assessment were created using CMR short-axis cine images and echocardiography-based RV pressures. RV ejection fraction (RVEF), NT-proBNP and cardiopulmonary exercise tests were used as outcome measures reflecting RV function. Associations between regional RV diastolic wall stress and RV function were investigated using linear mixed models. Results: Increased wall stress correlated with lower RV mass (rrm = −0.70, p = 0.017) and lower RV mass-to-volume (rrm = −0.80, p = 0.003) using repeated measures. Wall stress decreased significantly over time, especially in patients with a stable RVEF (p < 0.001). Higher wall stress was independently associated with lower RVEF, adjusted for left ventricular ejection fraction, RV end-diastolic volume and time since initial surgery (decrease of 1.27% RVEF per kPa increase in wall stress, p = 0.029) using repeated measurements. No association was found between wall stress, NT-proBNP, and exercise capacity. Conclusions: Using a computational method to calculate wall stress locally in geometrically complex ventricles, we demonstrated that lower wall stress might be important to maintain ventricular function. RV wall stress assessment can be used in serial follow-up, and is potentially an early marker of impending RV dysfunction

RF Information Harvesting for Medium Access in Event-driven Batteryless Sensing
We present radio-frequency (RF) information harvesting, a chan-nel sensing technique that takes advantage of the energy in the wireless medium to detect channel activity at essentially no en-ergy cost. RF information harvesting is essential for event-driven wireless sensing applications using battery-less devices that har-vest tiny amounts of energy from impromptu events, such as op-erating a switch, and then transmit the event notification to a one-hop gateway. As multiple such devices may concurrently de-tect events, coordinating access to the channel is key. RF infor-mation harvesting allows devices to break the symmetry between concurrently-transmitting devices based on the harvested energy from the ongoing transmissions. To demonstrate the benefits of RF information harvesting, we integrate it in a tailor-made ultra low-power hardware MAC protocol we call Radio Frequency-Distance Packet Queuing (RF-DiPaQ). We build a hardware/software proto-type of RF-DiPaQ and use an established Markov framework to study its performance at scale. Comparing RF-DiPaQ against sta-ple contention-based MAC protocols, we show that it outperforms pure Aloha and 1-CSMA by factors of 3.55 and 1.21 respectively in throughput, while it saturates at more than double the offered load compared to 1-CSMA. As traffic increases, the energy saving of RF-DiPaQ against CSMA protocols increases, consuming 36% less energy than np-CSMA at typical offered loads.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Embedded System
An integrated marketing communications campaign for Chef RV
This is an Integrated Marketing Campaign for Chef RV cafe restaurant. Chef RV is one of the most popular cafe restaurants in the City of Life; Biñan, Laguna. It proudly presents itself as one of the few home-grown cafes in the city that has a wide following in the country, at ninety thousand four hundred. It is owned by esteemed Chef Rudolf Vincent Manabat, an award winning author of Baking secrets, 2012 and More baking secrets, 2018. Chef Manabat is a known personality in the culinary industry, having trained by the best pastry chefs not just in the Philippines but also in other countries.
Chef RV’s humble beginning started with Chef Manabat’s cooking classes in San Antonio, Biñan. Due to requests and popular demand by his students, family and friends, Chef Manabat was encouraged to open his own cafe. With his popularity, skills and family’s prominence in Biñan, it was impossible for Chef RV not to be a success. Chef RV started as a small cafe that served only coffee, pastries and a few cakes on the menu, until it grew even bigger due to the consumers’ suggestions and requests for hot meals. Now, Chef RV is operating as a full service cafe restaurant, and has recently opened its second branch at the famous Alberto Mansion, also in Biñan.
Chef RV is not only known to deliver delicious cuisines, cakes and pastries but also positions itself as a local community cafe that translates Chef Manabat’s love for his hometown. The cafe is proud to have local dishes that has local ingredients, mainly procured from Biñan’s public market. It is said by Chef Manabat himself that the cafe boasts the authentic flavors of Biñan that’s familiar and is loved by the Biñanenses. One of the secrets of the cafe is that it exudes the perfect and
original taste or as Chef Manabat calls it, “timpla ng Biñan”, which he claims is the main reason for his success. The campaign would like to highlight that strength and make it the brand’s core message, claiming that Chef RV offers an experience of the true taste of Biñan.
Apart from that, the vision of Chef RV is to promote the cafe restaurant along with its promotion of the beauty of his hometown. Chef Manabat encourages people to visit Biñan as much as he wants them to visit his café. It makes the campaign centered on the following themes; loyalty, love for family and hospitable community; or what the campaign call as the Biñan Heritage. All of this effort is due to Chef Manabat’s love for his hometown, and eagerness to establish Biñan as a great city that can also be visited by tourists and other neighboring cities in Laguna.
The goal of this campaign is to strengthen Chef RV\u27s brand. At present, Chef RV is alreadt recognized in the area but there are areas that needs to be improved to better establish the café restaurant’s position. The proposal includes the brand reinforcing through its collaterals to give it a stronger position in the market. Its new social media presence would help make Chef RV a household name. The campaign would run mostly through digital efforts, namely on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Apart from digital, an addition of simple OOH in a form of lamp post banners will be created to increase the visibility of Chef RV, and point out the proper location, that would welcome domestic tourists.
The campaign will also include sales promotion in terms of digital content and events, which will supplement the building of Chef RV’s branding. Participating in events such as baking fairs and pop-up stores as part of Chef RV’s public relations is included in the campaign’s additional proposal as other strategies that is nice to have.
The campaign aims to target the Generation Xers and Millennials of Laguna, specifically Biñan, San Pedro and Santa Rosa, belonging to ages 20-50 years old, with an income size that falls mainly under SEC B, and broad C. advertising efforts is mainly on digital media, with a combination of OOH in terms of lamp post banners. This data was gathered from surveying Biñan and other Laguna residents that are familiar with Chef RV.
Measures of the campaign would be based on increase in number of likes and followers of Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. For Facebook, at the end of this campaign, an estimated 10% increase of likes and improved number posting to 20-35%. For Instagram, since it will not be used as much, it will be a tool for sustaining the activities for both Facebook and YouTube. And lastly for YouTube, with the current number of two thousand nine hundred twenty followers, by the end of this campaign an approximate increase by 20% is the objective
Matrix correlations for high-dimensional data: The modified RV-coefficient
Motivation: Modern functional genomics generates high-dimensional datasets. It is often convenient to have a single simple number characterizing the relationship between pairs of such high-dimensional datasets in a comprehensive way. Matrix correlations are such numbers and are appealing since they can be interpreted in the same way as Pearson's correlations familiar to biologists. The high-dimensionality of functional genomics data is, however, problematic for existing matrix correlations. The motivation of this article is 2-fold: (i) we introduce the idea of matrix correlations to the bioinformatics community and (ii) we give an improvement of the most promising matrix correlation coefficient (the RV-coefficient) circumventing the problems of high-dimensional data. Results: The modified RV-coefficient can be usedin high-dimensional data analysis studies as an easy measure of common information of two datasets. This is shown by theoretical arguments, simulations and applications to two real-life examples from functional genomics, i.e. a transcriptomics and metabolomics example. © The Author 2008. Vivaldi ali ne? Nezanesljivo avtorstvo sonate RV 34
Ever since Johann Georg Pisendel copied, and took back to Dresden in 1717, the solo sonata in B flat for violin (or perhaps oboe) attributed by him to Antonio Vivaldi, the authorship of this work has been uncontested. Designated RV 34 in the standard Vivaldi catalogue, it is a popular piece among performers. But there are persuasive external and internal features establishing almost beyond doubt that its true author was the Venetian amateur composer Diogenio Bigaglia (1678–1745). Pisendel’s incorrect attribution may have been an error inherited from a non-autograph source. The article takes the opportunity to add details about Bigaglia’s life and describe his musical style. V članku so predstavljene nove podrobnosti Bigagliinega življenja in opisane značilnosti njegovega glasbenega sloga
Are realized volatility models good candidates for alternative Value at Risk prediction strategies?
In this paper, we assess the Value at Risk (VaR) prediction accuracy and efficiency of six ARCH-type models, six realized volatility models and two GARCH models augmented with realized volatility regressors. The α-th quantile of the innovation’s distribution is estimated with the fully parametric method using either the normal or the skewed student distributions and also with the Filtered Historical Simulation (FHS), or the Extreme Value Theory (EVT) methods. Our analysis is based on two S&P 500 cash index out-of-sample forecasting periods, one of which covers exclusively the recent 2007-2009 financial crisis. Using an extensive array of statistical and regulatory risk management loss functions, we find that the realized volatility and the augmented GARCH models with the FHS or the EVT quantile estimation methods produce superior VaR forecasts and allow for more efficient regulatory capital allocations. The skewed student distribution is also an attractive alternative, especially during periods of high market volatility.High frequency intraday data; Filtered Historical Simulation; Extreme Value Theory; Value-at-Risk forecasting; Financial crisis.
