Daughter of fortune: Isabel Allende's popularity from a readership perspective
No full textThe primary aim of this thesis is to explore and critically interrogate Isabel Allende’s popularity cross-culturally in Britain and Spain. It analyses readers’ responses to Allende’s works as well as the discourses surrounding her public representation, an approach that is ‘readerly’ but must also take account of production and text. This approach is intended to further the understanding of Allende’s work which so far has always been analysed from a textual perspective. However, the relationship between Allende’s popularity, her texts, public representation and readers has not been yet analysed in detail.This thesis is innovative in other ways too. Methodologically, it approaches readers through the under studied cultural form of the reading group. It also incorporates a comparative dimension by looking at the reception of Allende in two different cultural contexts: the British and Spanish respectively. Finding out about Allende’s popularity has involved asking readers about their reading experiences as well as analysing the production of discourses around her public representation. Paul Ricoeur’s (1984, 1988) perspective on authorial intentions and readers’ responses to texts helps in understanding the intricacies surrounding what is involved in reading any text. It draws attention to Allende’s and her publishers’ authorial strategies, her ‘strategies of persuasion’ and the specificity of the lives and contexts of British and Spanish reading publics. Equally, this ‘readerly’ approach draws on feminist audience research and primarily on the work of Ien Ang and Janice Radway. Their work with viewers and readers respectively is particularly useful in establishing and developing methodological parameters for the study of reading groups. No full textThe Supervised Professional Technical Internship (ETPS) is an opportunity to improve and put into practice all the theoretical knowledge acquired during the Veterinary Medicine degree, in the area intended for professional practice. The ETPS was carried out in the area of Clinic, Surgery, Nutrition, Reproduction and Health of Ruminants, under the academic guidance of Prof. Dr. Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. The ETPS was carried out at Fazenda Santo Isidoro/Stedile Pecuária de Leite, from July 10th to November 3rd, 2023, totaling 510 hours. Through ETPS, it was possible to experience the routine within a high-productivity farm, assisting the veterinarian in clinical, surgical, reproductive, nutritional, health and milk quality care. Therefore, this report includes a description of the internship location, the general activities carried out and the conditions monitored during this period, presented in table format for a better understanding. The supervised professional technical internship was fundamental for professional and personal maturity, through the opportunity to experience dairy farming. Get to know the routine of a veterinarian on a farm, interact with different people, as well as follow specialized sectors and professionals in order to enrich the academic's vision of the future of the profession as a veterinarian. Finally, a case of Abomasus Displacement to the left will be reported.O Estágio Técnico Profissional Supervisionado (ETPS) é uma oportunidade de aperfeiçoar e de colocar em prática todo o conhecimento teórico adquirido durante a graduação em Medicina Veterinária, na área pretendida para atuação profissional. O ETPS foi realizado na área de Clínica, Cirurgia, Nutrição, Reprodução e Sanidade de Ruminantes, sob orientação acadêmica da Prof. Dra. Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. O ETPS foi realizado na Fazenda Santo Isidoro/Stedile Pecuária de Leite, no período de 10 de julho a 03 de novembro de 2023, totalizando 510 horas. Através do ETPS, foi possível vivenciar a rotina dentro de uma fazenda de alta produtividade, auxiliando o médico veterinário nos atendimentos clínicos, cirúrgicos, reprodutivos, nutricionais, sanitário e qualidade do leite. Assim, o presente relatório compreende a descrição do local de estágio, as atividades gerais desenvolvidas e as afecções acompanhadas durante esse período, expostas em formato de tabelas para um melhor entendimento. O estágio técnico profissional supervisionado foi fundamental para o amadurecimento profissional e pessoal, através da oportunidade de vivenciar experiências na pecuária leiteira. Conhecer a rotina do médico veterinário em uma fazenda, interagir com pessoas diferentes, bem como acompanhar setores e profissionais especializados a fim de enriquecer a visão do acadêmico sobre o futuro da profissão como médico veterinário. No full textThe Professional Technical Internship (ETP) is an opportunity to improve and put into practice all theoretical knowledge acquired during graduation in Veterinary Medicine. The ETP was carried out in the dairy cattle area at the company Cotrijal, covering the cities of Água Santa and Vila Lângaro, during the period from August 2, 2023 to November 8, 2023, totaling 400 hours, under the academic guidance of Prof. Dr. Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. Through the ETP it was possible to experience the veterinarian's routine, technical assistance provided to cooperative members, in addition to being in contact with high-quality properties technological and also high efficiency within the dairy activity. Furthermore, it was observed aspects related to the formulation of diets, reproductive management, gestational diagnoses and health protocols. Therefore, this report includes a description of the internship location, the general activities developed and finally, a case report on nutritional management in robotic milking. The relevance of the professional technical internship for the professional and personal maturity, experiencing the development routine on properties, having autonomy to apply in practice the knowledge acquired in theory, discussing improvements and solutions with specialized professionals and enriching the academic’s vision about the future of the profession as a veterinarian.O Estágio Técnico Profissional (ETP) é uma oportunidade de aperfeiçoar e colocar em prática todo o conhecimento teórico adquirido durante a graduação em Medicina Veterinária. O ETP foi realizado na área de bovinos de leite na empresa Cotrijal abrangendo as cidades de Água Santa e Vila Lângaro, durante o período de 02 de agosto de 2023 até 08 de novembro de 2023, totalizando 400 horas, sob orientação acadêmica da Profa. Dra. Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. Através do ETP foi possível vivenciar a rotina do médico veterinário, a assistência técnica prestada aos associados da cooperativa, além de estar em contato com propriedades de alto nível tecnológico e também de alta eficiência dentro da atividade leiteira. Além disso, observou-se aspectos relativos à formulação de dietas, manejos reprodutivos, diagnósticos gestacionais e protocolos sanitários. Assim, o presente relatório compreende a descrição do local de estágio, as atividades gerais desenvolvidas e por fim, um relato de caso sobre manejo nutricional em ordenha robotizada. No full textThe Professional Technical Internship (ETP) is a time to put into practice all the knowledge acquired during the Veterinary Medicine degree, thus improving in the desired area for future professional activity. The ETP took place from July 17, 2023 to October 20, 2023, totaling 480 hours, under the academic guidance of Prof. Dr Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. Held in the area of Reproduction Biotechnology, at the Bovine Semen Freezing and Processing Center (CCPS) Renascer Biotecnologia, where it was possible to monitor the routine within the laboratory, assisting the MVs in the evaluation, processing and freezing of bovine semen. In addition, it was possible to experience the entire process from admission, andrological, health examinations of new bulls entered and even semen collection. This report aims to describe the internship location, the general activities developed and carried out during this period, and at the end of this report the project that takes as its title the excess of major defect correlated with the pregnancy rate will be reported. Finally, the ETP was essential for professional and personal maturity, due to the interactions with different professionals specialized in the desired area.O Estágio Técnico Profissional (ETP) é um momento de colocar em prática todo o conhecimento adquirido durante a graduação de Medicina Veterinária, assim aprimorando-se na área desejada para a futura atuação profissional. O ETP ocorreu no período de 17 de julho de 2023 até 20 de outubro de 2023, totalizando 480 horas, sob orientação acadêmica do Prof. Dra Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. Realizado na área de Biotecnologia da Reprodução, na Central de Congelamento e Processamento de Sêmen Bovino (CCPS) Renascer Biotecnologia, onde foi possível acompanhar a rotina dentro do laboratório, auxiliando as MV’s na avaliação, processamento e congelamento de sêmen bovino. Além disto foi possível vivenciar todo o processo desde exames de admissão, andrológico, sanidade de novos touros ingressados e até a coleta de sêmen. O presente relatório tem o objetivo de descrever o local de estágio, as atividades gerais desenvolvidas e realizadas durante esse período, e no final deste será relatado o projeto que leva como título o excesso de defeito maior correlacionado com a taxa de prenhez. The ETP was carried out in the area of clinic, surgery and equine dentistry, under the academic guidance of Prof. Dr. Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. The ETP was carried out at the Carolina Zagonel and Eduarda Souza Clinic, from July 17th to November 17th, totaling 700 hours. Through the ETP, it was possible to experience the clinical/surgical and dental routine in the field, helping veterinarians with care, restraint, management of hospitalized patients, imaging exams and procedures. Therefore, this report includes a description of the internship location, the general activities carried out, the conditions monitored during this period and, finally, a case of osteoarthritis and subchondral cyst in a Creole mare will be reported. For me, the supervised professional technical internship was fundamental for both professional and personal development, as I had the opportunity to follow several cases, previously only seen in literature, and have contact with several excellent professionals in the field.O Estágio Técnico Profissional (ETP) é uma oportunidade de aperfeiçoar e de colocar em prática todo o conhecimento teórico adquirido durante a graduação em Medicina Veterinária, na área pretendida para atuação profissional. No full textTesis inédita de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Facultad de Filología, Departamento de Filología Española II (Literatura Española), leída el 15/01/2016This doctoral thesis entitled “Miguel Botelho de Calvalho‟s Poetry. Study and edition of Fábula de Píramo y Tisbe (1621) and Rimas Varias (1646)” is born to approach Miguel Botelho de Carvalho‟s (1595-?) life and works. He was a Portuguese poet that lived during the Spanish monarchy reign (1580-1668) and is inexorably referred to in the works of Portuguese poets who wrote in Spanish during the 17th century. The works by this author of which we are certain were written from 1621 to 1646 – namely: an epyllion about the love affairs between Píramo and Tisbe (Fábula de Píramo y Tisbe, Madrid, 1621), a pastoral novel (Prosas y versos del pastor de Clenarda, Madrid 1621), as well as the works printed after his travel to India. This last period includes his narrative poem divided into six cantos, La Filis (1641) and another publication containing two works: a poetic anthology entitled Rimas varias and his approach to drama in Tragicomedia del martir d’Ethiopía (Ruán, 1646). Botelho de Carvalho is constantly being referred to among the critics, above all in general studies about that period. Few of them have delved into the author, nonetheless. No full textThe agricultural sector has stood out for its growth and use of technologies used to meet the demand for expanding the genetic and nutritional potential and requirements of animals. Properties become increasingly effective and demanding, seeking knowledge and technology, so it is essential that the veterinarian is always trained and updated. In this sense, the technical-professional internship is the last challenge for the veterinary student. This is where all the study knowledge acquired during the undergraduate course is applied. During this period, the activities were guided and supervised by veterinarian Claudio Gomes Antunes; The academic guidance was provided by professor Dr. Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. Thus, it was carried out at the headquarters of Cooperativa Tritícola de Espumoso Ltda, in the municipality of Espumoso-RS, covering 480 hours. During this stage, the activities carried out were: health and reproductive management; feed formulation; clinical care; discussions of diagnostics and therapeutic approaches for ruminants; surgeries; care for monogastric animals, horses and pigs. This report describes the activities carried out with a brief comment. In conclusion, there is a case report about a cesarean section, performed on a beef cattle farm, in an extensive system. Therefore, the technical-professional internship was extremely important for the intern’s professional and personal development. During this period, there was contact with other professionals in the area and with producers, providing opportunities to experience different realities, creating more knowledge about beef and dairy farming in southern Brazil, as well as new opportunities arising.O setor agropecuário vem se destacando pelo crescimento e uso de tecnologias empregadas para atender a demanda da expansão do potencial genético, nutricional, exigências dos animais. As propriedades se tornam, cada vez mais, efetivas e exigentes, buscando conhecimento e tecnologia, logo é imprescindível que o médico veterinário esteja sempre capacitado e atualizado. Nesse sentido, o estágio técnico-profissional é o último desafio para o acadêmico de veterinária. É nele que se aplica toda a bagagem de estudos adquirida durante o curso de graduação. Nesse período, as atividades foram orientadas e supervisionadas pelo médico veterinário Claudio Gomes Antunes; já a orientação acadêmica coube à professora Dra. Maria Isabel Botelho Vieira. Assim, foi realizado na sede da Cooperativa Tritícola de Espumoso Ltda, no município de Espumoso-RS, contemplando 480 horas. Durante essa etapa, as atividades executadas foram: manejo sanitário e reprodutivo; formulação de rações; atendimento clínico; discussões de diagnósticos e abordagens terapêuticas de ruminantes; cirurgias; atendimentos a animais monogástricos, equinos e suínos. Neste relatório, estão descritas as atividades realizadas contendo um breve comentário. Como conclusão, há um relato de caso sobre uma cesariana, realizada em uma propriedade de bovinocultura de corte, em sistema extensivo. Dessa forma, o estágio técnico-profissional foi de suma importância para o desenvolvimento profissional e pessoal do estagiário. Durante esse período, teve-se contato com outros profissionais da área e com produtores, oportunizando a vivência de diversas realidades, fazendo com que se agregasse mais conhecimento sobre a pecuária de corte e leiteira do Sul do Brasil, bem como novas oportunidades surgiram
