Role of the Catholic Church in Overcoming Community Poverty Around the Area of St. Bonifasius Chapel Landungsari Malang
Get PDFThe Catholic Church is actively involved in efforts to overcome the problems that exist in the world manifested by Catholics in the involvement of the weak, poor, and suffering. This study aims to analyze the role of the Catholic Church in overcoming poverty in the community around the area of St. Bonifasius Chapel Landungsari Malang. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type and case study design. The location of the research was carried out around St. Bonifasius Chapel Landungsari Malang. The data collection technique in this study uses observation and interviews. The data analysis technique used is Miles and Huberman's data analysis technique which consists of four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion or verification. The results of the study show that the majority of people around St. Bonifasius Chapel Landungsari Malang are daily workers whose income is unstable. Some also become city transportation drivers, but do not own their own cars so they have to pay rent. This poverty is caused by low income and lack of education. The Catholic Church plays a role in overcoming poverty with love, the tri-duty of the church, and practicing the Church's Social Teachings. One example of the role of the Catholic Church is to provide jobs, educational assistance, and basic necessities to the surrounding community. The Church also conducts free health checkups
Pengaruh renovasi terhadap makna rumah tradisional masyarakat Jawa, kasus studi: Kotagede Yogyakarta
Get PDFThe meaning of traditional Javanese house is as an expression of respect to creating harmonious relations with the numinous unity of supernatural environment, natural environment, and community. This is done in order to achieve safety in the life of Javanese people. To accommodate the demands of development needs, especially from the economic aspect, some houses experienced renovations in the form of adding commercial functions to their initial residential functions. As a case study, four houses which have been renovated were chosen. This study sought to reveal the effect of the renovation on the meaning of the house. The research begins by identifying the zones of each houses before renovation. Then the zones of each room were identified as a result of the renovation. The next step was to identify the suitability of the space zone due to renovation of the initial zone. Based on the suitability or incompatibility of the zone, the structuralism approach was used to interpret the effect of renovation on the meaning of the house. The results show that the renovation of the traditional house generally only affects the change on surface structure and not on the deep structure, thus, does not change its meaning. The wider the original house and the more residents living there, the higher the possibility of changing the meaning.

Hal itu dilakukan agar mencapai keselamatan hidup. Guna mengakomodasi tuntutan perkembangan kebutuhan, khususnya dari aspek ekonomi, beberapa rumah mengalami renovasi berupa penambahan fungsi-fungsi komersial pada rumah tinggal. Sebagai kasus studi dipilih 4 buah rumah yang mengalami renovasi. Penelitian ini berusaha mengungkap bagaimana renovasi tersebut berpengaruh terhadap makna rumah. Penelitian diawali dengan mengidentifikasi zona masing-masing rumah sebelum dilakukan renovasi. Selanjutnya diidentifikasi zona dari masing-masing ruang sebagai akibat dari renovasi. Dilanjutkan mengidentifikasi kesesuaian zona ruang akibat renovasi terhadap zona awal. Dari kesesuaian ataupun ketidak sesuaian zona kemudian diinterpretasi pengaruh renovasi terhadap makna rumah. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa renovasi rumah pada umumnya hanya berpengaruh pada perubahan struktur permukaan dan bukan pada struktur dalam sehingga tidak mengubah maknanya. Semakin luas rumah asli dan semakin banyak penghuninya semakin tinggi kemungkinan perubahan maknanya.

No full textPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Perilaku Komunikasi Komunitas Info Vespa Bandung. Penelitian ini membahas tentang perilaku komunikasi dilihat dari komunikasi verbal, komunikasi non verbal, dan motif yang melatari perilaku komunikasi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, sedangkan desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi Fenomenologi. Proses pemilihan informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Selain itu, teknik pengumpulan data dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipasi, dokumentasi, dan pencarian data di internet. Teknik analisa data yang digunakan adalah model siklus Miles dan Huberman untuk membahas mengenai permasalahan penelitian. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa perilaku komunikasi dilihat dari komunikasi verbal berupa penggunaan bahasa Mod yang menjadi ciri khas dan penggunaan bahasa ketika berada pada komunitas dan diluar komunitas. Sedangkan komunikasi non verbal berupa penggunaan bahasa tubuh seperti salam mojo yang wajib dilakukan dan penampilan fisik, dilihat dari penampilan pakaian yang wajib menggunakan jaket parka, harrington, casual shoes, dan vespa. Terakhir adanya motif masa lalu dan masa depan seperti alasan memilih kultur Mod sebagai gaya hidup, dalam membentuk perilaku komunikasi tersebut. Kesimpulan perilaku komunikasi Komunitas Info Vespa Bandung berupa penggunaan bahasa Mod yang kaya akan makna, penggunaan salam Mojo yang memang wajib dilakukan pada komunitas tersebut��, penggunaan pakaian khas Mod yang menjadi ciri khas komunitas tersebut. Dan yang terakhir adalah adanya motif masa lalu yang berasal dari pengalaman dan ajakan teman serta motif masa depan untuk ikut melestarikan dan bentuk tanggungjawab terhadap kultur Mod yang di anut. Komunitas Info Vespa Bandung merupakan komunitas yang memilih kultur Mod sebagai gaya hidupnya. Kultur Mod merupakan kultur yang di adopsi dari budaya luar negri yaitu Inggris. Oleh karena itu Komunitas Info Vespa Bandung memandang keadaan yang dirasa lebih berguna dibandingkan hanya berkumpul saja
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
