Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Raffella Carrà und Loretta Goggi – zwei Ikonen des italienischen Fernsehens und ihre Lieder
Since the early times of television, music has played a major role in many television programs, with some of the presenters even acting as singers. In Italy, Loretta Goggi and Raffaella Carrà have managed to realize a double career as television stars and singers, especially in the 1970s and 1980s. Both of them had several hits and were present in the charts, not only in Italy, but also in othercountries like Germany or Spain. They both presented the Sanremo Music Festival of the Italian Canzone and Loretta Goggi even took part in the competition. In Italy, they are also well known as singers of famous television themes and have created many emblematic songs that have contributed to their popularity even among the younger generations. In fact, Loretta Goggi and Raffaella Carràmade a comeback in the new millennium with new television programs and reached the status of icons of the Italian song and Italian television. Raffaella Carrà’s death in 2021 triggered a wave of national mourning across the generations, thus transforming her into a modern legend
„Quelque part entre Rome et Paris…“ – Regards croisés und Grenzgänge zwischen französischem Chanson und italienischer Canzone
Border crossings between the French chanson and the Italian canzone are more frequent that one may think. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the French chanson inspires many of the cantautori and contributes to create the new genre of the Italian canzone d’autore. At the same time, French singers participate in the Sanremo Festival whereas Italian singers sing their songs in French and try to make a career in France. This works particularly in cases of singers with a binational background: Some of them manage to make a career in both countries. Finally, there are also homages to the songs of the respective other country or their singers, and we should not forget the number of songs dedicated to topics specific of the other country, such as Venice appearing in French chansons or Paris in Italian canzoni
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Sylvie Vartan – 50 ans de bonheur? Stationen in der Karriere eines yé-yé-Idols
About 50 years ago, Sylvie Vartan was one of the major stars of the French chanson yé-yé. Being the perfect example of promulgation through the mass media, she quickly received the status of an idol and became one of the favorite copains of French adolescents in the 1960s. As one of the few real stars of the yé-yé movement, she managed to continue her career up to the present day: first by adopting the American show model, then by engaging in projects with new authors and representatives of the new French chanson. Success was not always part of the show, but Vartan found a way to conserve parts of her public even in the new millennium. Is this the reason why she can be considered an idol unaffected by time
