Antonio Gandusio (Rovigno d’Istria, 29 luglio 1872-Milano, 23 maggio 1951)
Antonio Gandusio is among the last Brillante to tread the Italian scenes. Not a son of art, he becomes one of the most important exponents of Italian comedy of early twentieth century. In his career he acts with actors such as Ermete Novelli, Flavio Andò and Lyda Borelli. In addition to being a theater, radio and cinema’s performer, he is a refined book collector and passionate reader

Mammography screening in Trieste: data quality, assessment of indicators and impact on the population
In this Section, "Statistics for screening", we want to emphasize that it is more and more important to use statistics to understand, to analyze and to evaluate the data of a screening, in order to describe the population and to take decisions and, even before, to learn to draw and design a screening itself.As highlighted by the title, using results from the project of mammography screening in the Province of Trieste, we want to focus in particular the importance of
- the quality of the data; without which it is no possible to make a correct statistics, and in this talk we show an example of the correction of the data concerning the blood group;
- the evaluation of the indicators, and here it is important to decide which are ‘informative indicators’, and how it is possible to read the output in a critical way;
- the impact of a screening on a population.
In this context it is evident the importance of a multidisciplinary work, and this is the experience started some years ago in our local reality, with the involvement of pathologists, surgeons, radiologists, radiotherapists, oncologists, physicists , mathematicians, statisticians, ... the different care and research contributions for breast disease in the province of Trieste

Abstract
SiC/SiC ceramic matrix composites (SiCf/SiC CMCs) are regarded as the new materials for the hot-section components of aircraft gas turbine engines, since they have one-third of the density of metallic superalloys, a higher temperature capability, good mechanical strength, and excellent thermal shock resistance. However, high-temperature water-vapor-rich combustion gases can induce severe surface recession phenomena in SiC/SiC leading to component failure. For this reason, it is necessary to design protective coatings, i.e., environmental barrier coatings (EBCs), able to protect the SiC/SiC surface in combustion environments. In the present work, ytterbium monosilicate (Yb2SiO5), stable when exposed to water vapor at high temperatures, and ytterbium disilicate (Yb2Si2O7), characterized by a thermal expansion coefficient closer to that of the substrate, were selected for a multilayer EBC system. EBCs were processed using the atmospheric plasma spray (APS) technique. A set of deposition parameters were tested, varying the power of the torch, and the composition and microstructure of the deposited coatings were studied in terms of porosity, crack density, and post-deposition phase retention by performing SEM, EDS, and XRD analysis. The results allow for the definition of the influence of deposition parameters on the final properties of multilayer EBC coatings

Securing workers' rights in subcontracting chains
The research shows the diverse strategies to use subcontracting as a business model. Companies take full advantage of the existing national and European norms and aimed at externalising risks, by extending and complicating the subcontracting chain. The research team approached selected companies and interviewed various stakeholders including labour authorities and management associations. They found hard facts and sad stories about workers that fight until today to receive their salary.
In the cases of the report subcontracting practices are directly weakening the economic and normative employment conditions of the workforce: less income, less social contributions, longer working hours, worse H&S conditions, etc. Sometimes the employers even achieve to systematically hinder the social cohesion of the workers and consequently hinder collective action.
The research shows how companies in these sectors use subcontracting as a strategy to increase profits in highly competitive markets, without being liable for the consequences of their actions
Statistics and histopathology: a mixed-effects model approach to digital image analysis
In quantitative histology several image analysis software are avaible with good results in detecting objects both on morphometrical side (perimeter, diameter, area, shape factor) and densitometrical features (RGB or gray density). Classification usually is performed by estracting overall information y low-level features (relationships between pixels and objects) and high level features (histological textures/structures). In thi communication we ficus the possibility to exploit random effects approach in histopathological analisys
